This video made me so emotional! Congratulations on your marriage. My husband and I are also an interracial couple. He is Mexican and I am African American. My parents were always accepting of my husband. As for his family, he was the only one out of 10 children who married outside of their race. At first, my in laws weren’t thrilled about me. I think it was mostly because they didn’t know any better. Once they took the time to get to know me and saw how much I loved their son, they were on board. When we had our 1st child, it sealed the deal. By the time the twins came, they were head over heels in love with our children. They would always tell us how proud they were of us for raising such great kids and how beautiful our mix was. I became very close with my mother and father in law. They were really my 2nd parents. My mother in law passed away a little over 3 years ago. I miss her every single day. Ironically, she passed exactly 3 weeks after my dad died. My dad and my husband were also very close. Give your mother in law some time. She will soon understand that love is the most important factor, not the color of your skin. I’m sure she wants her son to be happy. Since she hasn’t been around the two of you, she probably does not have a clue as to how happy her son is with you. BTW, my husband and I have been married for almost 23 years now and we’re still going strong. Just remember to always be there for each other. Together, you can weather any storm. -Robin ❤️

This world would be a better place if we all realized the common thread that unites us as humans. My father in law (who is Hispanic) told his sons to never marry a Black woman. Goes to show you how the universe works, they BOTH married Black women. He did come to our wedding and he did a toast letting the wedding attendees know that he use to have such a low opinion of Black people (the audience was dominantly Black) and that he since has changed his mind. It was a beautiful thing to see.
