anyone can have their opinion and i should not say this but bcz of people like you, studio does not take risk and here they just needed to stay true to the source material. it was shit film in terms of superhero film and gives 0 fucks about source material. Screenplay was horrible, great cast and great character but poor execution. I enjoyed as an normal film goer but as superhero fan and movie fan and film student, this was disappointment and bcz it made huge profit, they will ignore all criticism and will stick to generic superhero film, even MCU has moved from making generic superhero films, they are trying to give distinct tone to most of the project with indie and new film makers. DC might finally realize stick to source material and give distinct tone to each characters and projects with the success of joker and backlash of Justice league. People like mysteries and suspence but changing character dynamics and tone without any proper transition( giving enough elements in story so it makes sense with changing character tone from dark to funny or funny to dark) e.g.. Little woman(2019) Romance film had complex narration and it had sad and some funny moments and it balances in a way that story telling does not get affected. In the end venom is dark character and it should be like that and there is no problem with funny elements as long as they balance it out.

He’s clarified that it was just mostly alternate takes of scenes since the Director comes from a comedy background he encouraged the actors to improv as much as possible which led to alternate action scenes as well. Sounds like they just filmed the whole kitchen sink and then just let the studio edit the tone and set pieces and then chose the best jokes and made a film out of it. A similar thing happened with Deadpool 2 were so much footage was filmed you could cut an entirely different film. Honestly I just feel like everyone involved had no idea what they were doing and just went with it

AvP Requiem, the sequel, was rated R, and it was pretty bad (though gratuitously fun). Both made lots of money due to savvy production crews. Aliens and predators alone are pretty mature properties, but put them together, and you have comics, video games, films and even... toys. PG13 was done to capitalize on this on the first AVP, while AVP 2 had only a 40 million $ budget, so it was like "fuck it, I'm doing an R rated, almost NC17 gore fest and Ill still break even". It made much more than even.

Actors who have enough pull might wanna start signing deals that say they'll get a "Scene Buyout" of sorts if a big chunk of their work is cut. Granted one could argue maybe sometimes Studio interference is for the best, but off the top of my head I can't think of any recent films where studios interfering with the director/writers/actor, etc ended up being a good thing.
