A quick 1st light with the WarpAstron WD-20, performing a PolarAlignment and a PHD2 guiding test. Spoiler alert - The WD-20 got down to 0.27" during the night and averaged 0.35" with a 400mm Refractor. #WarpAstron #astronomy #phd2

Nice! Good to know I wasn't crazy during my review!

Hi Cuiv, you're certainly not crazy. My initial test backs up everything you said, and i bought this mount based on your Video, so many thanks for that. I have to say i was extremely surprised when i regularly saw the mount dropping below 0.30" and was averaging about 0.35. I never dreamt that i would see that level of performance from this type of mount under Bortle 7-8 skies. I'm going to test it with a heavier load this weekend and try my 10" quattro - Will be interesting to see how it handles it, and if i can get it down to 0.6" with a heavy load i will be super happy.

I can only tell you from my testing with the little 72mm refractor it was amazing. Potentially clear sky on Monday so hope to test the Quattro

Nice but I would have loved to see a guide log analysis.

I've only had 2x1h sessions where i was testing different scopes and tweaking settings bit, so not a lot to share at the moment. Once i get a full night of imaging as upload the logs and post a link to them

Its seems a cool bit of kit, but £3k could get an am5 tripod and decent scope for same price. Seems very nice though and id love one

Yeah it's not cheap but with my small refractor getting down as low as 0.27" certainly made me feel like it was money well spent

If they make a bigger mount in the future they might just call it that for fun.

How is the overall Polar Alignment experience? Is there any backlash while doing PA?
@astrotube396726 күн бұрын
Hi, The polar alignment is fine, it's pretty much on par with most other mass produced mounts. There is always a bit of slop in the Altitude adjustment but it nothing too bad. I've managed to get my PA down as low as 5" arc-seconds. So i dont think you can really ask much more than that.

Fab review thank you. On watching Cuiv's review of this mount I decided to buy this mount but have not taken possession of it yet. I was just wondering about the onstep software though, as Cuiv mentioned that he had an issue with the meridian flip and the onstep default settings. Did you have the same issue or concern over these settings? I think Cuiv later set the meridian limit East to zero degrees and west to 5 degrees or so. Having had time to use this mount now, are you still happy with it and would you still highly recommend it? Thank you

Due to bad weather I’ve only had 1 outing with the mount so still too early to say conclusively bit it was a very good first run. The meridian flip issues has been fixed by latest firmware and works fine. I have tested it a few times. OnStep has a few odd little quirks but nothing to worry about. I’m planned for clear sky tonight so hoping to test with a big heavy load - my 10” Quattro weighing 18kg

I’m hoping for a clear night tonight to see how well the WD-20 handles a long heavy scope. So if it is clear tonight I’ll hopefully post the results tomorrow

@@astrotube3967 good skills, do you know what the Periodic Error figures are for this mount?
@astrotube39679 күн бұрын
@@julianmatthews3262 Honestly not sure but i think it's pretty high around the 20-30 mark, but it's almost irrelevant as the servo motors respond quickly when coupled with the motor encoders.

Too Pricey unfortunately The whole idea of more manufacturers bringing these mounts into the market is to create competition not collusion the price is a joke. It's too expensive for what it is.
@astrotube396724 күн бұрын
Yes unfortunately it's an expensive hobby and these mounts are relatively new design concepts so you pay a premium for the convenience of it being very portable and having zero backlash.
@nikaxstrophotography24 күн бұрын
@@astrotube3967 the componentry is less complex than a GEm mount so...... just because it is new and with all the new players on the market doesn't mean they need to be overpriced and they ARE over priced.
