When it comes to getting a new piercing, there are of course risks to consider. But how many of you have actually fully read all the little text about risks on your paperwork? How many folks really understand the risks of getting a piercing? Lately, it seems a lot of folks are not doing much research and are surprised at the outcome of getting a piercing. This video addresses most of the general risks and also my take on them.

I have 30 piercings, but this was still interesting. I have only taken out three piercings. Two were repierced (a forward helix and a rook). The third was when my right nostril fell out less than a week after it was pierced. I tried getting the jewelry back in within five minutes and it had already closed enough that I couldn't get the jewelry back in. I didn't like the piercing enough to get it redone. Since I don't plan to retire any of my piercings, I'm good as far as scars go. My hardest to heal piercings were my first nostril, the first time my rook was pierced and my anti-tragus. Btw I am 68 yo.

Gotta share my belly button disaster: I got a belly button piercing when I was 19 (over a decade ago). My prior piercing experience at that point was 4 earlobe and one helix all done with piercing guns (😬). I did actually read the aftercare instructions, but still proceeded to take atrocious care of my new tummy sparkle. I didn’t understand what migration/rejection were or that if they started to happen I should just take the jewelry out to prevent an even bigger scar…so I left it in until my it just fell off my body and got lucky with a relatively flat scar that’s very close in color to the rest of my skin. The scar bothered me a tiny bit when I was younger, it was darker and I actually showed my belly occasionally, but I knew it was 100% my fault and never got upset about the whole thing. Folks, please listen to your piercers and take care of your piercings. ❤

I looked up your eyebrow piercing blog post that you mentioned and it's educational! I didn't realise a pronounced brow ridge actually made it easier to pierce, given that it's produced by underlying bone, but I guess the bone forces the fleshy bit you actually pierce through to take a different shape.

Yes you are exactly right! It allows the tissue to form more of a shelf or ridge like shape making it more stable for piercing!

My nose is coming on 12 weeks soon if not already and outside looks great. Inside is still sore sometimes. I noticed I may have some scar tissue inside that is causing the sore ness. It’s very tolerable. I’m just wondering if it’ll go away? Anything I can do to help it if that’s what it is?

I'm hoping to get my first actual piercing soon! I unfortunately got my ears pierced with a gun as a kid, but never wear jewelry in them anymore. I am hoping to get my septum pierced :)

a friend of mine has a really great cicatrization experience, changing lobes and nostril piercings jewelry 20-30 days after getting the piercing done without any complications, his perception of getting piercings is SO SKEWED that he was surprised that a coworker hasn't been able to heal their lobes in like 2 months because they're sleeping over the piercings and it's creating irritation, also, I want to have a labret piercing done, but the risk of gum errosion is not worth it for me, also we have to think about the limitations that come with having certain piercings, PA piercings obligate you to sit down if you have to take a pee, and say good bye to using earphones if you have a conch piercing with a ball or gem, if it's a flat disk most likely airpods will be fine.

These are all good points but not all entirely accurate. Many folks with the right jewelry and technique. can still stand with a PA. And unless your conch jewelry is massive and your anatomy more tight headphones usually aren’t an issue with conches. I have a 2g conch with a huge decorative gemmed piece from bvla and I wear all kinds of earphones just fine. :)

@@Lynn_Loheide lynn, don't give me ideas hahahahahaha, I love conch piercings and you're making a great point get them, the reason why I don't have conch piercings and conch to conch industrial is because I don't want to guve listening to music with earphones, most namely, 7hz saltnotes zeros are the earphones I use and I'll be fine using something like a 3mm titanium disk anodized in some kind of blue

@@Lynn_Loheide can you wear airpods while a conch is healing? I had mine done several years ago but due to a bunch of crap happening in my life I had to take it out. I really want to get it redone, but I'm not sure if I should yet bc 1: I get seborrhic dermatitis in my ears in addition to my scalp, plus it seems like my skin regenerates quickly, possibly due to my hEDS (gonna see a dermatologist soon), and 2: need to be able to wear airpods for noise cancelling for my sanity (my over ear ones don't do shit)

@@999samus7 Someone with both a conch and a conch-to-conch industrial here, I actually can wear both earbuds and over-ear headphones with mine. This is anatomy specific, so it will not work for everyone, but it is possible. I was SURE I was going to have to give up earbuds with my industrial, but surprisingly still works okay for me. Granted, earbuds do not fit as well on that ear, they will fall with excess movement. Personally, I don't find that an issue since I use over-ear headphones the majority of the time. I wouldn't worry about the conch in the long run, but you would want to be careful while healing. If you do want a specific piercing like a conch-to-conch industrial however, there is the option of doing a consult with a piercer to see what works best for you. They may be able to adjust placement to work for your needs, see if any lifestyle changes may help/fix your issues with getting it, or recommend a similar piercing you may like. (I've seen people use chains in them before, if that's your style, it may be a good alternative to the typical bar with your earbuds.)

@@adrianv2604 thank you very much for your answer, I really appreciate it, that's the thing, I prefer to use in ear headphones and maybe something like a disk in my conch wouldn't be a problem, but I'm in a point of my life where I don't want to spend money in a piercing just to see if it's possible to use earbuds and then retire it because as you said, they will fall with excessive movement
