Today we are staring on the DIY Volksrod frame head extension bracing to ensure it is tough and will endure years of on and off road use.
Part 4 to a multipart series on a combo build where we are mixing a Volksrod, Baja, Racecar and other designs from all types of Volkswagen Beetle builds and rolling it into one epic build... I hope lol

Once the extension is done, the body is coming off of the chassis..... so much work to be done lol

I appreciate that Dan, it sure would be easier with a cnc machine but let’s be honest.... we can’t afford those! Hope you’re doing well, miss seeing your updates.

@@VWJawbreaker Even if one had a CNC, it take away a persons creativity and skill set; old school baby the best path and more enjoyable. We been getting ready for what my son and I know will be the next challenge: me being in a whellchair. Our 126 year old 2-story house, it is not wheelchair friendly. It is a challenge to find a home that is close to my son job in the big city. Next finding a home that will work for all of our needs within my price range. We found one and started the process of buying it, the deal could fall through, but fingers crossed. Will know more later during this brand new month..wow time goes by fast. Enjoying your project..

Looking good. Make it work with what you have. End of the day it's your car you can do what you want. I just realized this weekend is Lakeland :( we won't be making it down but Bug Jam is coming next month.

Can’t beat a stick welder for decent welds if the metals thick enough, I have trouble with my MIG when on thick stuff. My next project is a teardrop for Clive, the stick will come out of the dust for that. Good bracing though. Nothing wrong with using a gas axe either, saves on 10 cutting discs for the grinder. Man, work always interferes. That’s why I’m a day behind watching you

Dean Robinson yes sir, they metal was a little thick for my mig... plus my mig has been acting up. Use what I have available, easy and more practical imo. Sure it would be nice to get all kinds of new equipment but who can afford that?!? Stay safe and have a great week my friend!

If you look at the side of the body, the driver side flairs out more as where the center of both frame heads are aligned.

Hi Kevin, I trying make a adaptation in my car VW /beetle, and I have some problems with the mesuare. You can say to me the height and width of the your beam extender? I mean... I try making one that and my problem is the right mesuares, because I will convert for cm (centimeter). Thanks from Brazil.
