Dude, this is the best explanation of how the wounds in the matrix affect them in the real world. I mean, it’s so obvious I should have thought of it lol. I mean especially the part about the mechanical components being programmed to cause the damage indicated in the experience in The Matrix. It makes SO much sense. Thanks for this vid.

I've seen a few other comics where they delved into this concept. Not sure if it was one of the older Hellraiser or Clive Barker comics, but they had been doing tests on a volunteer under deep hypnosis, and 'convinced' him he was flying a plane that was crashing. After enough times, the experiment ended up with the subject experiencing burns, and eventually full-blown combustion. It's an interesting idea, where the body becomes a plaything of the mind.

I dont think the placebo or Nocebo effect makes sense as whatever the injury inside the matrix, its always made the red pills bleed from the mouth. However, the final explanation of the mechanical part causing damage in real life based on what happened in the simulation makes complete sense.

6:19 The original story was supposed to be the humans were grown for the purpose of becoming wetware (organic hardware for memory and processing) but the folks at Hollywood thought they it would be hard to explain so they chose a reason that was more obscure that made no sense especially if you knew a thing or two about thermodynamics.

In the eyes of the Matrix, it’s fairly easy to explain why you bleed when you are physically hurt within it. If you are injured in the Matrix, your real-world body also bleeds. You need to remember that every red pill was designed with two potential purposes: to be a battery and to be a cybernetic computer. This fact, drawn from the lore, wasn’t included in the movie. For the machines to turn a human into a battery, there must be a symbiotic relationship between human tissue and technology. This relationship is essential to keep the human alive in the pod and to absorb energy from the bio-battery, known as the Coppertop. Thus, there are likely wires, metal, and scaffolding integrated throughout the human body to collect bioenergy and maintain the body. When we experience physical or mental harm, our bodies create biofeedback for our brains to recognize the sensation, whether good or bad. This symptomatic relay system, combined with an energy-collection wired system within the human body, means the mind itself goes in reverse in the Matrix. Instead of the body feeling something and sending the signal to the mind, the mind senses something and sends it to the body. This is how the batteries would work in the Matrix, especially for those who have been unplugged. Normally, dreaming prevents us from acting out our dreams, which is why some wires likely exist to inhibit these movements. However, once plugged into the Matrix, these inhibitory mechanisms are not available. So, when the mind senses you’re being punched or shot, it sends a feedback loop back to the body. This feedback can cause the muscles to twitch so rapidly that the bio-neural implants, scaffolding, and wiring within the human body cannot handle the stress. This stress leads to tears and rips in the tissue, veins, and organs. You might not get a broken bone, but you would definitely get a bruise. If the scaffolding and wiring that are practically soldered to your veins and organs are torn away due to the electrical feedback loop, it causes significant internal damage. This damage is exacerbated because, as a red pill, you lack the protective systems that were once in place. The tearing of electrical implants can cause internal bleeding, especially since many are connected through the stomach and lungs. This connection, once necessary for nutrient delivery via a tube in the pod, now leads to bleeding when these components are violently torn away. Thus, when you are hurt in the Matrix, the overstressed internal electrical components are ripped away from the body, causing massive internal bleeding, which can be fatal. This explains the physical damage you can endure in the Matrix. If you are unplugged, tearing away from an active system also causes significant damage.

1 Why always only bring up 2 options ? There could be a third option. 2 Third option of mixing both answer for example : mind over body and mechanical implant from the machine world. 3 Both effects could synergize ( Mouse ) or not ( Neo). 4 With other words, a red pill could learn how to influence this neuro-implant function ( Morpheus teaching Neo or the boy with the spoon ), as a yogi for example can learn how to influence his biological automatic neuro vegetative system ( for example : breathing, heartbeat, more of less sensitivity, etc ) 5 This could lead to the red pilled developing new practices to strengthen their influence over their neuro implant... and therefore becoming stronger or developing new abilities within the Matrix ( like the kids Neo saw ).

It would be hard to fit that much hardware in a skull which already has a brain in it. The interface spike looks like it might go through the brainstem, which regulates breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital functions, including REM sleep. If the implants actually replace those brain regions, then anything that causes them to shut down would cause instant death. Given that the red pills have rapid eye movement while getting uploads, it makes sense that their brainstem has been replaced by hardware. One of the functions of the pons, part of the brainstem, is to create paralysis during REM sleep. When connected to the simulation, the implants may cause a similar paralysis. If they have a limited capacity to do so, they might be overridden by the intensity of simulated injury. If a resulting muscle spasm is severe enough, it could damage blood vessels, causing bleeding.

I’ve tried looking at this from a computer science perspective... we can safely assume that the neural stimulation from RSI and physical body are tied when a user is jacked into the Matrix, so the user’s conscience is also connected. I have come to an incomplete conclusion: the user’s mind is something like a storage disk when it’s in the real world and in the matrix. When the user is damaged, the disk writes the damage to both the RSI and the real body. When a person is killed in the Matrix, the write function does just that: it writes to the both the RSI and the body that they have suffered mortal injuries and they die as a result. As for getting jacked out before severing the conscience from the body... this one is a little trickier. When the mind stops receiving any neural stimulus, you can safely say that a person is dead (for the most part). I think something similar can be said about someone jacked out of the Matrix before their conscience has been transferred back to the original storage device. The write function has nothing to write to anymore, resulting in a catastrophic failure. Because the write function has failed, the brain no longer receives neural stimulus, and the user dies. Think of it as like removing a cartridge from an N64 console in the middle of a game, only in this case, when the cartridge is removed, both the cartridge and the console die. Thoughts anyone?

I think the mechanical feedback theory is more believable. It would save the time and trouble in disposing of any simulated fatalities without the person waking up in the real world and freaking out. The body can most definitely live without the mind, just ask anyone in a persistent vegetative state, or rather, don't.

Been meaning to bring this up because for some reason ,It all goes back to the Animatrix in the scene of where all the humans are getting poked and prodded and even sliced up in half or in part , remember the machines mastered human life and death to the point of being able to keep any body alive while the machines poked and learned everything they could about the human bodies it's limitations and wonders, while the humans cried or laughed or felt pleasure even when they're were already chopped up . Curious thought here on the what if .. that the machines are still studying the humans and Transhumans on life and death and even record it ,technically their residual self image the digital code is still in the matrix, just no anchored mind and real body .

I think mechanical components that hurt you to death should have destroyed Thomas Andersson. Trinity would not have been able to wake him up. I suppose that if the signals in your head simulate multiple sudden gunshots, the pain alone could kill you. They could just amp up the pain if something happend that we belive to be deadly. It could "help" the nacebo without neading extra parts. This would also make mind over matter a more important thing then in our world, and that seems to check out.

It's all psychosomatics. If you die in such advanced form of VR like Matrix, it is conceivable that your real body would produce so much adrenaline and cortisol (the stress hormone) that it would literally overload your heart and make it pop inside your body like a blood-filled balloon. As for Neo bleeding from the mo7th after the jump thing, it is conceivable that he biten his real mouth as he hit the ground.

The reason for blood might well be that their bodies simply tense up so strongly that they might rip open smaller blood vessels. Yes, they bleed.. but have you ever ruptured a blood vessel in your nose? Stupid question, because who hasn't? That's a whole lot of blood for something so completely painless. Can even happen just from straining a whole lot and building blood pressure. Looks to me like it is a body very much tensing up to me and since it is rather involuntary (or at least not willfully) it might be akin to having a sort of electroshock through the body where everything just tenses up and tiny blood vessels get fractured. Or they might simply bite their own tongues, cheeks or lips. It is a program. Software can be hacked. Feedback can be denied. They could probably make a whole lot of impervious supersoldiers inside the Matrix if they just found a way to prevent deadly feedback or even code out the pain response altogether. What I find even more confusing is the whole need for conciousness transfer FROM the body TO the Matrix and vice versa. It's not even transported as the body is still receptive of impulse.. so they are connected the entire time. Instead of sitting at the keyboard and mouse.. they ARE the keyboard and mouse. That they can die inside the Matrix is not confusing, but that it wouldn't just snap them back to reality is. The only thing I can think realistically would kill them is if there are machines connected to main blood vessels that respond to information from the Matrix and apply tiny buzz saws to shred them apart. This would make it odd that they haven't just figured out how to shut them down, however. Or filter out information that reaches the brain that would start said process. Filter out that and they could just die and "respawn" over and over again. The Matrix is a fantastic movie with more plot holes than what would should be allowed. I'm certain they knew this and went with it anyway... and they did make a really great franchise - even if people will say that the second and third are "bad". I find them perfectly fine movies with lots of opportunities to be had for deeper exploration. However.. the "death" aspect (or needing to connect to a phone to get out) was certainly just added for having a sake of urgency.

I like your analysis. The red pills do seem to experience physical tension will under duress inside the simulation. So how about the fluids that the real human body's are sleeping in? Maybe they contain nanobots.. which could also explain how the Agents (computer programs) are able to take over human body's inside the Matrix and even make your own conclusion about the Red Pills physical. Let's compare the Matrix to the Netflix series Revolution here.. in Revolution there are Nano Parts in the air that block any use of technology.. maybe the Red Pills have somewhat the same effect on "nanobots" inside a human body..

Sooooo can we address what happened to the regular old human that Neo body snatched in Matrix 1 now? This is going to bug me forever until there’s a video on it lol. There’s a regular Joe Schmo who was living his best life and then got double body snatched, first by Agent Smith and then by Neo. What happened to that guy after Neo properly unjacked at the end of Matrix 1? Was Neo’s Soul or RSI ( **to any extent** ) still tethered to that pod body and resultantly ‘the source’ in any way after? And if so, can we tie it in to any theories on Neo’s ability to “feel” sentinels in Matrix 2? Or was that person just flushed despite neo walking around in his bullet hole-less shell?

When you eat capsaicin (hot peppers). You can get blisters and swelling yet nothing "burned" you. Not a stretch that technology can activate nerve receptors which it all capsaicin does. Stimulates the same nerve endings responsible for detecting heat. No logical reason for someone to think you couldn't hurt in the real world yet not be hurt. What do you think a hypochondriac is? Someone so worried about being sick or hurt that in their own mind some feel real pain and debilitate their selves. That's two logical explanations.

It may be possble for a nocibo effect to cause some bleeding. I'm not sure about that. But for massive bleeding I think you would need mechanical components,. But for actual death, you really don't need it. There are cases in real life where people died just from the nocebo effect. From the simplest example of people diying from shock, seeing huge truck hitting them against the wall, and even if the actual physical damage wasn't enough for them to die, just their belief that they would not survive such a blast would shut down the nervous system and stop brain activity and the heart pumping blood and oxigen. Sometimes even getting shot or stabbed in harmless area of the body gives people heart attack You have an example of Hitler punishing his 3 officers by closing them in a chamber and letting water dripping from the cealing and telling them it''s a poison, which made them die of a heart attack a few minutes or hours later.

Station until the link was made by Trinity Morpheus & Seraph to bring Neo back. Also take smith when Neo destryed him in The Matrix in Reloaded Smith said He knew what he should do as in return to the source but he didn't he disobeyed he was compelled to stay & be renewed made free for a purpose. Returning to THE SOURCE is not dead being in limbo ON Mobil ave is not dead being in the matrix is not dead or bein in the real world is not dead in fact it seems to that death is TRANSFORMATION of life from one Place or form of existence to another.

you cant "die" becouse there is no such thing...surely your body where "you" live now has limits and will disappear in pain and agony (you cant turn it of... you feel the pain but if you take it without fear you can live with it as a friend :) if we call that "death" it means when you die you reach the "end of the road" it cant be true, becouse you were born too...and that means borning should be the begining...but it cant be true becouse before you were born there was life too...so it just wasnt the time for the consciousness which wanted to be in your body...to be born to this "place"... and that means mind always over matter even if you have mechanical bs in you which can kill your body not your mind... in extreme level of philosophy: if it is possible and i dont see the barrier of it...to reach a level of consciousness in material world where you just simple realize that you cant die becouse you dont want to no matter what the circumstances are... well the mechanical parts cant kill your body neither becouse that means they are part of your body and your body is controlled by your own mind so you can realize that but it also means you are immortal...so maybe i overthink that a bit :)
