Come with me in this series as I vlog my journey of starting over in a new state (moving from California to Tennessee). I mention first apartment tips and hacks, emotional struggles when leaving familiar things behind, shopping hauls, and so much more!
I would love to hear your stories of when you moved in to your first apartment :) Did you remember to get the essentials? First meal? Did you sleep well on your first night? Any advice for someone making that move for the first time?

I know moving into your first apartment can be overwhelming, so I wanted to put together a list of things you will need as soon as you move in to help you get settled. I think that once you are settled in and cozy, you will gain weight. Stress is a factor now and that causes weight loss. Good luck. It will all come together.

There is alot of value in your content, please know that. Somewhere there is someone in your situation that needs to see that they are not alone. I feel like a good # of people need to start over and feel anxious and apprehensive and or isolated. You posting will help someone. I am subbing and I dont know why you have so few subs. Hi Jess! When I relocated from one town to another and got into my apt - I had a hard time falling asleep. It was too quiet and in a new place sure was different. I just had clothes and hygiene products when I moved in. Had to go to Walmart and get food and cleaning supplies . The apt was partially furnished. My Mom and Grandma went and got things to help me with apt. Which I gratefully appreciated. They remodeled the apts. I had to move from upstairs apt to apt on ground floor. I was blessed with the first apt remodeled. I got to know my neighbors and they are all friends of mine now. I have 9 neighbors. Only 10 apts here. I know my way around. Near me there is a. Aldi and Dollar Tree and Walmart. The Aldi and Dollar Tree opened up after I had moved in my apt. I love living alone . Sometimes I get lonely . I then hang out with my friends. My apt is full now. Have tv laptop Roku DVD player. I got a new dining room table from Rooms To Go. Have a new bed set from Ashley's. Have alot more since I moved in. If I ever have to move it's going to be a huge undertaking. So very blessed. God gave me a new home and nice new things.💜

Hi Melissa! I think it is so great that your mom and grandma helped you with your apartment. It is so nice when you don't have to make that transition completely alone ❤️ Thank the Lord for family! Also that is such great news that you have your apartment full and just how you like it. It really is such a great thing to see the progress of gradually adding more things. My ex divorced me behind my back in 2009. I stayed with a friend until my apartment was ready and cried the first night… But I grew to love it and yes the divorce “diet” is something else. Let me tell you ! I accidentally joined theater and now I’m a constant performer and I love it. It’s everything I didn’t know I needed.

I've stayed in an apartment for 20 years. When I had issues with neighbours and music etc I would say "hi, I just thought I'd introduce myself. I've moved into the apartment below /above you". I found that would always make people a little more 'aware' of any noise they made. After that it would be a kind reminder etc. Love your apartment and it's open space, light and view etc. New sub xx

Either way, you have a lot of wisdom to share 😊 I love your approach to letting the neighbors know you are there. Hey Jess! With regards to driving I lived in the US for a year and I’m from South Africa. Getting used to driving on the other side of the road was hard, but what I suggest is drive during peak times. Open Waze and just gps to somewhere where you know you will have a bit of distance and then select leave later. You will be able to see the peak times. In that way you will be able to see where other people drive and get used to the roads a bit more. Also when you get takeout, drive there, don’t order in, so you can get more familiar! Good luck! 🫶🏻

I am finally starting to know the roads a bit better and I celebrated when I could finally go to one location without a GPS 😬❤️ I admire you for living in another country for a year and really putting yourself out of your comfort zone. I have horrible upstairs neighbours they are loud, and heavy footed and have a dog… I cannot tell you how much noise cancelling headphones have changed my life

Hi Rebecca! Okay we totally have this in common. My neighbors are also heavy footed with a dog lol. I can tell when it gets the zoomies. Sounds like a horse 🐎. Noise cancelling headphones are so great and have helped me too! Great tip 😊❤️

Oh baby girl i feel your pain regarding your weight i am underweight due to chronic ill health i have been trying for over a year to gain the weight but it is so difficult if i take my eye of the ball. I also dislike how i look now and i refuse to go out much as i am so critcal of myself and self conscious . I am interested to watch your progress and get some tips. I am a psychiatrist by trade but its so difficult maintaining your own mental health . Stay strong jess u can do it look how far u have already come going through a divorce and relocating ...px

I think it is one of the many admirable traits to be able to give encouragement to strengthen and uplift others even when you are going through your own trials and hardships. I am so sorry you have been through what you have, and I really hope things start looking up for you ❤️ You are right, it is hard to take care of our own mental health, and in my opinion, harder than helping someone else with theirs. It can seem like a monstrous and overwhelming thing. But please know you are not alone. There are so many people like us that are going through things which is why I started this channel…to find a community of people that need encouragement and give encouragement, to build hope and courage to have new beginnings and see the light even when we are surrounded by darkness. ❤️We can do this❤️
