Training in Session 2
In this session, I'm learning more of the "Split the Difference" aiming system that LIttle Mike created. He shows me steps 2 and 3 of the system. We also concentrated a lot on putting english on the ball. The couple of english he shows are the ones that is needed quite often. He also touches base on the stroke.
I've been putting in at least 60 to 70 hours per week and seeing the payoff of the hard work. I hope these video lessons help you as much as it helped me. Also check out some of my other videos which I am certain will help you with your game.

I use this system and it work flawlessly....if your stroke is bad you will think k that the system sucks this system works without guessing where to hit on the object ball. Good job guys.

I'm learning a lot watching Mike. With a little more structure this could be a genuinely credible training series, good stuff. Maybe consider breaking the fundamentals down into sections and doing clear concise instructional videos, it's a gap in the market that I wish would be filled. Diagrams of the position you're aiming at on the object ball would be helpful also. That's just my opinion, keep doing what you enjoy.

How come Mike said there were only 3 shots in the original video and now there are 4? It also looks to me that the split the difference 2 shot has a GREATER cut angle than the horizon shot, not less. The horizon shot appears to be about 45 degrees and the SD2 shot even further to the edge, making the 4 shots in order of cut angle: SD1, Horizon, SD2, Edge to Edge. Or maybe my eyes are just failing with age:)

Ken, Great videos I watch them over and over again. I tried on Saturday night in competition to use the aiming principles that I have learned form You and Mike and didn't have much success but then again it takes time to master. I have to watch them over many times for this concept to sink in, not being the most intelligent or creative person there is LOL.

Okay. Between the very first video you did on this system and this training session it looks like you've added a 4th aim category. Split the difference (from 50% to 75$), this video shows the second split the difference (start at 75, and then split the edge (about an eighth) and then aiming for the horizon, then edge to edge. Is this correct? What do YOU look for to determine when go from one methodology to the next?

thats my thougths too 1 split the diff of 50 - 100 or 50-0 2 split the diff of 75-100 or 25 -0 3 horizon 4 cue edge to ball edge so is 2 and 3 the same?

When you line up and then pivot, is the pivot done with just the back hand? or is the entire cue being pointed center cue ball straight through the half way point? I find that this method works, but I always put unwanted spin on the ball in the direction i pivot. thanks!

Also when you guys split the difference are you aiming to 50 and pivoting (English) to 75 or 25 that’s where most of my contact issues happened. Because it doesn’t seem like mike adjusts his cue and aim he just adds English to the split the difference?

11:50 I thought when you put English on the cueball it throws the object ball? How are you putting English and the object all continues to go straight in the pocket?

I don't understand how the edge-to-edge technique works. Whenever I shoot it, I over cut.

On an almost straight shot I am setting up center to center on the OB then pivoting to three quarters on the OB and stroking the shot. But the OB is coming up short. What am I doing wrong? If I use front hand english, the shot works. Help!

One more thing I would like help with is what Mike calls boomerang shots I have a lot of problems with those shots and they come up often in 8 ball.

Looking at the cue ball, object ball and pocket. Like a constellation of stars, if the three balls are shaped like a boomerang, that's the reference.

Wicked Aiming System - I have a British style 8foot table at home (super tight pockets), and I have never hit the heart of the pocket as many times as I have over years using this system. I'm quite curious on the english theory with no deflection. Ive taught myself overtime to compensate for side spin... What mike is saying is after your aligned, [on your last stroke] - that all you do is shoot to the left or right side of the cue ball?

@@FaDaVlogs Kenny now that you have been using Mike's system for quite awhile want are your thoughts. Have you figured it out, had to tweak it for your game or had to do a more traditional shooting, spinning, throw and deflection game? There was an autistic man from Canada that could hit the ball straight every time, kind of savant-like, when he tried to teach it people had a very hard time getting stuff that was so automatic for him, he couldn't explain it. You were very gentle and tolerant with Mike's impatience of you. Some of that may have been because you didn't get it right away or that he didn't know how to fully or clearly explain your very simple questions. Great job being a friend to him.

The system is good for beginners. It helps them focus on object ball. Eventually I evolved to other methods but splitting the difference is great for those beginners.

I am confused. My first impression was that you aimed at the halfway or three quarters point, then pivoted to split the difference to the edge. Then after watching VLOG#26, it seems that you aim at the center of the OB, then pivot to half or three quarters. Which is it? Also, is a three quarter hit and Horizon hit the same thing? If not, when do you use either?

Total beginner here. I watched mikes aiming system splitting the difference and I literally got up. Drove to my nearest pool hall and started (tried to) hitting balls using this method. It was good, but I struggled with contacting the cue ball solidly. So what I did was instead of aiming and looking at the cue ball, I instead looked at the object target ball lined up my cue stick focused on the target ball and stroked through the cue ball whilst looking at the target ball with the idea of trying to hit the target ball through and through the cue ball (did I lose you?) and I struck it wonderfully. Does anyone else do this?

When you split the difference with your pivot, doesn’t that put English on the cue ball? What if you’re in a position where that English wouldn’t be desirable? Or are you aiming center cue ball hit -> object ball split the difference?

Hi, just wondering why Little Mike changed naming his system from Hitting at the Horizon to Splitting the difference two. I like splitting the difference two because I could never find the horizon ...................................................................

How do you know when a shot becomes a horizon shot and not a split the difference 2 shot? Edit: I also have a question when it comes to pivoting. When I do a split the difference 2 shot, I aim at the center first then I split the difference. Here’s my question, when you pivot to 3 quarters on the object ball do you move your lead hand as well? Because when I pivot, my cue becomes off center to the cue ball.

First of all the videos are great, thank you for taking the time to share. So am I getting this right, for the most part there are 3 areas to hit the object ball? I have tried the first shot with great success. Mike is amazing shot, does he make his living from pool?

Hi Jeff. There's actually 4. Center, 3/4 or 1/4, edge, and edge to edge. Yes, all Mike does is shoot pool. He has alot of knowledge pertaining to pool. 👍✌

@@FaDaVlogs What is the difference between the "splitting the difference twice" shot in this video, and the "horizon shot" in the previous video? I understand the difference in where to aim for but I'm not sure when you would use one and not the other with regard to the angle you're shooting from.

when you are talking about splitting the diff between the 75% and the edge, that is more of a 7/8 ball hit, or are you saying splitting the diff between 75% and the edge is the edge? in the first vid, there were 3 shots, split the diff to 75% , horizon, and edge to edge. is that still correct?

Hi Fada, Thanks so much for this. Got a question; The 1/4 to 1/8 "split the difference" hit, is that different than the Horizon hit in Session 1? If so, how can you tell the Horizon hit from the 1/4 to 1/8 hit?

+Jonathan Auch Hi Jonathan. I'd asked Little Mike the same thing when I first started and his reply to me was that this is something you figure out practicing. As for everything, you have to practice a lot to be consistent. After hitting a million balls, you will eventually just know when to hit what. I've hit a ton of balls when practicing and after a while I started seeing when to hit what at what angle.

Really appreciate the response. So from that we can assume we have 4 shots / angles? "Split - 1", "Split - 2", Horizon, Edge to Edge; in increasing cut angle? In other words Horizon is a harder cut than Split the Difference 2?
