I discovered the many pros of 'Diesel' power in 1996 with my Cummins Ram pick-up. I began my TDI experience in 02. I'm now on my 4th consecutive TDI. I LOVE em'! Currently rolling a 2011 Jetta Sportwagon TDI w/83K miles. You can't find a more practical, economical, utilitarian daily driver IMO.

I bought my 2015 TDI in March 2015 just before all heck broke loose with Diesel Gate. I did all the required compliance upgrades and continue to be delighted with the car as my daily driver after more that 9 years and 120k miles. I enjoy the 6 speed, and knew more maintenance issues would be involved with the DSG. I get 49 mpg at a cruising speed I'll not disclose. It does not have road noise issues because I've stuck with the not inexpensive Continental OEM tire. You can destroy the acoustic engineering of a car by going with the wrong tire. I have a Lamborghini, three Porsches and parts hauling SUV (yeah, I'm not into SUVs). This is an awesome car! Perfect for daily driving, long trips, etc and I never worry about where I park. I'm sorry that Ferdinand Piech felt he had to fudge on the emissions, but I appreciate the ride.

Great hwy commuter! Ive gotten 53 mpg over a 6 hour road trip in the summer. Def fluid is no big deal..esp when the dealer fills it for free during oil changes. Pay 50 to dyi or 70 at dealer with free def fluid. Easy. Dsg! Do it at dealer esp first one.

Now the car have over 300.000 miles and is running all okey. The only thing that i have to change it was the clucht. Is one of the best cars in Argentina the jetta, here we call vento. Appreciate the video. I've been looking into getting a golf or jetta tdi post dieselgate so this video gave me a lot of information. I do 40k km (25k miles)/year and gas vs diesel price here in Canada is almost the same, well at the time I write this, diesel is a bit more but the fact that I probably won't have to fill up my tank every 3 days is awesome.

Should still have the emissions warranty at that point. Make sure the clutch feels good. Check the history report for high owners and accidents. Otherwise should be solid.

My knowledge of diesels comes from the truck world, which several buddies of mine have had catastrophic issues with the emissions systems. I.e. putting their trucks in limp mode because it needs to Regen to burn off all the particulates. Anyway, have you ran into any problems like this with your Jetta? I recently found a 2015 golf sportswagen tdi 6 speed manual near me and that I want to pull the trigger on, especially after the test drive. But I am a little hesitant because of the emissions components that it has on it that mirror my buddies trucks. Would appreciate your two cents.
@FocusedGarage5 жыл бұрын
The emissions systems in these cars tend to be a lot more forgiving then the emissions systems in larger trucks based off of what I've seen. If you have issues you with emissions stuff, tons of companies sell delete kits (for off-road only use of course, wink wink).

Best car I’ve ever owned, just basic maintenance but had to change CV axles around 70K because it has so much low end torque I believe it wore out prematurely. Average 38 mpg city, 49 highway, best 58 mpg. Can get 28-30 mpg at 90+ mph!!

Hi. I'm very interested in getting the vw 2015 jetta tdi (automatic). Found one with low mileage and vw recalled warranty (Phase 1 completed). Asked a mechanic for some feedback..and he told me to stay away from this brand/car...too many reliability problems and expensive to fix. He recommended me a Toyota, Honda, or Mazda. The 2015 vw jetta tdi is a good deal and cheaper to buy than the Japanese ones. I don't want to buy a headache. I drive a lot. Do you recommend this car?
@FocusedGarage5 жыл бұрын
A Toyota or Honda will always be a cheaper car to run and maintain than anything German. However I've put over 20k miles on this car without a single issue so far. Being a diesel, cost of maintenance is slightly higher than a gas car, but this will run for much longer and also get better MPG while offering more torque. I'd recommend one to anyone who drives alot!

It's not written very clearly, but the entire engine is covered under that 11 year/162k warranty

Jason Dreckmann hi Jason how so?? Could you find official VW documentation I could have? I’m buying a 2015 VW Passat TDI with a warranty and this would be HUGE news for me!
@@JSway212 on page 10 "Additionally, the engine long block warranty shall cover the engine sub-assembly that consists of the assembled block, crankshaft, cylinder head, camshaft, and valve train."

Jason Dreckmann What are your thoughts on buying a 2015 TDI in 2019? | 15’ VW Passat TDI SEL 35,xxx - $16,450 (negotiated price from $17,300) Thoughts on deal? Overall maintained looking at CarFax

That warranty was a big factor for me when buying my my 2015 tdi passat. If your trying to get the most out of that warranty, look for a car with the latest in service date as well as low milage. My car was never sold/registered untill july of 2017 and it only has 31k, so ive got just under 9 years 131k left of warranty that is guaranteed to cover everything in that document.

Give us a 140k review update. Then talk to a Toyota corolla owner with the same mileage from the same year. Then you'll realize you got suckered.

Sorry, sold the car long before that.

the new 2019 hyundai elantra eco gets over 40mpg, much cheaper to buy, much cheaper maintenance, and a very dependable car with a great warranty. and dont forget gasoline is much cheaper that diesel. also with all the engine killing smog crap and def fluid its just not worth it to own a diesel truck or car.
@FocusedGarage5 жыл бұрын
The Elantra also makes significantly less power and has less driving dynamics. However you are right, the cost of keeping the Hyundai on the road will be cheaper long term as compared to the VW. Depending on where you live in the US, diesel may be cheaper. Two different cars for two different types of people.
