Have you ever tried using gymnastics rings in a doorway? I know I have. And although it worked, it was pretty scary knowing that if the pull up bar gave out, the whole setup would come tumbling down on me as I landed flat on the floor. That's where the Duonamic Eleviia Rings come into play. See, I've always struggled with hanging gymnastics rings because I don't have many good places around the house. Best place is the i-beam in my garage, but that's a pain in the winter when the garage is freezing cold. So when Duonamic announced their rings attachment for the Eleviia, I was beyond excited. And spoiler: the Duonamic rings do not disappoint!
I hope the review is helpful if you were considering checking out their products. Don't forget to use my discount code MINUS10 at their site if you want to get 10% your order! bit.ly/3jy4POM

Awesome review Ryan very similar to my review . I’m in the same boat with having rings inside in the warm over using them in the cold gym definitely makes using them consistently a lot better. I agree that finally there is a safe option to use them in the doorway. I spent years using them on a normal doorframe pull up bar and it isn’t the safest option. Keep up the awesome content

I love the rings but my issue is that they I get elbow pain when I do the push ups, right now I only use them for neutral grip pull ups. Thanks for all your videos and info.

Last year I finally got around to installing some i bolts to hang my rings from. I installed them a bit too narrow and have been too lazy to redo it. 🤔

All my doors are (typical in german) 300+ mm. This plastic clamps will not fit and even all Pullup bars on the market wont. The market is full of expensive things what will break a week after buying it.

Thank you for another excellent review! In your experience, thus far, are there any benefits to rings that are more narrow such as the ones from baseblocks? Such as.. Are they easier to learn on?
@MinusTheGym
@MinusTheGym 2 жыл бұрын
The smaller diameter rings are easier on the grip strength requirements, which can be an advantage or disadvantage. I’d say people with smaller hands may benefit from having the smaller diameter rings, women especially, but the advantage to the thicker rings is of course you build up more grip strength as you use them.

One bad thing about using gym rings with this product is that you can’t do any inclined pull or push exercises. If the downward force is not directly below the “clamps,” one leg of the clamp will lift away from the surface it was on and the whole setup becomes very unstable. That’s how I ended up falling backwards when I was trying to do inclined rows.

For that, get a set of Rogue rings door straps... which will do the job if you can work with a door closed.

@@ExpeditionaryRanger You don't need Rogue anything....just put your buckles behind your door and use a slip through knot on each ring. Or put something soft that the strap can loop through on the other side of the door. The whole thing is ridiculous though: Hang them from the ceiling. Test your wood ceiling beams by screwing a small screw in manually to feel how tight the wood is above your drywall. You don't want to use rotted wood! But if there is a roof right above you, definitely test the wood. A small hole in your drywall can be covered with a bit of mud or tape of the same color as your ceiling. Then think of what materials are available for you to make a plate that will straddle a big area of the ceiling. This plate will be secured with headless bolts with a wood thread for your ceiling beam, a space for the drywall, then a machine thread that will hold the nuts that will secure your plate. This allows those headless bolts to be installed once and never touched again maintaining strength. Wood epoxy is often used to get an even more secure mount. You want these bolts spread out over your ceiling, wide enough so your straps can be spread apart enough. As ceiling studs are usually 16" apart, work with that. Most people don't need more than 64" between their straps and for many, 48" would be OK. As you will be putting stress fore and aft and sideways, mount that plate to account for that. You're going to mount a smooth bar to that mounting plate for your straps to go around. Insert the headless bolts fore and aft from that bar so when you do incline moves you have good support. Usually people forget about this when mounting in one spot on their ceiling beam. Also, if there is any wood issues using 9+ mounting points give you ample backup. I've looked at a lot of ring install videos and not one is well done. This really needs to be addressed. Ring installation is so smart ad they can be removed and disappear when not in use.

Can you use rubberbanditz to do beginner pull-ups and dips?
@MarcusWolford
@MarcusWolford Жыл бұрын
Hey bud, great video! As a strength coach, like you, my main concern is a recommendation for my average client. As you might know the average person cannot do a single dip, pushup or pullup. Therefore the #1 use case would be inverted rows, where the handles are NOT directly under the anchor. - So really my only question is can these safely do inverted ring rows where the handles are outside the anchor point?
@MinusTheGym
@MinusTheGym Жыл бұрын
There’s a little bit of forgiveness with the rings being not directly under the anchor, you can move them maybe 20 degrees or a little more without any concern, but you definitely can’t pull them way out for things like face pulls and incline inverted rows. I’d say a beginner getting these rings would be limited to bent arm hangs and support holds until they build the required strength to progress. A complete beginner who can’t hang or support hold would be better off with different equipment. Hope that helps!

Personnaly I like to keep the pullup grips and attach the ring ropes onto the eleviia itseld. This way I can do my pullups with the grips while having my rings lower so I can also do dips without changing the configuration everytime

question- did you change the black string when you went from handles to rings? Seems like you can't use the same string with both. I've been changing but I'm wondering if I'm doing so unnecessarily.
@jackschryver661
@jackschryver661 Жыл бұрын
Looking at the diagram of the set, there is a shorter second black string apparently for the rings. allowing for higher placement of the rings. I've got my own rings, so I would like to get my own triangle carabiners and a short heavy string from a hardware store.

I’ve done some pretty dumb stuff on these rings. Even inverted hangs and back lever work (I had a gym mat underneath me, at least). But yes, it’s safest to keep legs under and not do anything inverted 😊

I suppose they should also only be used in a very straight up-and-down manner, rather than inclined exercises. Really thinking of getting the "KT folding stand frame" for rings...
@jackschryver661
@jackschryver661 Жыл бұрын
This is really an important issue that could limit the usefulness of the Duonamic/rings combination if true. For example, I would also want to use this setup for inverted rows and tricep extensions.
@Siberius-
@Siberius- Жыл бұрын
@@jackschryver661 - Yea I need incline exercises, otherwise it's too difficult, or maybe I want to do a drop-set of sorts to continue the reps but with less bodyweight. Maybe I wanna do high reps. Then of course some exercises just call for an incline because the muscle is small, like with reverse flies or face pulls that target the rotator cuffs, etc. Yea tricep extensions need some incline for sure. So in Australia where I am, the door frame/skirting is generally very thin, there's not much of a ledge there, so this is a scary product lol. I did get the KT pull up bar, it's insane. Very awesome.
