The barn conversion begins! As Laura stated nice and steady gets the job done, please do not rush this part, it’s the most important as it’s sealing your new living quarters and preventing any external elements/creatures from getting inside. Great work, “keep the faith” and continue to look after each other.

And what a beautiful barn it is, those granite stones ? Just wauw, people will pay a fortune for those. So like said before, easy as it goes. But it will be beautiful when it's done and it will last another few hundred years.

Remember the soft brush for when you're pointing. Once it's been allowed to dry for a bit, soft brush (about a foot long one) it down for a smooth finish and it'll iron out any trowel lines. Also if there's a bit of concrete in the stone that looks like it could be hiding a can of worms, it might just be hiding a can of worms and could be best left alone overall, rather than chiselling it out in search of stone, if that makes sense. Good luck :)

Hi Dan and Laura, the stone on the barn is really shining but it will pop with some lime mortar around them when you get them pointed up. Some of them holes where the wood was will have been where the old original builders had their scaffolding as they used bits of wooden branches coming out of the wall then placed their boards across them if you look you can see the holes are in a line across the walls about every 2 to and a half foot above each other. It’s quite clever how they did it really as there wasn’t any metal scaffolding about them days. You can see the holes on all old building from it. Anyway good luck and we’ll see you in a fortnight unless you go back to weekly videos? You’re doing a great job keep it up.😊😊😊😊

Loving what your doing with the land. Have you considered using lime mortar to point the barn? I have spent most of this year working in a 14th century castle that had been renovated in the 1930's. Unfortunately they had pointed the walls with Portland cement causing condensation build up to the point where water was running down the walls inside. The castle has just had a £5 million refurb that included removing the cement and repointing with traditional lime mortar to allow the walls to breath again and avoid future problems with condensation.

Hi Dan & Laura! Look into what materials you will be using for pointing. Limestone & sand lets the walls breathe eliminating mold from growing like cement does. Cement will cause respiratory problems down the road. So just make sure you pick the right material for you and your future growing family. Also, Martijn Doolaard, a You tuber @MartijnDoolaard•597K, he bought a ruin on the alps in Italy and he is doing a beautiful job on his stone buildings that you can get a lot of pointers from. Barn bricks looks awesome, good job. For the floor instead of putting concrete try to put "Rammed earth" which is an ancient construction method used even today. Howdy Laura and Dan. It’s always a pleasure to see you two, working on your barn. You really have made a lot of progress. It’s amazing what you have done, inch by inch, and with so much patience. You two are such an inspiration and a good working team. Blessings to you both and stay healthy. Till next video.

Dan, those wooden 'pegs' you're finding were often put in place deliberately, as fixing points - you might find it handy to put some back in, if they're in appropriate places for hanging a curtain rail, for example.
