What will CarMax offer for my 1982 Ford EXP? Today, we find out! Now that the EXP is mostly sorted I wanted to drive it to Cars and Coffee to hang out with everyone. After grabbing some lunch at Pourhouse I head to CarMax to have them appraise the EXP. The only question left is how much they'll offer me?

Some of those venture vans could smoke the tires! I worked at a Chevy dealership in the late 90's and we had one as a customer shuttle and we were constantly going through tires on it, lol

@@WatchJRGo You value cars that fall under the "Special Interest", or what I prefer "The Rest & the Rare" categories. I am thankful there are others who are more excited to see or drive what have become, or always were, oddities. I appreciate the Audi A8 & the like, but it's the Rampage, SVX, EXP & even the Tracker that has me returning for more. Great channel!

Ford Escort EXP was as common as a Honda Civic is today. Most of them were driven until the frames rusted from road salt and had to be scrapped. I don't recall seeing many of them after the early 90s. Once upon a time, I remember seeing them everywhere every day. I had a 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z that I bought in '87 but I had my eye on an EXP if the Daytona had sold before I could scrape up the cash. It's strange for me to think of the EXP as rare considering how many of those things used to be on the road.

J Dial yeah we nearly ran it off a bridge on the way to big bear being stupid 16 yr olds with no driving experience worth mentioning. Never heard of one before or since until these videos

I go to cars and coffee in Shakopee MN, and I love when people drive up in oddball cars like this. Exotics are a dime a dozen at these shows, a Ford EXP rolling in would get a lot of attention.

Having lived in Wichita and still visiting about once a month, it's weird watching someone and seeing Wichita police vehicles and other things around Wichita. But at the same time cool knowing that one of the people I watch on KZfaq live somewhere I relatively know decently. If I ever get the chance to meet you, you seem like a guy who gets along with most people. I won't say everyone just because there has got to be some people that you haven't gotten along with well.

Without watching, I think Carmax will offer $300. Edits below: $700$$$ That's surprising. I'd rather keep it and finish the bodywork. It's rare and fun.

If the right buyer was looking for an EXP which is so rare, they would give you probably 10x of the appraisal because that car is so special

Found memories of that car. Mom had one in 85 or 86, at hatchback. I was 5 or 6 years old. I remember riding in the back with the seat down as we moved from Maryland to Florida. You don't see many of these anymore.

I was a Ford dealer mechanic in 1981. I remember the 2 recalls the Ford EXP and Mercury LN7 had. Fuel tank ground strap and the 2 carburetor jets. Flashbacks 😲

Now that you mention the Venture Warner Bros, not many Oldsmobile Silhouette Premieres aren't around anymore. On Tuesday, I spotted the first one I have seen in about 5 years. My family used to have one. I miss those vans, esp the column shifter and the door closing chimes. Never was old enough to drive it though :(

I had a 2003 Chevy (Warner Bros.) Venture....the DVD player had trouble playing any other DVD that wasn't Warner Bros.

Id like to buy a manual one. I had a new Maroon 84 model back then when I lived in Detroit.....on real hot summer days if I had a car full of prople it would start to overheat in bumper to bumper traffic.....other than that ran great and was fun to drive with the manual tranny. Traded it in for a New 87 Chevy Turbo Sprint here in So Cal and I have NEVER seen a EXP on the road here in So Cal. I was told they didn't sell well out here.

Had an older EXP in the early 90s through some of HS and college. Five speed manual, it was awesome. Really unique and mine at least was fun to drive.

Back then the only legal headlights were the old sealed beam (round or rectangular.) No special headlight shapes. Unless a car had pop-up lights, you had vertical sealed beams which were flush with a grille or in some kind of "bucket" as you observed. Ford designer Jack Telnac wanted pop-up lights on the EXP, but couldn't get them at that price point.

I had a in 85 S10 with a 2.5 l four cylinder with a 4-speed manual my dad ordered it from the dealership brand new it didn't even have a rear bumper or radio when he got it it got retired to me in 99 the shocks were so bad I could Goose the throttle and get the front tires the bounce off the ground

I have the 1982 Subaru HatchBack, with the tri-cyclops head light under the subaru symbol. Same silver color as your Ford. It's so slow, has no power steering, but I won't trade it. Keep that Ford, well worth it just for memories.

When I was a teenager, my friends dad had the newer Ford Escort version of the EXP. He ordered it at the dealer with the Isuzu diesel engine, usually installed in the Diesel Escort and Tempo. His EXP was a 5 speed manual. I was always curious how the EXP he had was a diesel straight from the dealer. My assumption is the car had a regular EXP VIN without a Diesel engine code and the dealer bought the engine and all the parts and coverted it for him since all the parts were interchangeable with the regular Escort. After researching, they never made an EXP diesel so this was my assumption. I will verify it was def a diesel. We used it a few times and always had to fill it at the diesel pump.

I used to have an 1982 grey Ford EXP and with a manual transmission and a hatchback. I paid $500.00 for it from a car dealership named, “Boulevard Cars”, on Bragg Blvd in Fayetteville, NC and drove it over 35,000 miles. I ended up selling to another car lot across the street from where I bought the car for $500.00 as a trade it. I wish that I would be kept it, considering how rare it is to find one.
