The concept of "Sexual Orientation" has penetrated so deeply into our culture that most of us (probably) don't even think to question where it came from; but, the way it has shifted our perception of gender and sexuality cannot be over stated.

I got "disordered" at a young age and left the church for 25 years to prove they were wrong. God had other plans and took me out of that lifestyle, so now I identity as a Child of God and my orientation is toward Christ. I can live in purity and live a chaste celibate life for God. Thank you for this clear video as I help others wanting to also be reordered.

Good job with this one. We need to speak plainly about this issue and get back to true definitions.

The definition of 'sex' itself definitely needs to be properly recollected and presented charitably to those who aren't aware. Pardon the directness of the language to follow, but I grew up being taught that "sex" had multiple subcategories, including (for example) 'oral sex'. But only as an adult and Catholic did I gradually come to realize that applying the word "sex" to anything except the coming together of the two halves of the human reproductive system (the two halves joining to form one reproductive organism, one flesh) is just misuse of language. I had to unlearn the abuses of language I'd been taught, to realize that just because one person's genitalia might be stimulated by an action (involving an inanimate object, or any other human body part except the complementary half of a human reproductive system), that's not the same thing as "sex." (Now, the question of whether given acts of stimulation are permitted within marriage provided an act concludes with sex, is a separate question. But linguistically, it sets a trap to conflate all acts of stimulation with the act of sex.) I wonder if there were two converging trends that contributed to this abuse of language: the first, a deliberate attempt by activists to suggest that there are multiple 'versions' of sex, none better or worse than another, with the deliberate purpose of pushing for contraceptive mentality that divorces our sex drive from its natural fruits (and related ideological outcomes activists may have wanted to follow from the contraceptive mentality). The second, a sort of accidental but well-meaning habit of grouping a variety of acts under this category word, by religious catechists, to generally say, "Yes, unmarried people and children, don't do any of these things." Like, to sort of get around young adults who might have said, "Well, this isn't _sex_ so we can do this act even before marriage, right?" Whereas nuance should have been introduced to say, outside of marriage it's not just sex we avoid, but also ___, and here's why." But by ceding the linguistic territory and allowing the false idea that 'sex' has multiple meanings to spread, we genuinely now have generations of people to whom it has never occurred that 'sex' is actually only one thing, and a thing with inherent meaning and purpose (and that meaning and purpose not just being 'something that feels good, relating to this part of at least one person's body'). A few years ago I first heard someone refer to self abuse as "solo sex", and realized just how bad the abuse of language has gotten. We really need that recollection, that clear teaching, of what "sex" is. So, so many people don't know. And as Jesus, our loving Lord taught us, the truth sets us free. God, please set us free from the traps set by deceitful language. Please nourish our minds with the truth, and clear sight to see it.

"The body is meaningless to ... attraction" is in fact the very opposite of the meaning of sexual orientation. The concept is dependent on the reality of biological sex.

Fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls) Sexual integration is essential for all people, whether they are called to marriage, priesthood or religious life. “The successful integration of sexuality within the person and thus the inner unity of man in his bodily and spiritual being” (CCC #2337). Chastity is the virtue that moderates the desire for sexual pleasure according to the principles of faith and right reason. Priests, sisters, married persons, and single persons are all called by God to chastity, to use their sexuality according to God’s plan in their specific state in life. Married persons live chastely by using the gift of sexuality exclusively with one another, according to the teachings of Christ. Priests live chastely by not having sexual activity with anyone, but loving people the way Jesus loves. Sexual integration for a man called to priesthood is a slowly developing grace over the course of a man’s life that only God can give. But it is also a grace that a man has gained through prayer and sacrifice, and this grace enables him to live celibacy in tranquility of mind. The biggest indication that a man has not yet fully attained sexual integration is lust: A virtuous life should spring naturally from a life of prayer and intimacy with Jesus. A man should be conscious of his sins and bothered by them. He should be trying very hard to live out the supernatural virtues infused at his Baptism: faith, hope, and charity; and to develop the intellectual virtues of prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude.
