The NBA didn’t count blocks and steals back then so we don’t know what his official numbers were. On that day, however, the belief is that Wilt Chamberlain dropped 53 points, 32 rebounds, 14 assists, 24 blocks, and 11 steals in just a single game.

Fun fact: If you take Wilts 100 point game and assume every stay that was not recorded at the time was as bad as it could be for Wilt, his game score would still be higher than all others. Meaning let’s assume he had NO blocks, NO steals, NO offensive rebounds, and TEN turnovers. He would still have a game score of 66.8, the current highest is 64.6 by MJ.

@@Chevy-hw6lw At least I know before that the rules were different. Put one of those players from older nba in today and their stats would be lower. and if you put a modern player in before the rules changed, theirs would be higher (mostly). So I don't know what you're trying to say with delusions. Also "modern" being when the stats started being counted, not saying wilt wasn't good, he was just of a different era. You wouldn't compare the specs of a spitfire to an f16 would you. So let's not try to sound like a pompous dick with "delusions" alright.

Thanks for another great video, Jxmy! Jordan's 69 point game was the game that started my love of basketball. I was a bored 14 yr old on a weekend afternoon that was trying to find something to watch on tv. At that point I knew nothing about basketball. It just seemed like a really boring game in general. While flipping through channels the excitement of the commentators caught my attention. They were so excited about this Michael Jordan guy. Because of their excitement I had to see what the big deal was. I became so engrossed in the game that I hadn't realized I'd watched the rest of it. After that I was hooked. I was an instant Jordan and Bulls fan. I watched every Chicago Bulls game that I could find. It is so cool to know that my 1st game was a very historic one. Sorry about my rambling and thanks again Jxmy!

I’m glad that you were able to witness greatness in an era of basketball that was with the mindset that defense wins championships. The fans of today’s NBA have no idea how tough they played the game. When Jordan retired there are plenty of my friends that quit watching basketball. Today’s NBA is geared towards scoring and the rules reflect that. When you have a player that can just stand at the top of the key and go full steam ahead and either get fouled or have the lane open let’s you see how the game has changed

It must be incredibly discouraging to every MJ wannabe - it's an impossible task just about, for anyone to eclipse MJ. Given the dynamics of the game now and exposure from HS to college etc I cannot see anyone dominating like MJ did. In retrospect Kobe tried, but that wasn't his natural persona to be ruthless, for MJ it was in his personality. Its getting fucking tiring though to hear 'the next michael jordan'. I don't think a single player has just owned a sport so badly as MJ - nobody in recent memory is close.

Listen. There is 4 letters why mj is the “goat”. E.S.P.N. ESPN wasn’t round when wilt played. All we have is some games, film, and stats. Wilt holds 71 records. (Not 72 anymore,Russ broke one) When espn started. All that was on was mj. Mj also played in a league where it was a bit laid back. In wilts era it wasn’t easy. I’m not saying Michel isn’t one of the greats but his greatness is exaggerated a bit. Plus after wilt was beat down and broken up,he play PROFESSIONAL VOLLEYBALL. Mf played another sport after he retired and his knees were fucked. He ran track in college. This man was a BEAST. The only thing that I will say is wilt wasn’t aggressive. He was afraid he would hurt people. Back to how great wilt is. He averaged MORE MINUTES IN A GAME THAN THERE IS MINUTES IN A GAME. He never sat out ONCE in two seasons(pretty sure but he did one season) His domance was through the roof. Y’all can shit on me all you want but you can’t debate mj or Lebron. You guys can debate wilt or Lebron.

I actually tried to do the game score based on recorded stats. Since a lot of the stats were not available I made some adjustments. Like all 25 rebounds counting as DREB. His stats were 100 points 36/63 FGA/FGM 28/42 FTA/FTM 25 TREB, 2 AST and 2 PF. Steals and blocks were not tracked back then. I can’t believe that he did not have a few of them. With all known variables plugged into the formula I came up with a game score of 80.

He was an absolute beast in game, broke a player's toe with a dunk, dislocated a shoulder with a block and is even said to have at times stopped himself from dunking due to fear of hurting his opponents Wilt would've without a doubt dominated any era he played in plus imagine the technology and knowledge we have now, in my opinion he is the best center WILT>Kareem> Hakeem/Shaq But we all know they can't match the pure strenght if the GOAT beetlejuice, height- 6 feet 11 foot, weight- at least a lot

So I decided to look those games up and have come up with some answers. Simple answer is: poor shooting percentages, high fouls and turnovers, and lastly 0 three-pointers. Your first example he achieved a 44.4 GmSc (Larry Bird was 44.8 for 100th spot at the time of the video) and went 48.3 FG%, 71.4 FT%, 5 PF, 4 TOV. Second example he achieved a 34.9 GaSc and went 55.6 FG%, 60.0 FT%, 4 PF, 5 TOV. A point to note, a 2-pointer will net you 1.7 points towards your GaSc, whereas a 3-pointer will net you 2.7 points. Those 2 games he went 0 from 0 at the 3 point line, whereas today 3's are far more prevalent. Also a miss for a 2 or a 3 will cost you 0.7 to your GaSc regardless of which one, so there's potential to earn more through hitting 3's than 2's as the punishment is the same for missing, yet a whole point extra in GaSc if you get it. Bonus fact: ORB are worth much more than DRB, and his 25 TRB game he went 6/19. Bonus bonus fact: steals are worth more than assists and blocks. Bonus bonus bonus fact: on the wiki for the formula it says it only applies from 1978 onwards, however the stats on the top 100 list only apply from the 83-84 season onwards. This doesn't affect Olajuwon though

I got to watch Russell Westbrook on the Thunder light the Magic up for a 59 point triple double. This was March 29th, 2017 at the Amway center. I also got to watch the most clutch shot I’ve ever seen in person when he tied it from near the logo. Everyone in the arena couldn’t help but celebrate when the Thunder won in OT.

Just watched 6/7 of the '94 Rockets-Suns WCSF series, and can confirm this. He's the original freight train, unstoppable force in transition. Barkley's low post game was excellent too, he had the strength, the moves and he always found the open man when double-teamed.

I'm not fed up, but it is kinda crazy. I was positive he wasn't going to be at the top in this case. I was also pretty sure some of those big games this year would eclipse him, but apparently they didn't. I wonder what was the logic behind the weighting applied to the stats in the Gamescore calculation. That makes a big difference.
