People who say we shouldn’t have to work overtime are normally the ones at top pay or been in the postal service more than 5 years ! The postal service on 40 hrs doesn’t allow a comfortable living at all, especially in todays high expensive times. The system is outdated. This money we’re getting fits the economy of 5 +years ago. If they plan to cut OT in future the raise needs to kick in right away and no matter what the time to reach top HAS TO CHANGE! 13 YEARS to top pay is OUTRAGEOUS with or without Overtime is crazy ! Post office is the only federal/ government career I know of that takes the longest amount of time to reach top pay yet we’re working just as hard as the other first responders! I feel as if any government job shouldn’t have there employees working on pay check to pay check circumstances or to a point where someone is eligible for government help , I don’t care what the occupation is !

I’m almost certain that the current contract negation is trying to cut the 13 year pay steps into 8 years. Plus we will all get back pay for increased wages. In my opinion I’m fine with that for no more overtime. Besides, the months we do actually work overtime, holidays, we don’t even get overtime pay so.

We should be making enough money to *thrive* without working overtime. In fact, we should be down to 4-day weeks with the same amount of overall pay (plus whatever raises the next contract supplies). If what the Post Office does matters so much to Congress, why can't they buck up and fund it like they massively overfund the military?

I’m nearing my 1 year mark with the post office as a CCA and I can say it ain’t for the weak. My very first day on my own was an amazon sunday, and the very first stop, I took the mailbox out with the mirror. I immediately called my supervisor crying. She said I would be alright. Fast forward to a few days later, I end up backing into another mailbox. Knocked on the people’s door nervous as hell and they said it’s no problem. This was very early in my probation period and I could have easily been fired, but I stuck it out. Then about 3 months after I was hired, I got sent to a different office, ended up doing the route pretty good, get back to the station, and broke my ankle unloading. I was out for 4 months. A metal plate and 6 screws later, and I was back. I took that as kinda like strike 2. If something bad happens again, I don’t think it’s for me. I’m kinda in a gray area right now. Our office only has 9 city routes, and I know them all well. For anyone wanting to pursue being a carrier, do your research and ask your mail person about what their job entails. Just seeing someone putting letters in a box is only the tip of the iceberg. And management plays a huge and crucial part. If you have a bad supervisor, I’d quit early. Luckily, my supervisor is pretty laidback. That could be a good and bad thing, but we get shit done at our office. Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

My favorite thing, and the reason I come back to your channel over and over Nick. Is that you have the exact same attitude as me, you keep it positive, you look at the bright side. You work hard day in and day out and are here to make money same as me. I started as a CCA in February of 2020, Became steward in December of 2021 and made regular in January of 2022. And I tell you what, the overtime in our offices dried up in early 2023 and I miss it a lot lol. I live fine because I'm in a low cost of living area but I was absolutely banking before.

Working 60 hrs a week there’s 52 weeks in a year ! That comes out 3,120 work hours, there’s no way in hell after working all those hard hours through all 4 seasons of the year that we shouldn’t feel ahead! We shouldn’t feel the need the of a raise still. We need to be better compensated, the community sees our new Mercedes’ metris and the logo of usps and the community thinks we’re well off and that’s not the case ! People always say, you can't live off of OT. Okay, fair enough, but they need to pay MH's and Mail Carriers more money per hour. They are the 2 lowest paid crafts ib the entire postal system AND they are both the toughest and hardest crafts. You know how many MHA's I've seen walk out when they get told you're on the dock today, A LOT. They're like phuck that shit, I'm out. I've seen so many MH's switch crafts at my plant just to get out. It's not that bad, problem is, they don't wanna work. They want everything handed to them. The rumor I'm hearing is that they are trying to close the gap between the Carriers and Mail handlers and the other crafts. The gap is too big. Year 1 MH's and Carriers is an average of 20-21 bucks an hour nation wide. The other crafts are like mid twenties and higher per hour, that's too much. Clerks don't do shit, yup I said it. It's an easy gig. Same with Maintenance and the other crafts. Without the MH's and Carriers the Post office is nothing, we are the back bone. Now there taking away our OT, it's not fair. The only way to fix this is to raise the money per hour for the Mail handlers and carriers. Nick, I heard they wanna lower the top pay from what it is now to I think 10 years for top pay. Again, it's just a rumor.

Save some of your money and invest in Index funds that follow the market. The stock market averages 10% per year.. someone your age should start now and in 30 years you could be a Millionaire. I did it when I was in my 20's when I was a delivery truck driver.. and its like a snowball effect that keeps growing and growing .. so its like getting free money without working. I too worked lots of OT when I was in my 20's and 30's .

Gary is my hometown. You really don’t have to be on the OT list get overtime. Matter of fact if you’re on no list and they ask you to work you’ll get that overtime and one when you file a grievance for making you work OT Edit: I spoke before the video is over. So let me see…you already have an overtime built into your route because it’s an overburdened garbage route?!! Oh no…all you have to do is put a 3996 in and do your overtime, then your steward should file an article 8 for making you work overtime. Sure they will for awhile try to take your mail from you to prevent you from doing overtime, but that won’t last because they are incompetent. So you’ll make OT, money with the article 8 and administration leave everything they violate you which will be dally

This guy by his own admission never had a real job until usps. That’s why he thought it was so great and such a great opportunity. It’s not. Starting as a carrier now is not a good career choice. There are many other options out there than working 15 days is a row 10 hours a day walking 10 miles a day in the elements for two years until you get your own route. There’s a reason why usps is desperate for employees and the drop out rate is 60%.

First off, let me say I love my job. I wanted this job for 10 years before i got it. I waited 2 years too long. The problem with Table 2 is that you have to get to step I before you equal what table 1 step A is. Personally, I'll have 10 years in before i get to what should be the starting pay. If they dont shorten the number of steps to top pay its gonna take me 17 years to get there. I've worked OT. Shit the first 5 years I was here, i worked a second job just to cover the bills. Im tired of being treated like a second-class employee. I, no all of us post 2013 hires are making a fraction of what we should be. Dont get me wrong. I love my job. But when i see UPS driver making 101k on a 40 work week after 4 years, i wonder why after 10 years, am I only worth 60k? Hell, if i left today and went to ups, I would hit top pay 3 years faster than if i stayed here. I love my job. But this union has sold us out. I hope we get to vote on the contract just so i can vote no on it.
