Given your dislike of the Clone Wars, I am surprised you even considered using Savage Oppress at all.

I wish TCW had kept the Dark Acolytes and Savage was just another one of them. Having the Acolytes would have been a nice segway into the Inquisitors we have in the current canon. Any that survived the war became Inquisitors with other Jedi that fell to the dark side during that time.

People who like The Clone Wars and the prequel movies seem to get a lot of shit from "real Star Wars fans". I happen to like the prequels (with the possible exception of Jar Jar) and Iove The Clone Wars. For me, Savage Opress exemplifies everything right with the series. I love the darker take on the Star Wars universe, that strays from pure sci-fi fantasy and creates a credible, believable, relatable and realistic story about the struggles of war, the desperation for peace and the hopelessness of the situation, every aspect being manipulated in every way by Palpatine. Just because the original trilogy existed doesn't mean that every follow up, every add on, every continuation of the story is just some ploy to keep fans satisfied and to make George Lucas money. Why can't Maul have a brother? In fact, why couldn't there be a Maul in the first place? Why is everything that comes after the original trilogy something that "shits on" the Star Wars saga? I love Star Wars. All of it. Not just the original trilogy. Not just the 1970s saga that diehard fans like to pretend is the only thing that exists. The whole wonderful, intricate, dark, mysterious, complex, incredible universe that we call Star Wars.

personally i dug the hell out of Savage and TCW in general, but i can understand what you're saying about him being fanservice and an example of how (in your mind) Clone Wars went wrong. Great video as always man, keep it coming!

I agree wit you 90% on wat u said about Savage but I felt like you wer biased towards him. You should make a Clone Wars rant & tells all the problems you had wit the TV show. I'd like to see that. Savage is pretty sloppy when it comes to Lightsaber combat. He has great Force potential being the brother of Darth Maul but neither Maul nor Dooku really trained him at all so really Savage is really inexperience & just relies on his own attics to win battles being his brute force & strength

Love your versus series, but what I find most interesting is the research you put into every video and the rich background stories. I would simply prefer a profile and the story of each character, and maybe a short comparison to others instead of a match up. Either way, keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video.

I agree about that potential of Savage as character was kind of wasted but and this just theory but night sisters magic worked as manipulation or as a mind trick that turned Savage into a puppet and by "forcing" him to kill his brother night sisters tested how effective the magic was and made sure that Savage was fully under their control and by making him kill his brother they made sure that Savage in a way has nothing to return to and has no emotional ties to anyone. And Savage in my opinion never fell to the darkside, he was just a puppet and had no real understanding about force or about which side is which and what is the difference between them. If i remember correctly at his last breath Savage refers to his brother, i did first think he meant Maul, which is possible but he could also be referring to his brother who he killed. I am not sure if i explained what i meant well but like i said just a theory and i agree about that Savages potential as character was squandered.

I enjoyed this. You always do good work....but I cant help but feel that Savage didn't win because you didn't want him to rather then he wouldn't win. That's not to say that your not right, as always you make a great argument and it is as always entertaining. But given how much you detest TCW well...let me be a little skeptical at the very least.

here is another idea i have that you can do with grey jedi and evannova is a big epic vs series with all the masked based sith( vader, malgus nihilis, malak revan (and if you wanna include bane cuase of the time of his head gear you can during his orbalisk armor time.).) and have it a big free for all and as well at the end do a verdict of each solo combatant so you can eliminate all the fan wants in one video with all the bios done in same video. just a thought to make it an epic vid for the 3 of you to do.

Hi Jensaarai1, I'm a really big fan and was wondering if u could do a description of the 3 rings of defense. I somewhat understand it but feel a description video would really help, as the other description videos did. I also feel it would be cool if u could do some New Jedi Order videos, (like versus videos between two New Jedi Order Jedi or a New Jedi Order Jedi against a Jedi from the Clone Wars) as I haven't seen a lot of it in your channel and I feel it would be very interesting.

Dathomiri magic is incomparable to the Jedi/Sith disciplines of the force. They have different rules, strengths, and weaknesses from each other. The "dark side" as we understand it, may not even apply to Savage Opress's transformation. Furthermore, Anakin killing Padme', who was his motivation for turning to the dark side in the first place, represents the ultimate irony. He had the power to save her, but he no longer had the will. Otherwise, I agree. Savage Opress had a lot more potential as a character. I would have liked to have seen him developed better.

I was shocked when I saw Savage in a Jensaari video but then you bashed TCW and knew it was definitely a Jensaari vid. Still though kinda on the fence with this one, seeing abilities only mentioned but never actively used makes them sketchy and while Savage had little technique he did hold his own against afew knights and 2 master whereas Null was cutdown pretty easily by Kal' Droma

Um you say that there was no point in adding savage as a charachter because there was no point (or something like that) well then no new characters would get added in anything, there would be no point in having old ben kenobi in a new hope.(Luke could have just known about the jedi and trained himself, and yes that is stupid but what was the point in adding kenobi? Luke could have still became a jedi without him.)

I think that the next versus should be different and not the normal routine, I think you should do Han solo vs Carth onasi, there similar people both being pilots and skilled fighters and were around some the greatest jedi of their eras. Though they are not force wielders something g different and unique would be cool to see and hear explained in your in depth videos and scripts.

General Krell vs General Grievous.

I think you're downplaying Savage's abilities a bit. I mean, he held his own against Asajj Ventress before being augmented. Later, quickly picked up relative expertise in telekinesis, such as when he shoved a Jedi shuttle off a platform, and when he has used decently powerful Force Waves on a Separatist Dreadnought and in the Mandalore prisons. That, and Savage's Force Augmentation of his strength was simply insane, a single blow wing capable of throwing people across rooms with ease. Not to mention, he was a decent enough duelist to hold his own against Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi simultaneously, and, though with less success, Asajj Ventress and Count Dooku as well.

I never viewed Savage this way before as a mindless brute with no strategy. I used to think he was strong. After thinking about it, he never received proper training like Maul did. That's why he was the master.

@Jensaarai1 Yeah, I see your point. I had forgotten that Cin Drallig lacked the battlefield experience that Kas'im had. Just wondering, would you ever do a versus series involving Roan Shyrne from The Rise of Darth Vader? I realize that he was never particularly popular or powerful but he still held his own against Vader(though to be fair Vader had yet to reach his prime but was getting there when they dueled on Kasshyk). Maybe set him up against someone like Kento Marek or pre-Valley of the Jedi Jerec from the Dark Forces game. Great videos btw, they're really well thought out and the match ups are always cool.

Even though Draay has more training and civilization on his side, Savage is actually Lucien Draay dark in many ways. And tho savage he may be (ironic that this trait literally defines him) he is still quite talented. I thought about Warb Null vs Lucien Draay as well and i thought it would be too easy to call. Draay would take him out just as Uliq did. With harder difficulty of course. Still this one would be harder one to call so i thought maybe you would want to do it.

Willingly accept it, then how was Revan and Alek forced into the Dark Side by Emperor Vitiate? I mean the way I read the source to this is that Vitiate quite literally destroyed their wills, and forced them over to the Dark Side.

Great video as always but somehow I knew that somehow you'd give Null the win. Whether it be knowing of your bias against TCW or my own knowledge of the two combatants, I just knew you'd give it to null. I not saying you'd ever be unfair in the analysis of a combatant but you have made your disdain for TCW abundantly clear.

I know this is an old video, but I am curious on why you think Dooku tried training Savage in Makashi. To me, training him in such a form makes no sense, even if he was using a regular lightsaber as he is above all else a strength based fighter to the point of crippling overspecialization. Was this something that is actually stated in TCW or is it just implied?

I was listening to the ROTS novel...and the description of Obi-Wan's Force awareness when he, Anakin, and Palpatine were captured and brought to Grievous, seemed to display more than normal Jedi or even Sith described in other books. Huh, looking it over, Warb Nul seems like a "Mage hunter" type with his defenses against exotic attack methods and his ability to undermine the concentration required for force use. He would be quite powerful against those who rely more on their force powers than their sword skills.

An intersting angle for Savage could have been his relationship with Maul. Maybe he becomes overprotective towards Maul out of gulit for killing Feral.

Lol.. okay we get it. You don't like Savage. It's hard to take you seriously as an objective debater if you're going to openly bash characters right before discussing their capabilities. . First of all, Savage is not simply a barbarian, and his Saberstaff isn't a simple cudgel or however you want to try and play it. Saberstaves, from multiple sources, have been noted as extremely intricate and dangerous weapons to wield. One source in particular has noted that it requires a truly masterful combatant in order to wield one properly. To say Savage is nothing more than a barbarian is just straight lowballing on your part (although this is nothing new to you as I've seen in other videos, like when you cropped a scan of Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber saying "Jinn needs to deactivate his lightsaber in order to concentrate on Force attacks" even though in that same comic scan, Jinn did have his saber ignited while he Force pushed Xanatos). Want to know the only two people who have made Savage look like nothing more than a barbarian? Sidious and Dooku. Two of the most skilled duelists in the entirety of the Star Wars mythos. Both vastly more experienced than Savage, with far more formal training. If you're going to call Savage nothing more than a barbarian with a cudgel because of his fights with them, then I'd like to see your evidence that Savage's opponent could do any better. In every other fight Savage has not shown a particular lack of finesse. There is a difference between being outfought by an opponent, and being outclassed. Also, Savage does not rely on strength and durability to do well. It helps a lot, but it is nowhere near being the only factor in his fights. He had no reliance on strength or durability when he got the better of Plo Koon, dodging his lightsaber strikes while dodging clone trooper fire simultaneously, kicking him in the face and removing his mask. He managed to disarm Ventress on the turtle tanker by virtue of countering her advance and sending her hurtling ahead of him into a crate. For the most part he fought evenly with Gallia through virtue of nothing other than skill, but ended up winning through durability and Force power (which only really means he played to his advantages, like any smart person would do). This video just seems like a big convoluted excuse for you to either fanwank the other character, or bash Savage. Either way it's pretty pitiful from a debating standpoint. But hey, you keep entertaining the masses and you'll keep raking in those views, am I right? Also, on the Force power front: Care to provide some type of tangible feat or source that shows Nal can resist a telekinetic attack from someone who can blow 50 soldiers dozens of feet through the air, and destroy a prison cell made from Mandalorian Iron?

Kit fisto vs savage oppress. I think the former would win due to his greater refinement and evasion tactics he implied against grievous. While kit is not the best in 1v1 dueling, he has more than enough to take on opress. Well that is what I think at least but I would love to see your opinion.

TCW tells a few stories: Ahsoka's Story Gives a lot of personality and background to the clone troops, especially in the "Order 66" episodes) Yoda's quest in Season 6 Asajj Ventress - Cool Character Jar Jar being smart and cool
