We were using ring traps with chicken necks to catch blue crabs. We were shocked when we pulled up a giant snapping turtle! Thankfully it jumped out of the ring net and swam away.

This snapping turtle was huge! At least we know our knot tying skills are good because our paracord lines held on the crab trap. This turtle got our bait and them jumped off the trap and swam away.

We said we knew our knot tying was good if the lines didn't snap. We replaced the lines on our cheap traps with a Paracord material a few years ago.

Yes, that pointed snout and long tail. It was really quite heavy, but luckily our crab trap didn't break.

Yes, these types of turtles have powerful bites and I did not want to go near it.

Yes, the crab trap felt heavy with the turtle in it.
