I think in Spain they use ser when describing something is clear, as in, 'es claro' (Todo es muy claro, by Fito y Fitipadis). Estar claro is Parochial, they use it in Seville.

Hi Paul, please can you explain when to use 'quise', I thought that it meant 'I wanted'. But now you teach 'quería' means the same. Please help!

Quise is wanted in preterito, queria is imperfect.

Examples imperfect is the describing a story tense/ more general without specific time period. So if you wanted to say, i always wanted to go to ibiza when i was young. Siempre yo queria ir a ibiza cuando era joven. Whereas if you wanted to go yesterday but didnt then that is telling us of a single action/ completed, ayer quise ir a ibiza

Remember this lesson is not about the use of the verb querer in a way, its about saying the phrase " i, he, she meant.
