Today I transformed from a powerlifter to a gymnast. This is my once a week session to work on mobility, stretching and just to have some fun doing tricking and gymnastics. Since I'm uploading all my powerlifting training up to a powerlifting meet I thought I might as well upload the gymnastics session as well. A full link to the playlist is below:

Noted, it's a little hard having two skillsets as on youtube you really want to cater to a niche but I got two of them haha

Thanks a lot, it's quite a common one in tricking and can be added to quite easily, I should build on it next time or add something harder at the end!

Hadyn would love to see an Outdoor tricking session whilst summer 2023 is still here! That's if you can fit it in. Also how much would you say lifting has leveled up your tricking? Height, power, confidence to double twist etc.
@HadynWiseman
@HadynWiseman 10 ай бұрын
I'm definitely more powerful but also gained weight which makes twisting slower. I would say that it would help a lot if I was strict with calories and kept my bodyweight very low.

@@HadynWiseman and does it make you less flexible? This is something I need clarity on.

Yeah there seem to be quite a few old gymnasts that try powerlifting though, all end up doing well due to the bodyweight strength

Did you begin with a kicking style martial art ?
@HadynWiseman
@HadynWiseman 10 ай бұрын
I did a bit of everything when I was a child. Karate, Boxing, Judo etc, but nothing had fancy kicks, those were self taught but just having a good round kick helped a lot

Good video! Hey, on the hamstring stretch, flexing the ankle aka lifting the toes actually just stretches the nerves more, not the muscle :)
@drip369
@drip369 10 ай бұрын
Except for the fact that the hamstring tendons cross over the knee so yes he is stretching the muscle a tiny bit more by getting that extra pull down on the kneecap. Your nerves don't stretch, they track with muscles
@pizzaloco
@pizzaloco 10 ай бұрын
@@drip369 OP is right in a way, the nerve isn’t very pliable so it won’t stretch much more, but will experience the feeling of stretch. After all, it’s our nerves that detect any sensation. Lifting the toe won’t change knee extension, so the affect will be pretty much negligible in terms of increasing the stretch on the hamstrings.
@punttijulle
@punttijulle 10 ай бұрын
@@drip369 i've read and seen a few vids saying it's bad for you and had the explanation but yeah, not anything major. Just don't want you to get any problems that's all.

Stretching is just getting your nervous system to realise a position is safe though, so if my nervous system feels more stretch and my body gets used to it and realises that position is safe then my body will allow me to go further. All a stretch is doing is my nervous system contracting muscles to avoid unsafe positions, then me doing them often enough to realise they are safe and being able to then have more mobility before I get restricted. Obviously I need strength in that position for it to actually be safe but I'm unsure what your argument is?@@punttijulle

@@HadynWiseman i don't necessarily have an argument, just trying to look out for you ☺️ But you actually put that into words really well and i appreciate you taking the time to explain. Good luck on your comeback, here to support!

I like the stretching part for sure; did you ever commit much time to stretching for powerlifting at all? Ever find it necessary to counteract the tightness from lifting?
@HadynWiseman
@HadynWiseman 10 ай бұрын
No really, avoiding tightness is better dealt with by going for walks etc and getting blood flow I find. They say motion is lotion.
