I like that the trailer repeats the dad saying “he’s just a sweet little boy” it shows his carelessness and how most parents don’t ever think their own child could do something so terrifying
@nani_bow34892 жыл бұрын
The father show more affectionate compared to the mother. The mother treated kevin badly even say that he's a burden when he was a child and broke his arm. The mothers action is what led kevin to become a psycho. The father calls him sweet because kevin was always nice to the father, but not to the mother. Read the book and you know how much the mother dislike him since the beginning

@@nani_bow3489 I didn’t know there was a book, I’ll have to read it. I definitely think the father was a much better and caring parent than the mother. I don’t know why I said carelessness, obviously he cared about his son. While he didn’t show any concern about what his kid might be capable of and how the mom’s poor relationship with Kevin affected him mentally, I don’t think it’s his fault either. I wonder what would have happened if the father wasn’t killed.

This movie hits so close to home. It haunts me. I'm often brought back to the trailer, because my mother was a Special Education teacher in elementary school and most of her kids were beautiful and thoughtful and eager to try and do well in life. But every so often she'd get a kid she knew was a "Kevin" and all she could do was talk to admin about it. Nothing was ever done. She had five or six students who raised major red flags when they were in her class. She would bring it to the attention of the school and the school board, but was often dismissed. All five of those kids are now adults. Two in jail for plotting a mass shooting. One who is in jail for murder. And two others who were imprisoned for violent acts. I know in my heart she would have known the instant she met Kevin. The mother knew. No one listened. No one cared.

When she's hiding in the store she's hiding in front of cans of tomatoes, because now she feels trapped in her life. Then the red paint on her house, the red lights reflecting on her when she drives back home the halloween night, which totally reminds of police lights, etc etc. I'm encouraging you to got back and watch for the color red, what objects are red and in what settings, it' s full of symbolism. She deserved everything she got from the rest of society. She may not have deserved Kevin, but it was her responsibility to raise a big stink about how messed up he was.

The father was the bigger culprit. The mother was powerless because the father was a massive dope and enabler of Kevin's antagonistic behavior towards her. She was weak, the father was an absolute imbecile though.
