My god I wish I'd had a setup like this back when we were touring ... always at the mercy of the sound guy. Some were great, others didn't give a crap. I remember playing a large outdoor festival and dude had my vocals BONE dry and about 3 x louder than the band .... meanwhile on stage I couldn't hear my wedge and was flying blind, so thousands of people could hear me yelping away clear as day as I was singing into a vacuum. Ughh ...

Love this. Only recently I considered doing more as a vocalist for my bands on stage. This is one step! And then having a midi controller to launch backing tracks 🤟🏼

Hey, cool ideas. Why do you send dry signal - do you feel like the effect level really needs to be controlled from the front? I'm wondering if there's phase issues mixing the dry vocal with effect vocal - especially when the effect is subtle. Obrigado!

This was great. I was using the Mic Mechanic for a while but the switch died and I never really liked it anyway. Do you have feedback issues with the Colorbox? I want some drive and to control my own eq. It’s worth the money for its home studio use on every instrument, but I’d really want it for slamming live vocals.

That doggone Colourbox sure looks like a good substitute for the fat mic preamp (UA Solo 610) that I am using with my Talkbox rig. I'm trying to redesign everything so it could be moved. I guess you have the high impedance output right there too, I have to go through a Redeye to re-amp it now.

Do you know the Fuzzyphone microphone by Griffon ? It's handbuilt in Brittany, this is very cool if you like the kind of distortion/fuzz on your vocals and it's not expensive

Hi Budda, question I ordered the color box v2. in your video it seems like the second line signal that you send thru the mixing board is muted until you turn on the jhs and then it sends both channels. On my v2 it seems to send both signals regardless if it’s on or not. Do you know if that’s a change in the v2?

Hello Budda..I just bought a JHS Colour Box V2 to use for voice..and it sounds GREAT!!! My voice sounds bigger and clearer!! But I need to add some slap back echo (I play the guitar and sing in a rockabilly band). I tried to link the Death By Audio Echo Master right after or before the Colour box and the sound was terrible.. but the Death By Audio Echo Master sounds good too if used alone (the only pedal between mic and mixer). How can you suggest to me to solve the problem? Could you suggest me a different pedal or a different connection? I really need a delay on my voice. I linked the pedals with an xlr cable... I know that is also possible to create a second channel from the output jack of the colour box but, if possible, I’d prefer to use a single channel. Have you ever tried to connect a delay after the colour sound with and xlr cable?

Easy/tricky question: when rehearsing or playing gigs, can I get it all together without the JHS unit? Something like: mic into a low to hi impedance adaptor which goes straight to my overdrive guitar pedal (it's a EBS Universal Overdrive), then straight to the mixer (I don't use reverb or delay pedals, just the overdrive. I add some little reverb from the mixer itself). That's it. Thank you ☺️🙏

If you put a compressor or limiter in front of the distortion it won't matter how loud you sing so you could use it live

Contudo, não seria melhor usar uma reamp box para ir aos pedais e no fim sair o som de uma diy? Admito que sou bastante leigo neste campo todo de electrónica e circuitos mas tenho ideia que se tem que jogar com a impedância dos micros que são diferentes das guitarras ou baixos. Que devo fazer? I recently got the JHS for vocals at shows. Works really well at practice, I line my mic through the pedal then the pedal straight into the mixer. When I do the same at shows however I get no signal. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Hi Budda, I think you would like the Death by Audio Echo Master... I use it with a lo-fi overdrive (like the Ibanez Lo-fi) a Harmonist and a Reverb in the loop... Would love to have the colourbox though!

but 3 boxes completely defeats the object, when all this can be done on a Mixing desk. Many of us vocalists who use just a Guitar through a powered speaker, are looking for a simple plug in r`everb unit that attaches tot he speaker and negate needing to lug around a Mixing desk too
