Who am I?
I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 16 years and been singing since I was 17. I teach from my own studio and via Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. I have studied every voice technique there is, including Speech Level Singing, Estill, Bel Canto, Robert Lunte, London College of Music, ABRSM, Ria Keen, Kim Chandler, Stevie Van Lange and many more. I have been around!

Sia deserve more recognition,she is so underrated and don't forget Sia is 45 years old,sia reached her stardom at 40s,just imagined at her prime how it would be,most pop star lost their voice at 40's but Sia is still rocking

I actually hate how women are always rates against each other 🙄🙄😴😴 Georgina is sweet and great, but I actually hate how woman always HAVE to get compared, and not just be the value of them selves.. Aaany who.. I love how Sia writes lyrics, where there's more behind it, then what "hits the ear" ☺️ Lady Gaga's songs are a little more "easy to interpret". They both write great songs, but on lyrics I must say Sia wins in my book! ❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩😘☺️

The annoying part of this is that I've always felt this battle video seems to choose some of Gaga's weaker performances of the songs performed - Lady Gaga can do so much better than showcased here. In terms of the clips used, Georgina hits the nail on the head - the clips chosen to go against eachother seemed quite unrelated therefore provided an uneven playing field in terms of what constitutes a fair battle. Generally, both singers are fantastic; Sia' s voice is so unique and Gaga's technique is usually flawless. Both artists have some of the most powerful pipes in the industry today and deserve major respect.

The thing is Sia can hit her notes and keep control because she stands still in her performances. Gaga always has some type of movement going on.

Gaga’s version of “what’s goin on” was awesome. She has all the range for that song. And her flourishes were very Annie Lennox. And she’s definitely cosplaying some Elton John realness. Edit: Omg, Lady Gaga’s Gypsy is probably one of my favorite songs of hers. Such a deep, beautiful, emotional song. And that era was clearly a good one for her. Both are amazing performers.

Sia’s diction is a choice not an evolution. That’s why it’s inconsistent. It’s a character expression. It depicts rawness and emotion in her own unique style. Similar to how you used to think growl’s were mistakes. This is intentional.

I love Sia's voice it's unique. Her live voice & audio voice is the same. There are a lot of singers out there that sound completely different live. Also I think Sia puts a lot of passion into her music ... she beens through so much... her boyfriend got killed, she used drugs & alcohol, she suffers with the same genetic condition as I have EDS, she has bipolar etc. She has also wrote many songs for other artists eg Diamonds - Rihanna, perfume - Brittany Spears, Flashlight - Jesse J, Radioactive - Rita Ora etc.

Its just 30% of Sia's best. Her Zero7 live, KCRW live session, n Lady Croissant live are not included here. Check her old stuff, shes already great before famous. Shes one of the best performer live ever, period. Her raw emotions beats all technique limitations. Also one of the best singer/songwriter ever, at the top with Joni Mitchell.

I think I always feel the emotion behind every song Gaga sings. I always smile and feel everything she's singing about, like she's singing it to me. Gaga, Aretha and Stevie Nicks are the only singers that have ever been able to do that to me.

Agreed and Alanis Morissette for me as well. When I saw her on her Jagged Little Pill Tour in 95 I was instantly floored. Her raw vocals, emotions and lyrics pierced my chest and I've been a fans since. I've been to all of Gagas tours and they've been outstanding.

Lady Gaga's technique is objectively better and sustainable. Sia, while she has an amazing voice, can't keep it up forever with her technique. Compare her live performances now to several years ago, and the difference is noticeable. She sings Chandelier in a much lower key than she used to.

As a Sia and Gaga Fan, I can give u more and better live perfromance balanced clips of these great artists, and well balanced than the one u let u picked and showed to u, but actually this was biased, as u are a vocal coach which u are more educated with techniques, so technique wise is Gaga, Uniquess is Sia, all I can say this is perfectly imbalanced.

I think the diction is not clear in Chandelier because it's a song about her drinking days. So she's tipsy and wants to swing from the chandelier , meaning she was suicidal. Makes perfect sense and gets me every time.

Can't judge from these clips at all. Most people who produce comparison videos focus a lot on the loud belting/shouting parts of the performances. If you can do that apparently you're the winner. Shouting is not technique at all. I can shout with ease with no vocal training. It doesn't sound pleasant whoever is doing it and should be used by singers rarely for dramatic effect. What about vibrato? Falsetto? Tone? Pitch? Range? Where's the dynamics? Is not good enough for professional coaches judging professional vocalists.

Shouting is more for blues and rock. Shouting is required for Something's Got A Hold Of Me by Etta James. Shouting is a technique because it requires diction, power and sustainability. Beth Hart at nearly 50 can do what Robert Plant was unable to do starting in his 30s. Most military drill instructors can't outshout Beth Hart. She just has so much power that she doesn't need to strain her voice. Beth Hart covered a song called I'll Take Care of You with a different musical style than the original. Miley Cyrus covers the Beth Hart version. Miley is obviously straining to get the power Beth Hart has just normally singing.

orlock20 powerful belting should IMO only be part of a singers skill set. I for one do not want to hear too much of it even when with good technique ant maintaining pitch and tone. There are other elements in a good vocalists repertoire. We need to consider these when judging the quality of a singer.

I feel these two are really hard to compare because there style and songs are just soooo different. Like lady Gaga ( generally is a lot quicker singing ) where a sia is much slower.. and these clips also aren’t the best.

I love them both but Sia got better songs and her voice is more interesting(as in unique and have a lotta diff colors to it) but Gaga’s technique is better and she is of course a better performer...Sooo its an acquired taste

Ga Ga is an amazing artist. The power in her voice is amazing. She is a true artist. Sia is good too. I’m not too familiar with her, but she’s got a great voice.

I absolutely adore your videos, your honesty is exactly what youtube needs right now. I have one suggestion I would love to see. I work as a tour guide and whenever I have to guide around 40+ people I tend to raise my voice quite a bit during the day, causing a lot of strain on my voice after a full day of work. I was hoping you could make a video on vocal projection and how to speak up, not only in front of a lot of people but also in every day life to sound more confident. I cannot find information on how to carry my voice with the right technique anywhere.

Lady Gaga is better to me, her technique is flawless and she has a very good control over growls etc and also her tone is nicer and less scratchy then Sia's

I LOVE LOVE LOVE SIAS TONE AND always thought her vowel use was due to her accent (which I know can be intentional). Technique Gaga wins hand down, Ive always loved them but SIAS emo gets me more.

I think the clips were unfairly compared even to Sia’s disadvantage, as well as Gaga, but I still believe Gaga is more versatile and stronger technique-wise

Stags 123 if u seen the beginning of the video she said it’s based on their individual technique. Sia has drug and alcohol abuse and almost in her mid 40s her technique will obviously not surpass gaga

I personally love Sia more, maybe it's bias, cause I am Australian, so I kind of grew up with her music, but I do like Gaga, and she does have a better technique. But I have to still say Sia for the win
