Visarys was a good and kind hearted man he wasnt bad he tried his best. He simply wasnt the man for the job thats the sad part is there have been plenty of rotten kings but visarys suffers the most in the show despite being one of the best people in the show

very late stage gangrene (necrosis) from leprosy (poor bastard had it all the way down to the bone!) but the Targaryens have the will, strength & stoic blood of the dragon, any regular person would've died long before Vicerys did. Those boils, sores & open wounds to the bone probably stunk to high heavens, so lucky for him, his nose damn near fell off his face. Because of this I don't necessarily think of him as a weak King, he was a beast in my eyes. He suffered so long & so very hard, so RiP to him. He will be missed. From the accounts in the books it sounded like Viserys had Type 2 diabetes. Which makes it difficult to fight off infections/heal wounds & weakens the heart. It can wreak havoc on many vital organs if left untreated/unmanaged & can lead to an early death.

It kind of feels like he may have been Diabetic and he had many MRSA infections that never fully healed. I haven't read the books for this series, so I am sure it is something else than what was written. In the show it is not Allicent imprisoning people, it is her father Otto....

All you needed to do is to watch the behind the episodes after and you would understand. The writer and director said it’s a form of leprosy.

He probably suffered from diabetes type 2. Like you said, he likes feasts, and he probably didn't have a diet and ate his entire life lots of sugar. One of the signs of diabetes untreated is wounds that won't heal. That's why, in modern medicine, we need to keep checking for wounds in diabetic people, and there is a thing called "diabetic foot", you can look it up on google if you want (kinda gross). Everytime Viserys got open wounds (like that small cut in his finger), the wound can't heal and starts to become necrotic. That's why it's important to amputate, cause necrocy can spread and cause more and more tissue to die and fall (that's why the meister amputated his finger, was becoming necrotic and spreading). Also, diabetes can cause blindness. Maybe that's why, in the end, he lost his eye. Diabetes can really be degenerating when untreated, and will rot you little by little. Like with Viserys. Also, about leprosy. Yes, it was a possibilty in the begining, but leprosy is highly contagious, and he was already having symptoms when he had intercourse with Alicent, and she didn't catch any disease. So, leprosy is out of the table.

So if Viserys didn't have the blood of the dragon, why does he look so much like a Targaryen and ALL of his children, even dark-haired, dark-eyed Alicent's, inherited his white hair & light eyes? Meanwhile, his daughter with the obviously Targaryen Aemma, has white hair & pale blue eyes but ends up with dark-haired, dark-eyed children (darker than Harwin's & more like Criston's!), so SHE should be rotting away along with all her children from the 'dragon-blooded' Daemon. If you're trying to say that he didn't have enough 'dragon' blood, show us the family tree & where it was lacking. Maybe his parents weren't incestuous or polygamous enough? This explanation makes no sense & contradicts what the writers, including the books' author, are on record as having said. The reason he was rotting was because the iron throne itself, made out of the melted bloody swords of burned-up warriors, was killing him, a sign that it was rejecting him as ruler. He wasn't cruel or perverted enough to sit on it without being injured, & the haunted throne cut him more than once. It was stated somewhere that the throne was designed so that you can't let yourself get comfortable on it. Viserys was too peaceful.

Why doesn't aliscent a regular human catch the leprosy. He's literally all over her body making kids with her...

If I'd been Viserys, I'd have had one of the dragon's breath their fire on that throne to melt it down just a little bit. Just enough to soften the hard edges. That way, no more cuts.

I think Viserys got poisoned by Hightower family first by his Alicent Father and by Alicent her self after sh discovered the true from Loryc Whome controll the rats he also involved into the cospicency againsy Targaryan Family. This is why Alicent father nver wanted Deamn as King. He is alwey behind that involing his daughter Alicent till the end and she didn't even want to redim her self.

A theory made long before the show is that the maesters were purposefully poisoning him under the command of house hightower, since the hightowers and the maesters are VERY connected with each other since the hightower and citadel are right next to each other and both have worked with each other for centuries. The theory also is a bonus to the maester conspiracy of wanting to rid the world of dragons which has evidence of being true in the books as several characters strongly imply that it was house hightower and the citadel who influenced the starks, baratheons, tullys and arryns to form the coalition against the Targaryens during the mad kings rule and that influence of course helped lead into roberts rebellion which saw house Targaryen, essentially annihilated. On top of that, the maesters and hightowers are also heavily connected to the faith of the seven and whaddya know, the faith revolt against the Targaryens with a suspiciously well armed army and kill some dragons in the dragonpit during the dance of dragons. House Hightower is also one of the oldest houses in westeros, originating from the first men snd are heavily connected to the old magic of westeros and even use glass candles to spy. They are also the richest family in westeros and have the largest army. There’s definitely a bigger plot by the Hightowers than just simply wanting to have one of their own on the throne, they might want to bring about the end of the Targaryen dynasty all together. It might not be true in the show but in the books the evidence for these theories is astounding.
