Wait, so his argument for people getting away with owning or viewing child porn is based on the logical fallacy of an appeal to futility? In other words; because society somewhat accepts the products of slave labour we should just throw our hands up and say "fuck it, if you can't beat 'em join 'em."

We do not buy our clothes (or other products) solely because they are made using child labor. On the other hand, those who 'consume' cp do it exactly because it is cp. They essentially celebrate and enjoy the very fact that a child is being abused.

@Dan Quayles ITS SPELT POTATOE! When you go to a store you don't specifically ask where the child labor section is. If someone tells you the blue t-shirt is made by a child and the red t-shirt by a professional tailor, will you reply "I'll take the blue t-shirt because I enjoy wearing clothes that are specifically made by little poor children."??? People who watch CP do it EXACTLY and SOLELY because of what it is. Is that understandable to you now?

Personally, I don't think I've fully possessed what happened to me yet, as one of my abusers was a family member, and I made excuses for their behaviour, as if they didn't know what they were doing. I've only just come to the realisation that they are a covert narcissist, attempting to control me, and as soon as I developed a backbone, they discarded me, just like the other people they devalued. I've become so much stronger over the years, I never would've believed it before. I'm determined to keep going, and I believe you have the power within you, too. 🖖🏻

On what grounds should it be illegal to posses child pornography? Because it's a footage in which crimes are committed or because it contains material of people who didn't consent to having footage of them shown to others? Asking genuinely.
@lukeozade9957
@lukeozade9957 3 жыл бұрын
@@tarkamlokar9709 both actually and it's not so much about the possession more about the acquisition of it as you become an accessory to the crime since you'd have possession of it being aware of the methods to procuring it. A different example is someone giving someone a firearm knowing the intention of the perpetrator and thus aiding in the crime. It's the same consept. You are treated as an accessory. Unless it's found you weren't responsible for the acquisition and was unawares of the material only then would you not be charged

Vaush doesn't know what he's talking about. He thinks lithium is known for being mined by children, he's actually thinking about cobalt. While colbalt can be mined by hand by children the vast majority of it is mined by industrial open cut mines. 90,000 tones is mined each year in the congo and Vaush think's it's done by children. Think about it. EDIT: I also want to point out in a previous version of this argument where vaush claims child porn is a ok he thought the mineral that children were mining was silicon, you know sand... he thought children were mining sand.

I don't like the guy, but this is such a derp comment. Just because he's uninformed about one aspect of child exploitation, it doesn't mean the rest of his points are invalid. Children are still very much exploited for a lot of the stuff we use in first world countries, especially tech. You can't sidestep his point and feel better about the tech you have just because one of his arguments is wrong.
@glenecollins

@@Hydraclone what do you define as child labour? Under 18?, under 14? Here in Australia We have 12 year olds working in supermarkets and sales at fast food places. (As long as they are still going to school) a lot of our stuff is done by “child labour”. If a family has their children working they obviously need the money. If they loose their jobs a lot of them would be screwed (potentially literally) without programs to get them an education, goods and services. It is great for us in the first world to say there shouldn’t be children working and missing school because everyone in their family has to work just to survive but not buying their stuff and washing your hands of it is pretty evil.

Floyd on the other hand did nothing to contribute to society. All he did was break into a pregnant woman's home and Rob her at gunpoint. He didn't do anything to better or advance society so he shouldn't get a statue while the people who fought a war and made a new country should be praised and remembered with one.

The thing about CP is that the product itself *is* the violation and exploitation of children. While people and children being exploited for cheap labor is a heinous thing, the product itself isn't evil. Shoes aren't evil. CP and trafficking (technically a different thing but closely related) the product itself is evil and taking and sort of part in it is as heinous as creating it.

I don't think that's his main argument. The types of people that Vaush seems to strangely phenotypically represent is the 'There's between 0 and some Bad Stuff being done in the service of a market and is gotten away with, therefore you can't claim to stop any bad stuff from happening because you haven't actively attempted to stop ALL the bad stuff from happening'. There's a lot of 'impossible goals' references that are engineered to allow 'them' to do anything in the service of their goal, By Any Means Necessary style. The problem is that we all instinctively know that zero bad stuff happening is impossible, but because there is bad stuff, we somehow shouldn't care if we do bad stuff in the pursuit of our agendas, because this is all about power, and 'we' don't have it, etc, etc, etc...

The problem with Vaush's argument is that he's utilizing a moral high ground from a position that he doesn't hold. "If YOU are okay with buying clothes made in a sweatshop exploiting children, YOU have to be okay with buying porn made by exploiting children." Two things. 1) Both of those is illegal in the States, and I don't control where the companies acquire their products. In an ideal world, we would have all manufacturing done in the states so we can crack down on that, but we don't. (Vaush most definitely voted for Biden who plans on establishing free trade with China and hiking taxes, meaning more manufacturing will go overseas, providing more opportunities for this to occur. 2) By his logic, anyone okay with abortion must be okay with killing another human being because, on an objective level, it is the same thing. He wants to apply a single layer of morality to a tiered system as we have already in place. Stealing is less offensive than murder, and so on. TL;DR Vaush doesn't even follow through with the logic of his argument on abortion, or even his support of politicians and free trade with morally repugnant countries. Vaush is pretending to care about children to make an argument he will expect YOU to care about. Vaush is a slimeball. Not worth listening to other than for a laugh.

@@kristianjensen5877 because there are different levels of moral culpability and these situations should be judged based on that On the face of it you could make a logical argument that they are the same and therefore should be judged similarly but looking at the context that argument immediately falls apart. For example if I buy a phone made using child Slave labour that does not actually imply that I directly support or am engaging in any morally bankrupt behaviour. I might be supporting it indirectly financially by buying the product but as that isn’t the aim of owning the product then my moral values are otherwise intact. There’s no malicious intent here. It’s completely different when owning a child porn product meant for your own sexual satisfaction Not only is it a support for the product, it’s also morally reprehensible because I am directly enjoying a product of sexual deviancy and morally degenerate behaviour. In this instance I’m morally more culpable than person A who bought the phone as I’m directly involved and there is an intent to do something that erodes good values.

Even then, you as the consumer are free to do your research on a business and boycott them appropriately if they are in any way linked to illegal activities. The difference: You can have a phone that was created without the exploitation of children. A phone does not need to be created in a sweatshop through the means of child labor. You can remove the variable that is child exploitation from the equation. When it comes to child pornography, however, this is not possible. I would argue it is a clear cut answer, just that the actual execution of the solution is hard and complicated. Child slave labor is wrong, any slave labor is wrong, rape is wrong, sexual exploitation is worng. It's all wrong, but there is a slight difference. Products, like jewels, tech, and clothes, can be produced without child/any slave labor and the burden of changing that means of production lies within the home country and the consumer. Sexually gotten products like child stuff CANNOT be gotten without directly harming the child in the worst way possible. The child is "necessary" for said product. The argument shouldn't be, well because we allow this form of evil all forms of evil should be legal. It should be we don't allow this form of evil, so we should also look at other forms of evil that we should say no to as well.

What I mean is an individual who has sex with an underage person can receive less time than an individual who simply possesses a video of such act that he did not make. Not to mention the one who committed the act can even plea for a lesser charge which does not put them on the sex offender registry. This is most commonly seen with women who commit these acts but there are also some cases of men getting lesser charges but much rarer. This makes no sense. Both crimes should be punished but one is clearly worse than the other.

the thing is, vaush actually made a valid point. Even our phones use cobalt mined by slaves in africa or whatever country it is.

sorry, what i meant to say was that, vaush had a point with slavery, but in light of his other belief (having sex with kids) maybe it isnt the best idea to believe what he says

The thing is that... well, a second earlier he said that "zoophilia porn could possibly increase the prevalence of zoophiles". So he got his good argument right there.

One is illegal, the other is immoral and possibly should be made illegal but it's not there yet.

@Raven Queen my comment was about exploiting cheap manual labor in other countries (not zoophilia) - as immoral

My argument with this is that you can buy products like computers and clothing that aren’t made by slaves but child...stuff there is only one likely and sick and twisted source of it

I personally support capital punishment for child molesters and child murderers. Why? If we’re going to err on the side of caution, why protect the molesters? Shouldn’t we be thinking of the children first?

@MaxMcG20 Yes I see your point. Proof of Innocence or Guilt is about the only area of grey though (again my personal opinion, of course). I can understand why many others disagree with such extreme punishment. Just my own stance on the matter.

Yet another brilliant take on a difficult subject. I had my own experiences of sexual abuse when I was a child and it helps when people fairly bring to light the extent of devestation on the whole family as a result. It is also, as you say, extremely important to make a distinction between a monster and a man. The man who abused me growing up was a monster. All the other men in my life I've known would defend me to the death from a monster like him. Let's stop blaming men for being associated with monsters and protect the aspect of them which allows them to be our defenders, because if we don't, and we keep calling them monsters, then what do we expect them to become?

The problem with his arguments to highlight the poor conditions of sweet shops to justify child porn is that those sweet shops working conditions can be improved, pay increased and allow unionisation. Child porn will always be harmful no matter what you do, the fact that he uses sweet shops to justify child porn is really him masquerading his desires under some pretence of pointing out slavery as justification. He also said he hasn’t heard an ethical argument as to why child porn is bad shows he hides behind the pretence of pointing out slavery as an excuse to legalise child porn. Why does someone need an ethical reason for why child porn should be illegal?

On one hand, shutting down sweatshops would put an end to horrible working conditions. On the other hand, it would put already impoverished people out of a job.
