Informative video and fair comparison, Tom. Thanks! As for Samyang, there is an additional unique point, that is the start-shooting mode as this lens is advertised as an astro photo tool.

Thanks buddy, appreciate the comment. Viltrox also promote their 24mm as an astro option (though, perhaps not as hard as Samyang and with less astro-specific features). However, this test was through the eyes of a portrait photographer, so the start-shooting mode isn't all that useful in that context.

I had both the Viltrox and Samyang at one point (kept the Samyang), and I distinctly remember the Viltrox being significantly less sharp in the corners.

Awesome review Tom. I was waiting for this comparison. Im also happy you added a bokeh test using trees as background. That's way more telling about the boked quality of a lens than bokeh balls or a white brick wall. Thank you so much for taking that extra step. Personally I lean towards the Samyangs. I prefer a lighter lens with less vignetting. Plus the shorter minimum focusing distance makes it more fun.

I bought the SY and Sony 24mm at the same time to compare. Sony was way better in build and slightly better in focusing speed. However, IQ was so close that I couldn't justify paying so much more for the Sony. I went with the SY. I love the weight of that little thing.

Thanks for the comparison review. Weirdly enough, the bokeh improves quite a bit by stopping down to just f2.0 on the Samyang.

Which 24 is the best for Sony APSC? The Sony 24 f1.8 ZA, Sony 24 f2.8 G, Samyang 24 f1.8 ? The 24 becomes a 35 on the APSC. Very handy for street photography.

im using viltrox ver on my a7rii, use for casual photo and video, and i find that i dont really like and use more sony 35 1.8 more instead of this. i had some trust issue. still it can still do its job done.

Which one to pick samyang 24mm 1.8, viltrox 24mm 1.8 or sigma 24mm f2? I don't want to correct lots of barrel distortion and I shoot into sunlight often.

Yup, can use for studio shoots but has its limitations and because of these had to make adjustments in post processing.

What camera is this taken and how does this stack up with the Sony 24mm G? Trying to see if I can get a Sony A7c in my budget of $2100 or if I should just get the ZVe10 with a 16mm Sigma for $1k and call it a day

I think you meant Sony 24mm G. Samyang is much more worth it, has a wider aperture and IQ is similar.
