My favorite song off one of my all time favorite albums. Every song on “Silk Degrees” is quality, polished, expertly arranged and produced. It’s one of the few albums I can listen to from start to finish and I don’t even think of skipping a track. For me, Lido Shuffle is my favorite followed by “Georgia”, “What Can I Say”, It’s Over”, “What Do You Want The Girl To Do”, “Jumpstreet”, “Love Me Tomorrow” and “Lowdown”. You should do an album reaction because “Silk Degrees” is 🔥

So, you're favorite songs are the entire album! Same here! I can't believe my band used to do a decent cover of Lido Shuffle. Pretty sure I can't play it now. I was guitar, vocals and that keyboard breakdown. Wow! If there's a local cover band does this song somewhere in Maryland. I will find you. And haunt your dreams!

This is one of the albums you should review. The whole album is great. The first time I heard the album I was in 10th grade, with my best friend, giggling like best friends do, another friend put the album on and from the first notes of 'What Can I Say' there was silence till the last note. We were hooked. There isn't a bad song on the album.

I love the idea of Boz Scaggs writing a song called 'Lockdown' . . . Okay, quick go at some alternate lyrics: Baby’s into runnin’ round, she don’t wear no mask Coughin’ honkin’ in the street, that’s too great a task You say go home babe, it’s a lockdown day She say I got a right to roam I swear she gotta stay at home You better bring that chick around To the sad sad truth The dirty lockdown. Needs a bit of work to scan like the original but I wanted to get in early in case someone else had a go. A great mis-speak! Now I'll actually watch the video. Lido Shuffle was my first memory of a Boz song, so it must have been big in the UK. I do think I had the album, on cassette.
@markharris1125
@markharris1125 Жыл бұрын
The funny thing was, in the UK 'lido' - pronounced 'LIE-do' - is another name for an outdoor swimming pool. I'm sure people thought this song was something to do with that. Yes, this song was fire and I disagree - I wouldn't have minded it being a bit longer. Another song from my university days, it will always bring back happy memories.

I shared a duplex with his bassist, in Sausalito, a small waterfront town just North of San Francisco. On his side of our shared two car carport was all the band stuff he had including his concert container that had boz scaggs stenciled on it. Used to warm my heart pulling into my side and seeing that. It was in ‘92, so well after their hay day, but still tickled.

Had to go back and watch this a second time, love seeing your reactions to Boz. There's a lot more of him to discover. Jo Jo is a must hear. If you'd like a more tender side, try Slow Dancer or Harbor Lights. If you'd like to hear a Motown sound, try You Make It So Hard (To Say No) or What Can I Say. For a funkier side, try Angel Baby or Hercules. Or if you'd like a similar vibe to Lido, Georgia. Any way you choose, more Boz please!

When this song was first released, I thought for months he was referring to Duke Leto from Dune, the novel, and it wasn't until I saw how "Lido" was spelled that I was disabused of that notion. Although, I still think the Dune character (and his grandson after the second novel) inspired the name of the shuffle. Do I know that for sure? No, but hey, a fan can hope.
