Perfect live choice !! Lex got it ... the tribal beat drives the song from beginning to end. I don't think Mick Fleetwood's talent gets enough credit to the bands success. Every live song that pans to him displays an artist who is ALL IN, and rhythmically perfect.

A Lindsay Buckingham creation. They used the USC marching band for the original recording, and since then it's tradition for the marching band to play this song at football games. The drummer is Mick Fleetwood, half of the band's name (along with bassist John McVie "Mac")

Mick Fleetwood and John (Mac) McVie are technically the bosses in the band. Both Mick Fleetwood and John (Mac) McVie had their professional start - name wise - with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. Much like Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Greene etc... Fleetwood Mac is one of those bands which went through many line-up changes, nearly as many as the Bluesbreakers had though. :) Anyway, are pretty much three sonically different eras of Fleetwood Mac... the early successes with Peter Greene, Danny Kirwan with the songs Oh Well, Black Magic Woman (most people know Santana's cover of it) and Albatross I'd state as one up until, Bob Welch - Bare Trees with Sentimental Lady, Sunny Side of Heaven a totally different sound - and where Christine (Perfect) McVie joins in - seems an entirely different sound up to when the Buckingham/Nicks version everyone knows very well - Fleetwood hired Buckingham to replace Bob Welch when he left... just so happened Buckingham told him he would not join without Stevie - and that is the version most people know due the commercial successes - having three really good talents up front and they're great song writers in a band goes a long way... not to mention Buckingham's a great ear for production.

One more time. Mick Fleetwood, drummer, his band! Rest in peace Christine. 11 March 2023 my own update, should also include Jeremy Spencer and Peter Green along with Mick Fleetwood founding members originally. The name Mac was to entice John McVie to join the band. Still learning something new everyday for myself thank you very much.

An odd but very catchy track, and one you hear more details in every time you listen to it. It was the title track to their most ambitious album, one which wasn't the instant ear-candy of the previous two or three albums but was more like a treasure chest - every time you dig into it you come up with another amazing gem. RIP Christine McVie.

As other people have noted, Mick Fleetwood is the drummer and the co-founder of the band (the "Mac" refers to bassist John McVie). He's an excellent drummer, although his style is more like that of Ringo Starr: a steady simple backbeat with drum fills and cymbal crashes included in the appropriate spots of the songs. He's not a fancy flashy technical soloist, but a very musical and supportive player who adds to the overall sound of the band. The song itself started as a guitar riff that they used to play at soundchecks to get the sound levels right (you can find some examples of it on KZfaq), and it gradually morphed into a song. The brass band idea came from when Mick Fleetwood was vacationing in a small French village and was awakened one morning by the local marching band playing in the street - he quickly realized that it would fit the soundcheck riff. The title Tusk was a blatant reference to male genitalia.

Seeing them in concert is amazing. The drums send a powerful thumping vibration through your chest. Mick Fleetwood is an amazing person, musician, drummer, and the person that did his best to hold the band together over the years. I love his energy and at 75 it makes me sad that all the amazing bands I loved and grew up with are in their final years of playing or have stopped. I was so glad to see Ozzy Osbourne win two Grammy's for the first time this year and at 74 on his new album "Patient number 9" for best album and best new rock song. He deserves the recognition for still making amazing music even now at his age and with his health issues.

I wonder how many people know that this not the original Fleetwood Mac. The Band was formed by Peter Green in 1967. He meet Mick Fleetwood and John McVie when they were in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Green said they were his favorite rhythm section, so he named the band after them. The other members were Jeremy Spencer and later Danny Kirwan. Pete Green was an outstanding guitarist, but he took too many drugs mainly LSD. He got religion and became a Monk. The band fell apart in the early '70. Christi married McVie and Fleetwood heard Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham in the US and asked them to join. The rest most people know. Some of the originals hits are "Oh, Well part1 & part 2" "Albatross" and" Man of the World"

Story goes that #FleetwoodMac was finishing up recording the follow-up album to "Rumors". Mic Fleetwood {drummer} wanted to name the album "Tusk". Stevie Nicks objected. She didn't care for the name because it kept reminding her of the poaching of rhinos & elephants for their tusks. Mic didn't care and used the name anyway. A song was also written entitled "Tusk" and added to the album. Sometime later, Stevie found out that the word "Tusk" is also Mic's 'pet name' for the *male member*. Stevie hated it even more.

The story of the song is that it was written about the drummer "Mick Fleetwood" and Stevie Nicks being caught having an affair. "Tusk" refers to what Mick supposedly called a certain appendage of his...although he still denies it.
