Now that you're here, check out Numbers chapter 31 where Moses tells the Israelites to kill all the males and all the males amongst the little ones. And kill all the females that are not virgin. To do so would require examination of all the females to see if their hymens were intact. After killing all and only saving the virgins there are 32,000 virgins. Moses says that there should be a heave offering. In other words a certain percentage heaved off the total for sacrifice. This tax, this offering to Jehovah amounts to 32 virgins. Now some would vehemently argue that they did not sacrifice The virgins but if you read the text you will see that it's clear. These Israelites soldiers just killed all males including baby boys and examined and killed all women who are not virgin. Thousands of people... What's a mere 32 virgins to be sacrificed?

Yeah the Father of the lie is Satan. Jesus did not pray to the Father as depicted in the bible, but he actually acknowledged the true God of LOVE, this being his heavenly MOTHER. Because Jehovah inspired men to pen the bible, naturally he'd fabricate the scriptures to promote himself as the true God effectively deceiving all of Christianity into worshipping him.

And now take a look at Numbers chapter 31. Moses tells the Israelites soldiers to kill all the males including baby boys. And to kill all the females that are not virgin. This would mean the forcible examination to see if their hymens were intact. 32,000 virgins were preserved alive out of hundreds of thousands of people slain. Moses said take a heave offering from The spoils of War. Humans and livestock. A heave offering is a percentage heaved off the whole. A tribute, a tax. 32 virgins were to be heaved out. The high priest in charge of the sacrifices was no cattleman. Humans and livestock given to him were for the sacrifices. While some may argue that they weren't sacrificed, the text is clear. Read it in other Bible translations as well. Keep in mind that the Israelites had just killed all the little boys and baby boys and they had forcibly inspected and killed any female that was not virgin, what is just a mere 32 virgins to sacrifice after killing all those others?

The thing is: God _didn't demand_ of Jephthah to sacrifice his daughter. He made that decision all on his own. Jephthah wasn't even really chosen by God as a Judge, but was practically appointed by the tribe. That his sacrifice of his daughter violates the ban on human sacrifices in the laws of Moses is actually a plotpoint made by the Deuteronomistic Historians: Even the Judges get worse and worse and forget that Jahwe is different from the Canaanite gods.

@@florian8599 You know... maybe Yahweh could have stopped it, like he did Abraham. I mean, even Abraham received the commandment and went to do it. If Yahweh really didn't want it, the very demand wouldn't have been made. "I don't want child sacrifice, but I'm going to demand it just to make sure you are obedient." That is one of the sickest and most cruel things ever written, and yet instead of questioning it, millions of people believe it's one of the best stories. When Jephthah made the vow, a prophet couldn't come and tell him "uh... God doesn't want to sacrifice anyone, what's wrong with you?" Don't use hindsight to not allow yourself reasoning.

I always had trouble with this one myself. One, the idea that Jephthah could "make a deal" with God to gain victory in the battle in exchange for offering up whoever came out of the house upon his return. So God granted Jephthah victory because of that, rather than because it was his will and that he should have been fighting for the Israelites anyway?? Two, the wording, as Lloyd pointed out. Jephthah didn't say that he would offer up whoever came out first as someone who would dedicate his or her life in service in the temple, but as a burnt offering. That's pretty straightforward, and the NWT and the organization have gone to great lengths to spin the account to their interpretation. And three, was Jephthah that stupid or impulsive as to not think of the possibility that it would be his daughter or another loved one who would be first to greet him on his return?
@JohnDoeSchmoe
@JohnDoeSchmoe 2 жыл бұрын
If anything, God, who allegedly sees everything (also in future), should have told Jephtah _"No, what you are suggesting is wrong, I do not want anyone who may come out of your house as an offering, in any way shape or form, but I will help you because you showed a willingness to make a sacrifice."_ Sorta like Abraham was willing to kill his son, but didn't have to go through with it in the end. Both horrible stories IMO, but there you go.

Well, what's more important, Jehovah? That people are sacrificing children to "false gods", or that children are being killed in ritualistic sacrifices?" I wouldn't care about the fact that children were being sacrificed to other gods that supposedly don't exist, I would care more about that fact that children are even being ritualistically murdered as a sacrifice in the first place.

To be honest this was a story I never thought much about. I took the explanation I had been given my whole life without much hesitation. The 2 that always caused me to question things were Lot willing to give up his daughters to a bunch of rapists and Jehovah being merciful allowing David and Bathsheba to live by killing the baby. I had an elder tell me in regards to Lot "look at what his daughters did to him anyway, it's possible Lot knew their hearts were bad". So we give up our children to be raped because they may or may not turn out bad later but still try to save them from death by getting them out of the city God is destroying? The elder told me that Lots story was always used as an example of faith and I needed to try to view it that way. I replied well him and Abraham were willing to sacrifice their children in one way or another and they were praised for it but I wouldn't be willing to do that to my kids if God asked me to or to protect a couple circuit overseers from a mob or whatever. He said it's because we are further away from perfection so we can't see justice the way jehovah does. SMH And the pioneer sister who explained David's baby dying said that sin demanded blood to be repaid and it was better for the kingdom to allow David to keep ruling than to put him to death so the child was the price of blood. This was all pre Jesus sacrifice so things were different and the law required it. I couldn't get past how David could always repent for his sins but people around him died for his mistakes and how it was "good for the kingdom" if God foretold that his family would be divided and his son would try to take the kingship away from him anyway. So I argued this. She said well we don't know if there was something wrong with the baby that it wouldn't have lived anyway. I gave up here. I am interested to know what kind of explanation those two witnesses would offer for Jepthahs daughter lol 😆

Bonnie, read Numbers chapter 31 in various Bible translations. Moses, under the direction of Jehovah, commanded the Israelite soldiers to kill all the males, boys and baby boys, among the midianite captives and all the females that were not virgin. Without a doubt the soldiers held down each female and forcibly inspected her to see if her hymen was intact. Everyone was killed except for 32,000 females. Moses then instructed them to take a heave offering to Jehovah from the spoils of war, livestock and human. A heave offering is an offering heaved off the whole. A percentage, a tribute, a tax. A number of livestock and 32 females where heaved off and given to the high priest to be sacrificed. The high priest was no cattleman, he was in charge of the sacrifices. Some people may argue no but the text is clear and keep in mind that the Israelite soldiers had just slaughtered hundreds of thousands of captives including women, children and little babies. They wouldn't have any objections to sacrificing a mere 32 virgins.

That Jephthah literally sacrificed his own daughter is basically part of the Deuteronomistic Historians' message in Judges: Even the Judges become more and more corrupt and more and more think of Jahwe as a Canaanite deity, forgetting the lesson from the Abraham and Isaak story ("Stop! The God of the Israelites Jehovah, is actually Satan the devil. He is the one who glorifies animal and human sacrifices. When he told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, he really meant it. That was because Jesus was to be born from his line of descendants and he didn't want Jesus in the way to jeopardise his sovereignty. Jesus condemned the Israelites for worshipping their God Jehovah telling them they were from their father the devil and he was a murderer and liar from the very beginning. John 8:44. The commandments given to Moses was a means to control the Israelites effectively taking away their free will. Those who failed to obey all his commandments were put to death in the most horrendous ways imaginable. Deuteronomy 28:15- 68 Jehovah is a God of death, murder and destruction, a God none other than Satan the devil.

Jephthah desperately went "over the top" to secure a win by that vow ...but ended up at the "bottom" - because he realized the Most High could have stopped his daughter from going to the door first. think: if she was just given to "ascent", then why would her friends or anyone lament for that? fact: being given to YHWH in temple service would be a good thing and a blessing to his family and her - but obviously that didn't happen. Judges chapter 12:7 shows when HE died, so "IF" she didn't die from the sacrifice - then when did she? ...no need to try to rewrite scripture because it feels so uncomfortable.

What if some 12 year old kid stepped out of the house first? What would've happened to him? Fortunately this is just a story and never happened, but the lesson it's trying to teach is basically that life isn't fair and we often make it more unfair on our own.

*Yahweh inspired child sacrifice* *Jephthah* was not only an upstanding Yahwist, but was *inspired by Yahweh* to effectively offer a human sacrifice. Nobody corrected him. Neither Yahweh nor Jesus responded to Jephthah’s pledge, “No, we don’t accept child sacrifices.” The Christian passage Hebrews 11:32-33 honors Jephthah as having conquered kingdoms thru *faith.* Jephthah Judges 11:29-12:3 _Then _*_the spirit of Yahweh came on Jephthah_*_ …. And Jephthah made a vow to Yahweh : “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be Yahweh’s, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering {‘ō·lāh}._ It doesn’t say that the spirit left Jephthah between v:29 and :30. Since we can’t insert our own narrative, the most straightforward interpretation is that *Yahweh arranged this sacrifice to himself* In 11:34, the author indicates astonishment that his daughter is the first to come out. If Jephthah is an idiot, so is the author. In 11:39, *Jephthah fulfills his olah vow.* Judges 12:3 confirms that *Yahweh honored the sacrifice.* I don’t see how this is not a Yahweh-approved, even Yahweh-initiated, human sacrifice

Read Numbers chapter 31. Moses instructed the Israelite soldiers to kill all the males including baby boys and to kill all the females that were not virgin. This would require the forcible examination of the females to see if their hymens were intact. 32,000 virgins were preserved alive. Moses said to take a heave offering to Jehovah from the spoils of war. Livestock and humans. A heave offering is a percentage heaved or taken off the whole. A percentage of livestock was heaved and 32 virgins were heaved out of 32,000 virgins and given to eliezer the high priest in charge of sacrifices. The high priest was no cattlemen and spoils of war "given to him" was given to be sacrificed. Some may argue this but the text is clear and we must keep in mind that the Israelites soldiers had just killed hundreds of thousands of people including little babies and women and girls that were not virgin. What is a mere 32 virgins to be sacrificed compared with all that other carnage?

Actually, God _didn't_ demand that human sacrifice! Jephthah made that oath, and got law-of-surprised. It's a plot point made by the Deuteronomistic Historians, that even the Judges get so corrupt, that they forget that Jahwe is _not_ like the Canaanite gods. I mean: Hellooooo?! Ban on human sacrifices in the laws of Moses?!

Yes Jehovah loves human and animal blood sacrifices. He expects them for the atonement of sins that he himself invented. Exodus 13:2 "Dedicate to me every firstborn among the Israelites. The first offspring to be born, of both humans and animals, belongs to me.” Exodus 13:12,13 "you must present all firstborn sons and firstborn male animals to the LORD, for they belong to him. 13 A firstborn donkey may be bought back from the LORD by presenting a lamb or young goat in its place. But if you do not buy it back, you must break its neck. However, you must buy back every firstborn son." Jesus became Jehovah/Satan's ultimate human blood sacrifice when he was cruicified on the cross. He was the firstborn from the true God of divine LOVE (his heavenly MOTHER, or Woman mentioned in Revelation 12:1-5) and he was also a true Israelite or Jew. He fitted the criteria perfectly as Jehovah exploited his death claiming Jesus as not only his dear son, but that his purpose was to die for humanities sins, sins that he himself concocted when he planted that forbidden tree in the garden of Eden. What God of love would allow their son to die an excruciating death by crucifixion and then claiming he was a willing sacrifice? By no means was Jesus a willing sacrifice, nor did he die for our sins, this is another lie from the God of deception.... Satan the devil also known as Jehovah.

All atheists, agnostics, and fanatics of all religions are wounded, hurt and offended by a very simple book, the Bible, which means all atheists, agnostics and fanatics of all religions rejected and hated the Creator and His Christ's TRUTHS, authorities, teachings, and commandments.

The prophet Samuel was also given to Jehovah after weaned. Not a burnt sacrifice. The pagan nations Israel defeated and destroyed one of their customs were child sacrifice. Something that was never in Jehovah’s heart.

Summerwind, Yes, Lloyd went from being a JW to becoming an atheist. Well, he considered himself as being a doubting ex-JW Christian for a while after leaving the JWs, then he started calling himself an agnostic before he declared himself to be an atheist. Yes, he considers the Bible to be a manmade book -- but I do, too. So, he's not alone in holding to that position.
