..What if Self Injury was a Real Person...

The title says it all. Make a videoresponse (?)
Might be triggering(?) (This video contains no images of scars/wounds or any graphic descriptions of self harm) Also for people who have been abused (?)
If Self Injury was a Real Person why would 'he' be like THIS for me?
Well for example:
- He is a man because hurting myself reminds me of someone (who shall remain nameless).
- The striped shirt represents order and taking control (again) for me.
- The belt represents things that can be used for multiple situations.
- The tie represents intelligence and NO emotions or feelings allowed.
- Working at a bank is about money. And being able to stand on your own two feet in life.
I made this video for Self Injury Awareness Day 2011.

On Self Injury Awareness Day 2011 I will go to Amsterdam again. But this year I won't be alone. I'll be joining a Self Harm Support Foundation here in the Netherlands. We'll create a flashmob together in Amsterdam. I think it's great that this foundation takes action and makes it happen! If you want to join me and this foundation please let me know by sending me a PM!

Mine is an angel. Blood red wings tipped with black. Eyes the colour of the night sky just around sun set. Black hair that shimmers in the light. But hes got his back turned he abandoned me after I pushed him away one to many times and now even though he's still there tempting me he doesn't help even on the odd occasions I give in to make him happy. I've been sh free for about 2 years apart from one or two slip ups. This video gave me goosebumps Take care xx

alone with him because at the least he promises to never leave. At least i have control over that. But I can't be sad or angry about the outcome each time when he doesn't comfort me. Ive grown up with him and he's a fact of life. He's teaching me that there is no room for emotions except the ones he allows if I am to handle life with him. He's turning me into himself.

Deep and moving, I think you are right about the 'person' being in the shadows, not seeing their face. Going on to describe them physically is difficult because I suppose it is still an aspect of yourself. Made me think, thanks! xx

Wow...nice perspective....I've never succumbed to self-harm myself, but you have a nice channel here to help people recover from self-harm, which is an amazing thing to do. So keep up the awesome job. -José

It is a strong and physically well built person, beautiful to behold. A person with a lot of power and charisma. He is narcissistic and cruel, but so likeable because when he gives, he gives in great abundance, in splendorous ways that blow you away. He's impecabbly dressed, a slick and smooth person. His voice sends shivers down my spine. He's nameless. And he always appears suddenly, when he chooses to. When he does appear and when he gives, nothing else matters and everything seems futile.

They always show up uninvited. They bring me flowers; blue tulips. They always try to talk to me when I'm upset, but I tend to ignore them. When they finally get to me, they give me a hug, and a kiss on the cheek. They tell me "everything's going to be okay" but I know it all just got worse. They haven't talked to me in a while. I hope it stays that way.

mine is a frail old man shriveled into an arm-chair, he cannot walk, speak or eat, nor can he remember his name, or many other traumatic things about his life, he's got the same glint in his eye that I have but he is not me, he does not care if his life has been a success or if he has had a hell of a life. With his eyes he says, "just don't do it, nothing is worth anything"

My self injury is so obscure. It is always just a silhouette of myself. It is not angry, not sad... no, it has no emotion. it doesn't discriminate, it is not picky... She is my constant companion. She is both the problem and the solution, she breaks me down with crushing blows and picks me back up with the gentle nip of steel. My self injury's name is blossom.

My self-injury is tall. Very tall. She has no face and wears dark clothes. Her voice sounds like nails scraping a blackboard. She's always there. She never leaves. She is very dominant and manipulative. I don't think she has emotions and even if she has them, she would never share them with me. She makes me feel free, alive and helps me deal with everything but at the same time she makes me feel depressed, unhappy, ashamed and she makes me hate myself. Her name is Lola.

HOLY CRAP THAT WAS INTENSE! this is as close I have thought about it. "Void" I try to keep him quite. His voice intoxicates my mind. Manipulating my thoughts, Controlling my body, I can't stop him. I've never tried this but here it goes- Mine doesn't really have a name- in the way that a caregiver doesn't really have a name. It's like mommy or daddy- you don't really realize they have names besides the ones you have for them. The fact that there is no name for it though makes it even less easy to grasp as I grow older. It's a cold-hearted, elusive caregiver. It may be male and it wears a white lab coat and a stone cold expression. It is pristine and completely unquestionable. He's a doct

@meggs544 No of course not Megg :) It's a combination of the stuff in the description box and an imaginary friend i used to have. The things i describe are related to things from the past and certain associations i have with objects etc. But then maybe the other way around? Great question! Thank you for posting it.

Mine is Whisper she's beautiful long straight black hair brown/black eyes always a dead look in them with with other people, hateful and menicing when looking at me 5'8 and at time is also a child around 8-9 dresses in all black with silver chains on her clothes is a slave to manipulation in all forms to others and is cruel and controling with me .Her adult form is always whispering to me about what I deserve and pulls me into horrid things while the child form blames me for all the self-abuse

Oh mein Gott you just descibed my dad that über creepy! But If I could describe it, I would have to almost memorize your video. The only differences would be I know his face every contour, scar, and sharpness, his voice gruff and berating, his love none existant but replaced with anger, bitter anger, and every move is a mistake and must be punished for them. Thats about it tho I'm too scared and crippled at the moment to make a good video, maybe in a week. Well anyway be safe!

It's a she. She's realy thin and more like a shadow than like a real person.. She's not "bad" or threatening, more like someone who helps me, who I can rely on and who comforts me when there's no other safe place. And she never judges me, doesn't care about what I do, but in a good way.

It's like a child, there to fill you with hope about the world, things that could be, and then to wonder 'why are you not there yet'. Why has it taken so long? Too long! Pondering that it wouldn't be so stupid as to make the same mistakes, it wouldn't find such simple things in life so stupidly hard to do. You're doing it wrong, you don't have a reason, you shouldn't want this.. until the child sees the glint on the blade, and the bloodied tissues... retreating until it can forget what it caused

Oops- is there a word limit? Sorry! He's a doctor that I let cut me up until im half way senseless and then he patches me up himself. And as much as i fear him, is as much as I need him to comfort me because I have no one else to and i dont know how to comfort myself. And he tells me that he will comfort me once ive given him all he wants- But his wants never end and somewhere inside i know that, but i keep hoping that one day... she is a complete dominatix, i think she has steel in her veins, her stare is so cool and calulated, i burn like drops of water on a desert floor under her gaze. she is a daughter of destruction and ....well i'd rather not talk about her anymore.

My self injury licks and bites her lips. To her, everything is to be eaten, even the pulsing and alive. Her lips are scaly from too many winters spent nipping at the cold air, knocking to come in. She has hungry starling eyes. She grins like a cheshire cat. Often she darts about the room, just out of sight, cackling and clicking her long forked tongue. She tortures me, then strokes me. Drives me mad with words, then calms me with her breath. Her breath that smells like honey and old meat. Lyla.
