what are these sounds? Awful sounds... Troubleshooting time! GLA45 AMG 600+

Is it the HPFP? - Ruled out - No
PVC valve flutter? - No
Fuel Bypass valve? others?
Began as what almost sounded like pulley or water pump squeaking during cold startup. Would go away after 5 minutes of neighborhood driving
Cold start... let idle and warm up, about 3-5 minutes into idle, squeaking begins.
Using stethoscope against HPFP, the noise is very loud against the Fuel Rail and the hardline output from HPFP it is deafening.
Let me hear your thoughts in the comments below.
Results:
The sound is created by the fuel rail valve not handling the fuel pump flow - fluttering the metal valve. The fix was to adjust the fuel pressure control via the ECU calibration.

SO long ago, but once I replaced my turbo wastegate flap and adjusted my BOV, that ticking lessened. Additionally, I ran some octane booster thru it for a couple tanks, and it hasn't come back since. Techron may have also done the trick. Not a huge fan of additives, but it SEEMED to have worked for me :)

So that only occurs on modified A45 AMG? Stock ones should do that? Or is that possible that bad quality petrol/gasoline can lead to a similar pump noise?

ams sound. turbo, pump and intercooler all didn't fit right. whats up with that

What fuel pressure at the rail are you seeing currently? What were you seeing before to cause the noise? Was the AMS pump causing too much pressure? I think I'm experiencing the same problem with my car, except the car doesn't run well at all. Sent AMS logs and they said "its fine".... baffled.

What is the benefit of the ams hpfp ?

Great question. The AMS High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) provides an additional 35%+ flow capacity. As outlined in the HPFP video, the stock pump can only flow 176lph vs 230lph+. Fuel will be the next limiting factor for how much power you can make. Want more power? you need more fuel. Another requirement would be if you are a E85 user (or have access to it), E85 has less energy per mole of fuel vs gasoline - so to make more power, you need more fuel. You want to run E85 - you will need to beef up the fuel system, - bottleneck is the HPFP.

I have a cla 45 . I really wanna upgrade a turbo. But is it worth it? Cuz it is almost 10k for all those parts.

Guess one has to define 'worth it'. 10K to increase power (and all supporting parts to hold it) by >70% is extremely cheap based on any other vehicle I've worked on.

You can accomplish the same setup, with just as good quality as AMS for almost half the cost if you're smart about it. Mambatek makes some nice turbo kits for these cars, they're garrett copies. I bought their GTX3071r and switched the turbo internals with genuine garrett bearings and re-balanced the turbo (saved $1,300 vs what AMS wants for their turbo). I can't say for sure but from what I have seen AMS is using the same turbo housings as Mambatek; aside from company logos, the castings appear to be identical. Wagner tuning has better priced heat exchangers. RVG performance makes a high quality decat DP and mid pipe for $400. You can pickup a Pipercross 4" air intake for around $200... the list goes on. AMS has you on the hpfp, although I did read in an online forum that Nostrum is working on their own hpfp. Everything else aside, you can literally do this build for around $5-5.5k (give or take) including tuning. Best thing about it is, this car is EASY to work on. If you're even moderately mechanically inclined you can do everything yourself saving a ton in labor costs. Not too bad really to have an AWD 600bhp beast that'll gap a hellcat redeye from a roll by bus lengths, LOL.

@@MichaelB-IN-CSETI Nostrum is the producer of the AMS HPFP :) The customer service of AMS is none existent. My pump began to leak and they wanted to sell me a new fuel line for 500 bucks, so I went with the whole new kit.
