one little suggestion,don't put diesel fluid in the central hole,in fact that hole is for clean fuel,put the fuel from the outside holes of the filter,in this way you don't allow to dirty fuel to go directly in high pressure pump.

@@ahmetasi1117 If you are manually priming the filter as in your video, you should remove the yellow plug AFTER priming. You did it before and this may end up in dirt on the wrong side of the filter.

You must activate the diesel pump with VCDS before starting the engine and thus fill the filter. So bleed the system ... Du musst vor dem Motorstart mit VCDS die Dieselpumpe aktivieren und somit den Filter befüllen . Also das System entlüften...

Remove the center cap only after you put the diesel , is not good for the injectors to get unfiltered diesel, in rest good job.

Prime the fuel filter with VCDS. Starting high pressure fuel pump on dry even 2 seconds may end with small metal particles in injectors and pump(1500eur ++). This pump is prone to failure at this stage. So please people.. do not follow this method there is official VW method for changing fuel filter on this car. I'm sure you can find it on youtube.

Mann PU8028 (50 mm longer than PU8021) can be installed too in 1.6 TDI.

Wonder if after 3 yrs from your comment you may still answer me, can you confirm what you wrote? I need to order the spare part from another country as the garage here says the newer ones they have available here don't fit the case. My specs are exactly as in the Golf in the video

@@simonemezzedimi4054 I have the same engine and Mann Pu8028 fitted. Mann catalogue reports that Pu 8021 is obsolete and it is substituted by 8028 which is about 50 mm longer.

Hello, just recieved my fuel filter replacement yesterday from the brand Mahle but I have some doubts. Inside de box came the bare filter, not inside a plastic bag or anything,also I saw they typically come with a cap on the upper hole but this one came without it plus it has very small particles like a little bit of dust that comes off when you rub it, It's the first time I'm doing this replacement so I don't know if this is normal. I'd be glad to know what you think guys.

Somehow Volkswagen uses a smaller filter than Skoda. I replace a PU8028, almost 50% longer than the PU8006.

Please remember that NOW NEW MODEL is PU8028, and it is longer than PU8021 (PU8006). It is ok.

Yes if you want to do it by the book and no if you simply have no other choice and it's an absolute last resort.

@@EnglandsVoice Your being over charged.A genuine vag fuel filter is 30euro and 20euro to fit it in a main dealer.Really if you cannot afford 50euro to change a filter you would be better off selling your car and walking as you simply cant afford to run it.

@@ianpurcell7266 I used to work in a garage mate, oil & filter new less than £50 then £50 Labour, as oil drains out, Labour charge take off oil cap replace oil cap put in oil leave to settle, that's not cheap mate, I can do this myself , if I buy the parts for less than £50 pounds , not much Labour is needed to take a screw out mate, that's all and unscrew a oil filter , and replace, it's not rocket science, it's easy , that is way off price for a simple oil change, as Labour is not really the point, do you charge time for oil to drain out also, ?

Zdravím, skvělé video, jen se zeptám, objednal jsem pro Golf 7 Hatchback 1.6 TDI filtr značek MANN-FILTER ale má i vývod pro ventil vzduchu nebo vody či co to je, ale můj golf ho nemá, musím filtr vrátit nebo můžu ten vývod laser-bladem odstřihnout - použít tento? Ve specifikacich prodejce bylo řečeno že pasovat bude, ale ten vývod přesahuje vnější hranu a do me nádrže by se nevešel s tím vyvodem, nicméně to vypadá že kdyby se mi ho bezpečně podařilo uriznout tak ničemu vadit nebude. Ale teď se dívám že se mírně liší i v milimetrech obvodu vnějšího. Je to model PU 8014. Předem díky

Looks like this was done in the wrong order. Change Filter > use VCDS to do fuel pump cycle > then start. I know someone who cause numerous high pressure fuel pump issues by not doing the VCDS bit.

1500euro for a hpfp.It may fail it may not.Modern cars are not serviced the same as old cars from say 10years ago.To be honest the fuel filter should be changed in a clean room.

Dont tight too much. You may damage bolt thread. I recommend using torque wrench.

I did the first change @ 160k km (100k miles). It was still not overly dirty. I think the necessity depends on how dirty the tanks at your fuel stations are. On the bottom of the outer pot I found small rust particles that may come from the tanks at the stations.

@@franktechmaniac7488 personally I would change it every year - for the sake of spending €25, and it takes less than 10 mins (I appreciate this video, but the process seen here is overkill) the whole service for this car if done yourself using MANN filters and OE Castrol oil is about €120, including the diesel filter.

some air in the fuel system. but only the first start. the air is expelled. calmly replace himself. it is not necessary vag.

Yes. If you start form the first bolt he mounted and count counter-clock wise, the correct order would be 5-2-4-1-3, which his first bolt should be the last one. And by using a straigt screwdriver, he probably did not reach the required 5Nm torque. The tighthen order and torque is printed at the inner side of Mann filter box. He just didn't read.

Did the siphoned out fuel get poured back in to the filter? .... that's a no in my book. Don't fill through the center filter hole. That defeats the filter's purpose, especially if the fuel has been siphoned out!

@@alexisxyz7531 I can't comment because I don't know the requirements of the filter you have. However since the video is VW focused, I'll presume your vehicle is also VW. May I suggest you go to Mann Filters website and compare the equivalent filter of what you've ordered there bearing in mind Mann are also OE to VW. If its a VW, my choices would be Mann 1st, Hengst 2nd.

I just made sure I had a old towel to collect overspill and made sure there was no air space when I replaced the top of the filter housing ( and did not overtighten ) I did not have a torque wrench , but used my cordless clutch and gripped it to test the approx torque at the various setting at which it slipped , then used that to get an even , but minimal torque.

Omg please use a torque wrench to 5nm +/- 1nm and torque in sequence. If your going to do it please do it correctly.

Bei dieser Prozedur bleibt zu viel Luft im System, das merkt man auch am schlechten Start. Bei einem ordentlich entlüfteten System würde das Fahrzeug sofort starten. Luft im System ist Gift für die Hochdruckpumpe. Einen Schaden an der Hochdruckpumpe merkt man nicht sofort, das Problem tritt deutlich später auf. Eine kaputte Hochdruckpumpe kostet viel Geld und kann die Injektoren mit unbrauchbar machen. Sucht euch einen bekannten mit Diagnosegerät und lasst das Fahrzeug erst sauber entlüften, bevor ihr den Motor startet. Nur weil das Fahrzeug läuft, heißt das nicht, dass es auch gut war.

Würde es auch reichen, wenn der Behälter nur über VCDS, (oder alternativ über OBDeleven) entlüftet wird also das manuelle Befüllen mit Kraftstoff wie im Video mit der Flasche gezeigt weglässt?

@@tobiasotto5898 Hab die Kraftstoffpumpe mit VCDS mehrfach angesteuert ohne den Filter vorher zu befüllen, aber du musst es mindestens ingesamt 5 Minuten lang befüllen, sonst orgelt der Motor und springt nicht sofort an. Wenn man schon Diesel einfüllt, dann aber bitte nicht in das Loch in der Mitte, sondern von außen oder bevor der Filter eingesetzt wird. Ein einziger Span der härteren Sorte kann Pumpe oder Injektor zerstören.
