Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.
I am the founder of Vocaltutor, (founded 2003) the UK’s largest vocal and singing tuition network and now The New Foundry Studios which opened in 2013.
I have worked with BBCTV on Just the Two of Us, with many celebrities including Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, plus has worked for ITV on many children’s TV programmes including The Worst Witch, as their vocal coach.

Singing was never measured by statistics and technic it's by who is more enjoyable to hear I do t why vocal coaches focus on something's that aren't important at all like if he moves his jaw or not if he strains if he feels comfortable why does any of these bother you anyway at the end of the day his job is to entertain you if he entertained you more it's over

Mostafa Alaa vocal coaches focus on what is best for singers to be able to maintain their sound... for example, Britney Spears had a great voice, but because of her bad technique (forced by record label) means that she can hardly sing at all now

Agreed. Individual singers now don't really focus on "technically correct" singing, like a vocal coach would teach and how we were taught to sing in choir. They all have their own style and tone, it comes down to individual preference

@@marrofe05 They did have a duet. Alive for Sia's Album This is Acting. Alive was made for Adele. She also said Adele rejected at last minute. And Adele said, " You can give it away but take my vocals off, I dont want my vocal floating around on a demo. So that Adele was either going to sing Alive herself or do: Adele - Alive ft. Sia. They did a duet on the demo. We just never got to hear it. 😔😔

Sia has that raw, crocky, full-of-emotion voice. The most thing I love about her is her style of singing feelings instead of words. I might not be able to understand what she is saying most of the time but I'd still be blown away every single time!!

I found very cool the thing you said about the vowel thing Sia does... My opinion is that Adele is a more solid and consistent singer and that is why I prefer Sia lol, because she is more raw and unpredictable.

Sia, no doubt! The character of the voice and the emotions it transmits is more important than technique for me. A lot of singers like adelle and many artists now has superior technique. But the time i heard sia and i didnt even know her, my tears just fell. I felt it.

This is like comparing apples to pears. I know people like those high belty notes but for me its more important if someone can deliver a song in a way that is believable. Technique is less important than emotion.

Great comparison. Both are really on the same boat. They both have questinable techniques. But somehow they are able to hit their high note and pretty consistantly. When you think they are straining or their voice cracked it still sound really good. And ofcourse their unique voice is really what draw people in.

Like both but I think its kinda hard to judge by setting Adele's mostly slower songs and videos from studio or cameral performances with Sia's concert perfomances with clearly lower quality and acoustics. Like them both. After all I think Sia's voice and songs overall are more powerful, interesting and have more depth.

I honestly disagree with u, I mean...listen to someone like you by Adele, its the most deep, moving and heartbreaking song I've ever listened to. Adele tends to be a bit under the notes once she goes to the top of the 4th octave and upward, but she’s got better technique. I prefer Sis’s style and tone, though.

I think its because adele sing how every vocal coach teaches you to sing, whereas Sia is just natural and unique and that can't be taught, maybe a little bit of jealousy . i heard in a radio interview with Sia on an album she made, she said she just farted it out because she was told to and she didn't really want to sing anymore, but yet it was filled with bangers!

Me Mameg It wasnt Because of her bad technique. She was smoking and drinking a lot, at the same time she was touring and doing like 3-4 shows per week. Her throat just couldnt get with it, so she did a surgery and now shes fine :) Nothing to do with her technique just didnt take care of it.

@@dontmindme5163 Exactly. Same with Miley Cyrus (Miley got a surgery too but not because of bad technique). Some people just can't get that both are at the same level (with Adele being a little bit better because she has better lows, breath support and more vocal agility, whilst Sia has better upper belts and head voice/falsetto. They're kind of equal in mid-belts).

I think that Adele can do more with her voice but she's always afraid and unsecure, she limits herself. By the other hand, Sia takes risks and I like that. Also, she has a very unique and creative style. Adele doesn't and that's why Adele is so boring. Anyways, both voices are good!

Even if we talk about techniques Adele suffered from a vocal cord hematoma coz of all the strain she puts into her singing while Sia glides through the notes with the cracks and has perfectly intact vocal cords. Sia is magnificent

They are completely different in voice and singing at least in the period of the last decade. Because both were was indie and now more pop. Sia is more pop than contemporary, while Adele stayed in pop soul with more classic elements (before the 2000 era). Both are amazing and each song they perform is amazing. sia is updated musically while Adele is not updating or making music at the moment.

I think you already know what I think! :))) Sia is the queen - her voice is a force of nature and and her style is unique and emotional. And she wants to sing like that. If you listen her studio albums, live performances and unreleased songs you'll discover so many Sias, so many vocal effects and emisions, she uses her voice like an instrument and she is doing that for over 20 years now. Her voice is not damaged - this is her voice, this is her raw style and it's wonderful. Talking about Sia's techinque in singing is like talking about Picasso or Dali technique in painting. There are plenty singers with impecable technical skills in every school choir but there are only few real artists - for them conventional rules don't aply, they have their own leagues. Do research of Lady Gaga said about sia, In howard Sterns Gaga admit honestly that sia can sing, also angry that the other artist who can not sing deserves better. @@talentedwomenonly4604 She knows nothing about big terms in supported or not notes, she isn't trained and don't follow vocal lessons. But this video isn't fair there's performances of Sia with fully supported notes until C#5. She has also some very clean and clear D5s and effortlessy Eb5s on "Titanium" and "Move Your Body" or others. On Carpool Karaoke, she did hit a F5 a bit strained but not that much. On Chandelier she did hit an E5 with good projection. Not even talking about head voice/falsetto notes from Sia, she's great here. Adèle is better at low notes and jazzy ballads.

Asia's break was caused from years of abuse that she freely admits but she can still sing absolutely flawlessly and has embraced the break which is amazing and adele is just simply brilliant as usual

Both hit makers. Both with chesty mixers/belters. Personally, I like Adele more because she knows her strengths and her limits and usually stays there which is usually below B4. Sia has definitely got a damaged voice because of drug usage in the past plus her technique isn't great to begin with BUT I think she's gotten used to it like Xtina has that really for them, it doesn't matter haha

A tough one for sure. Adele's voice, however, to my ears is warmer, smoother and has a certain velvety quality that just is so pleasing to my ears. And although I love Sia's voice I don't think it's as good as Adele's. If I had to compare them this way, I would say Adele's voice is like a vanilla milkshake and Sia's is like a Sprite soda.

i love them both, as fans of adele we must admit due to her bad technique she overuse, shes already take throat surgery. Its been too long we never see adele sing again, so sad.

I totally agree with u. I feel like Adele can spread pain through her voice better than sia does and then u have a warmer and humble result.
