Nah, as someone who used to think DnD was cringe and also used to be super into black Butler and cosplayed it Lol It's kind of a canon event so to say for the main dnd lovers to go through a phase of ignoring it because society painted it as "cringe" but it's super fun and I'm glad I played it , super fun roleplaying even if I didn't ever 100% understand the numbers on my character sheet but I loved playing out the lore of my character and the world

@@ViktorErikFade Agreed. I've yet to play DnD, and sure, it sounds cringe due to social stigmas, but I used to play on a WoW RP server (It wasn't dedicated roleplaying, it was back when it was labeled as "RP / Normal", or something), and I did enjoy role-playing with my brother from time to time. Also, I was shocked that my older brother, who is the definition of "I don't take anyone's crap" from a quick glance (200 pounds of pure muscle, not like a body builder, but I've seen him carrying 300+ pounds at a time over moderate & long distances without hardly breaking a sweat. Just about the total opposite of me, lol), was into that kind of thing until I had tried it for myself. I'm not crazy about roleplaying, but it's definitely still got a bit of a negative stigma surrounding it, for sure. Hopefully, like anime has become, it will one day be either the norm or the 'cool thing' that people flex about for some odd reason sometimes, as the boys have discussed in the podcast dozens of times now probably. :P

Just saying, viet people LOVE Antony Bourdain. Vietnam was one of his favorite countries and he had a very deep love for the people and culture. So a lot of viet people love him cause he's a famous celebrity who really appreciates the country. So he's not just any white guy to us! Anthony Bourdain was probably one of the most genuine food "celebrities", even if he hated being called one. And he holds a really special place in a lot of viet people's hearts. Growing up, I didn't think Vietnamese food was that special or cool. But he made me fall in love with it.

So a banh mi is traditionally made on a baguette. This came about from the french colonization of vietnam and a lot of vietnamese cuisine incorporates methods and facets of french culture. Another example is how vietnamese coffee is traditionally made using a french press, and also includes condensed milk, and dairy products are typically scarcely used in the east.

1:37:00 the kids ended up that far because initially they just went to the cave to "explore" a bit (as kids do) as they were going home from practice. However soon after after they got in there was a sudden outbreak of rain, which started flooding the cave (there are signs about not entering the caves during moonsoon season but this was two weeks before, it was an unexpected early downpour). So they got pushed further into the cave, flushed out by the advance of water, and then when the rains stopped they were beyond the entrance which'd drain. So those were kids caught in an unfortunate situation which was hard for them to predict, likewise for trapped miners, these are folks trying to make a living and either through ill luck or (as commonly if not more) company mismanagement and cost cutting they get into a bad situation. OceanGate / Titan was a bloke deciding he had enough money to override physics, it was entirely ego driven, the company was known for unsafe practices, founder & CEO Stockton Rush for firing people who rung alarm bells and disparaging safety regs, and the trip was entirely exclusivity tourism in a flagrant death trap. So it's more like a dude putting a firework up his ass. When someone's suffering the obvious consequences of a deliberate action they were warned about, the empathy tap doesn't get much of a workout. It's like Britain and Brexit, or Russia and the invasion of Ukraine, or most of "america's funniest videos". This is not recent either, they're further on the scale but few people were mourning Adolf on May 1st. Ir Benito on April 29th. More recently Saddam Hussein being found in a cellar or Khaddafi being executed were subject of ridicules, and there were endless jokes about Bin Laden's extraction and burial at sea.

The submarine thing was more because rich dudes go into it, knowing it wasn't safe and a dumb idea, and all media and rescure efforts were focus on them. While at the same time a boat with like 3 hundred people went missing in Greece and there were no efforts put into helping them, the speculation is that since they were Pakistanis immigrants they didn't care as much. But their arrogance didn't let them stop it. So (aside from the kid) they kind've deserved it. While the news didn't care about the immigrant ship that had 300 people dead because of the sea(?) police actions but their life just wasn't as worth it to the news. I remember my mom distinctly complaining that some dishes tasted like desserts to her when we used to go to Korean restaurants often. Ever since we stopped she started cooking more and her food was a little bit gentler. Can agree, I've been to Sapa and it is incredible. The tour guide for your group is someone from the indigenous town, they are very hardworking people. The view and experience is great, and the hiking isn't that hard, its cooling since its on the mountains among the clouds. If you do go there, buy the homegrown tea there! It is sooo good.

I'm really happy Connor talked about his nerves when hosting the auction. I've never been able to present or do anything in front of spectators & when I watched the live stream I thought, "Damn. I'm surprised how well he is at this when I thought he'd be similar to me". Definitely projecting but I go through the same nerves he described & it makes me respect him.

Disneyland in Japan is unique in that it's the only one that was purpose built as a clone of the first and original. The many other Disneyland locations are very much different to each other let alone the US parks. There's differences of course, but the core of Tokyo Disney is meant to be a mirror of the original Disneyland as unlike how they build international parks now; the Japanese side of development did not want an experience tailored to them - they wanted the American experience.

Love the new drip! :D Also I 100% share Garnt's feelings towards the ocean. I grew up around plenty of ocean, I even went snorkeling a lot. Now thanks to the internet, I know in hindsight that I had already had Thalassophobia back then as a kid (I just didn't have a word for it) and it's only gotten worse in recent years. Still, I LOVE beaches and I find the ocean and bodies of water in general absolutely fascinating, especially aquatic wildlife and will read and watch just about anything I can about those topics. Personally tho, I am deathly afraid of going into the water if my feet can't reach the bottom or - worse - if I can't see the bottom.

7:17 A few summers back, we had a heatwave here in my part of the US and it hit around 110F (about 43C) and incredibly humid. When we went outside, the shade just meant it felt like you weren't actively dying. If you stood in the sun, it felt like you were actively dying. It had to have felt at least 15F hotter than it actually was in the sun. But man, the shade didn't help much. My friends and I had planned a trip to go shooting weeks in advance so we still went and even in the middle of the woods, it was miserable outside. We didn't end up staying very long, maybe 1-2 hours, before we decided to GTFO and get back to AC.
