Thanks for posting this video. It makes things so much easier when you know for sure what you are doing. I will be doing this tomorrow. Great stuff.

Another excellent video, as the one about manual transmission oil change. 👍💪👏 Could you please show how to disassemble the air inlet plastic that is just in front of the airbox. I have a resonance issue between about 1000-2000 rpm, and the solution seems to be to put foam on the plastic pipes at the joints from inlet to airbox.

awesome video yet again! Quick question, how do you remove the battery off the scion xA? The positive terminal is giving me some sort hassle, do I unscrew the side bold and top that is attached to the box?

Like the vid!! Are you going to sell your tdi back or get the fix done? I have a 2013 Jetta Sportwagen and am trying to decide what to do.

Jack Klug Thanks! I'm definitely keeping the car. I don't think I'll be eligible for the fix since I straight-piped the car and got a tune. I sold the emissions equipment a couple years ago lol My state doesn't do emissions testing so I'm not really concerned with that aspect. I really love the car and plan to put a couple 100k miles on it!

Just a comment: I turned in my 2012, which had 91K miles. Then VW fixed them and I bought a 2014 last year from a dealer for only $12,500. I loved my 2012, but I had to take the deal. It was too good to pass up. Now I am a happy camper again.

Is it necessary to have the insulation screen on the filter? I ordered a new filter and it doesn't have it. Installed the air filter and now the glow plugs light is flashing and the check engine light is on. Codes 1348 and P0544 posting. Checked all connectors for EGT and no issue found. Any thoughts?

You don't have to have the pre-filter. Those codes could mean the actual sensor is bad if you have verified the connections are good. It's not a super common problem, but it happens. From my reading it looks like a 2-3hr job to replace. If you don't want to take it to the dealer check out the TDIClub forums, they have a list of trusted intependant VW/Audi mechanics my location. Hope this helps!

Or if your car is still under warranty, take it to the dealer lol

Is upgrading you're tdi a risk to the engine
@InTheGarageDIY4 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you mean by upgrading. Tuning? Ait filter? Intake? Turbo?

Why a MANN filter? Why not another filter on the market?
@badassesunite5 жыл бұрын
MANN products are known to be top of the line. I believe VW specifically recommends MANN air filters.

Good vid BUT never rest your tools inside the engine compartment. Don't be like me and learn that the hard way.
