Do you think I am being over trained? I'm only in middle school and my coach is making our team routinely run weeks that look like this: long run, 400's (10-18), 800's (6-8), mile repeats (6), and sometimes a fartlek. I would like some input on this. Thanks!
@talentlesscommenter1329
@talentlesscommenter1329 2 жыл бұрын
The only problem with training too much is injury risk, if you have a solid base from the off season, do stretching/dynamics, and take easy days easy you should be good.
@LLexandleovloggs
@LLexandleovloggs 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know just from this, but that’s a good question. Overtraining isn’t about how much your doing but how you handle it. Do you feel like you can recover enough for the next hard day? Does your body feel overly depleted by the end of the day on a regular basis? How many miles are you hitting? And what sort of rest/ recovery physically and mentally do you do to sustain this? Ask yourself some of these questions, I hope this helps
@nateegivens
@nateegivens 2 жыл бұрын
@@LLexandleovloggs Thank you! Yes, at the end of the day I am also exhausted, and not usually prepared for the next “hard” day. For some reason, our coach makes us run multiple of these “hard” days in a row and a lot of people on the team say they can’t handle it. As for the pace on these runs, I would say about 70% of the things we do are at/below race pace.
@noahhartner7066
@noahhartner7066 2 жыл бұрын
70% is definitely overtraining. A lot of people follow the 80/20 rule which means that only 20% of your mileage is at hard or tempo effort. This is not a hard rule but something that far away from it is not okay. My high school XC team would typically do one hard workout, a lighter workout and sometimes a race each week for comparison.
@cavinmuff1415
