Thanks in no small part to this (in my HO the best of SO many I've seen) review I finally did it, went out and bought the 1100 Special for a crackin' price after 12 months of deliberation. Thank you so much for making a video which is more relevant to the real world perspective buyers who would be riding on the road for every day purposes. This helps clear out a lot of things that I look for in reviews not just numbers and specs of the bike and how fast it can ride on track and the gadgets that help it perform on track. How often will one have the time to go on track and buy something just for that purpose. Please keep on making more such videos. Love from India ❤❤❤

I just got one about 2 weeks ago and is exactly what I wanted from a bike It can do so many things ! Is like 3 bikes in one seriously Fun to ride ! Love the sound of the exhaust being the stock one , gear box and clutch are so smooth and can be aggressive if you want to ! Is very comfortable even with someone in the back , the more you get to know the bike the more you get from it , I’m happy I got this exact model , I was going for the hypermotard or multistratada but after look at them close and thinking 🤔 I’m 40 and I need a serious bike , this was the right fit ! Thanks for your review! Again ! Cheers 🍻

Went to test ride a Monster 797 here in Thailand last year, liked it. Had an 800 Desert Sled test mule available, rode that, preferred it, even though i'm more of a MonsterMan. Different gearing i think. Sat on the various Scrambler range in the showroom, nice but too small for my 110 kgs and 6'3" frame. Until i spied the 1100's, lovely. Nice colours and much bigger in proportion, really liked them. Must ride one. Not keen on all that plastic shrouding that covers airbox, reg rectifier, oil cooler stuff on the the 796/1100 old Monster range, even worse on the 797 and Scrambler range - hiding a lot of the motor from the R/H side. Surely could be detailed better? Not overly keen on the sticky outy bit on the speedo either, and being a Luddite, not a fan of ride by wire. Having said all that, and being a twin type of guy, i drove 200kms to my nearest Yamaha dealer a month ago to test ride an XSR700 with a cable to the injection bodies, loved that, but the showroom manager said one of his staff wants to sell his farkled out, full system XSR900 triple.... have a go... Possibly the bestest, most insane street motor i have ever ridden. Insane torque and fantastic throttle response. I mean smiles per miles? So, 2 questions John please, what happened to your project XSR900? and what bike do you prefer, Yam triple or Ducati 1100 twin? Both bikes have the same peak torque figures too. Great review as per, TIA.
@StatementPlus4 жыл бұрын
Great review. True words. A bike is never just a sum of it's numbers on paper. The 1100 feels much more substantial and the motor feels way more lively than and of the 800s. It is to the point you'd think the bikes aren't related. It also sounds and revs much nicer, sportier than the R nine T. That is preferential however. I regret getting the Cafe and not the 1100. Likely sell mine privately and pick up a 1100.

Great review mate. I only just discovered this model. I have been thinking about what type motorcycle I would get next. Honestly I had been thinking about a standard bike like a Royal Enfield Continental GT. But I've grown kind of fond of the scrambler look and I'm not serious about an adventure bike. The scrambler looks like a great Urban brawler. The ability to take a dirt trail now and then would be fun. I'm surprised I see the great bargains are leftover 2019 or even 2018 models brand new. Under 10K USD. I think the Ducati will do it all for me and will be my next motorcycle 🤠

@atastefortheroad44754 жыл бұрын
When I reviewed the Special a year + ago I had very similar conclusions. The engine is wonderful and punches well above its weight and the bike handles like a peach in traffic. The 1100 is a superb urban tool that sounds and looks great. Definitely worth looking for a 2nd hand low mileage example. Here in the US there are leftovers around too.

I found 2 with with basically no miles on them. They are 2018's. $8,500-9,000USD. I am going to look at the Yamaha XST700 on Tuesday. The Yamaha has to absolutely slap in order to talk me out of the Scrambler 1100.

@@atastefortheroad4475 Thanks a lot man. I watched your review and I gotta say, great job. Hope you're still riding and enjoying that beautiful VA country side. I have to ask, did you try the 1100 sport at all? Or do you have any experience with the Yamaha's? I found a 2018 1100 Sport for $9,500 with only 75 miles on it. It's a dealer demo bike. Just wondering if you think the Ohlins shocks are worth the extra $500-1000 it will tack on to the price of the base models I found for sale.
@atastefortheroad44754 жыл бұрын
@@burroaks772 I haven't ridden the 1100 Sport. I do think the Ohlins are worth the extra and the bike will always be worth more. The Sport (due to its price) has never sold well and will be always be more rare. I haven't had experience w/Yamaha and it's a fine brand. Going this route would be satisfying. But being partial to Ducati, I think you'd really enjoy the 1100 Sport. $9500 is quite good w/only 75 miles. Typically, Ducati requires more miles on a demo bike for a dealer to qualify for the "demo" discount. Ducati must be waiving this. You might see if the dealer will waive the setup and delivery costs because of its demo status. Or see if they can throw something else into the deal. Whatever you choose, Yamaha or Ducati, you'll be getting a nice machine!
@burroaks7724 жыл бұрын
@@atastefortheroad4475 First off, I'd really like to thank you for taking the time to reply to me. Your experience and insight has been extremely valuable. I think with the current situation of how the world economy has been looking, Ducati is probably just trying to push as many of the older year bikes they can off the showroom floor. I'm assuming that's why I'm able to get such good pricing right now. I know the dealerships are wheeling and dealing hard right now too. Luckily I have the advantage of being able to pay cash and not finance the bike. I'm not going to put them through the ringer, because I know they have to make money too. However I think they are looking for an influx of liquid capital over inventory and long term payments. They sweetened the pot by throwing in the first scheduled maintenance @ 621 miles in for free about a $300 value. From what I've read and talked to the dealers about, looks like the 7,500 mile service runs around $600 and the 15,000 is about $1100. So I'm factoring that into my purchase as well. Looking forward to checking out the Yamaha Tuesday. I'll let you know what I decide if you are interested. Otherwise have a great day. Thanks again 👍
