I have had mine for some time now, love it. By way of a side issue during a recent makeover of my kitchen (repaint, change this change that sort of thing) I priced up new door and draw handles, very expensive and not disimilar to the tired old ones on there alrready. Brainwave, why not clean, buff and repolish the current ones. Having completed one and had approval from the guvnor I did the rest. This more than repaid the outlay of the buffing wheel system, so I have credit with the guvnor and money in the tool bank. Don't forget most thing in the workshop have more than one use.

Ha-ha, I love that story Peter. Really pleased you got such a great result. Using the wheels on metal can make them go black, but this can be cleaned off. Enjoy the Guvnor Credit!

They were stainless steel with some sort of a light coating/colour which had worn away in part with use making them look a bit tardy. The wheels brought them up to a high shine almost chrome like.@@ChestnutProducts

Since you get a good shine from the buffing wheels why use woodwax22? Could you use cut and polish on a separate wheel if you wanted something more abrasive? I presume you could use microcrystalline stick too. Thanks James

I don't really understand the first question. You wouldn't use WoodWax 22 with the Buffing System (but it gives a great shine if you haven't got a Buffing System) You really shouldn't need anything more abrasive than the two compounds, I wouldn't use Cut'n'Polish on a buffing wheel. It's too 'wet' to work on the wheel and if you let it dry it won't do it's job properly. And yes, Microcrystalline Wax Stick can be used with the C Wheel if you prefer. Does that help?

The first compound seems rather dark, isn't that going to stain lighter woods?

It's not usually a problem, but in rare cases it can happen, especially when working on a very open grained timber or if there's too much compound on the wheel. In these instances, skip using the first wheel and go straight to the second one.
