Except not entirely. Just as the Death Eaters lose faith in Voldemort when Harry rises from the dead and "kills" him, the entire wizarding community would lose faith in The Boy Who Lived when Voldemort once again returns, and both sides would be shaken and begin to believe that neither Harry nor Voldemort can ever die. Or, possibly one or two of the more enterprising members of either side could deduce that neither Harry nor Voldemort can kill *each other* and then the hunt would be on for a third party to assassinate one or the other. I have to think Harry would be considerably more vulnerable to an independent hit squad.

Harry not knowing how to use the mirrors is what is most painful for me about the series. It just hurts that he had the answer to talking to Sirius all that time. And why did Sirius just not tell him when he spoke to him and lupin through the mirror. It just kills me

He would have died. Harry is only the chosen one because of Lily's sacrifice. Neville's mom wouldn't have the same offer to step away and live

@@hadesoneiroi I think it would sort of be like "what if Snape loved Alice Longbottom", but "what if Neville was the chosen one" is a better title. I had this same idea on the Draco kills Dumbledore video but it would be interesting to see if Lily and James get tortured instead, if they become the Golden Quad (terrible name I know), and how would Neville's lack of confidence impact the story.

On how Dumbledore opened the snitch: I think what we have to remember is that at this point, Dumbledore was the master of the elder wand. This wand is capable of feats no other wand can do, like repairing Harry's broken wand with a simple reparo. I think Dumbledore could've opened the snitch with a simple alohomora.

I would also argue that Dumbledore was probably the one who put that enchantment on the Snitch in the first place. Which, if that were the case, he would know how to circumvent it and open the Snitch. And it makes sense. Harry is made Gryffindor Seeker so Dumbledore knows Harry is going to catch that Snitch. So, at some point during Harry's First Year, prior to the first Quidditch Match of the season, Dumbledore sneaks down to the Quidditch Pitch and enchants the Golden Snitch, enacting the first move of Operation: Deathly Hallows.

I don’t think dumbledore made the enchantment though because in that case hermione and Harry would never think to have Harry touch it with his tongue to open it because it’s such a weird thing to think of immediately. They only do so because hermione finds in a book that snitches have flesh memory. If dumbledore had placed the enchantment then it wouldn’t be in that book for them to find

Maybe Dumbledore didnt even have to open the snitch to get the stone into it. He is very good after all in getting important things into other things by magic, just think of the Sorcerers stone and the mirror in part one.

Putting the resurrection stone in the snitch feels like the sole reason that snitches have flesh memory in the first place. It was never mentioned that you can't touch a snitch (which Harry should know because he's a seeker) until it becomes a great hiding place.

One flaw in your idea is when you get to the 7 Potters plan is Sirius wouldn’t replace Hagrid he would replace Mundungus. While Sirius would want to keep Harry safe he trusts Moody’s plan. And as he is riding with Moody the 2 of them together keep Voldemort busy. Voldemort aims a killing curse at Harry Sirius but Moody in an attempt to block it spins their broom into a nose dive. Voldemort believing he got the right broom goes to investigate the wreck. Harry (Sirius) is alive’ but injured Voldemort takes aim and Sirius disapetates with Mad-Eyes body. Everything else plays out the same except Bill is the one who gets hit with a one of Snape’s spells.

I like to think that if Sirius survived up to the Battle of Hogwarts that he would sacrifice himself and save Remus and Tonks. It would be a great way to end his story. His greatest regret was that he didn’t save James and Lily and left Harry an orphan, so he dies letting Moony and Tonks live with Teddy.

@@kortex5130 Sure, because film adaptations are 100% faithful to the books... Oh wait, they're not. So, I guess they are Rowling-approved corny fanfic then? What makes most fanfics bad is just poor writing skills of their authors, their desire to self-insert, desire to see some specific fan-service event and lack of proper understanding of origina material. Fanfics in themselves aren't always bad or even corny.

I didn’t cry when sirius died because i already had watched the movies but when i read about the mirror and how it could’ve saved his life i started bawling. It broke my heart to know that if harry had trusted him he wouldn’t have died

What if The Flying Ford Anglia somehow sensed Harry in Privet Drive and transported him to the Burrow after the Aunt Marge incident? What if the flying car had participated in The Battle Of Hogwarts? What if Percy hadn't interrupted when Ginny was about to tell Harry the truth about the diary, Basilisk, and the Heir Of Slytherin, Tom Riddle?

Suddenly, the forbidden forest is filled with the sound of a revving car engine, and a Ford Anglia, *the* Flying Ford Anglia, breaks out of the trees, and smashing through the row of death eaters, it knocks Voldemort over, and continuously backs up and crushes its body.

@@GubbiGap maybe it could be that she casts the most powerful shield charm in history to protect everyone in the great hall and that's what causes the moment of quiet where Harry steps forward to fight Voldemort? Symbolic of a mother's protective love of course, but also ties into the theme of keeping your soul intact... Although I've always wondered, do you think the Battle of Hogwarts caused everyone's soup to split? Or is only murder as opposed to self defense/freedom fighting that does that?

@@emilykeepsmiling9465 I assume you mean soul and not soup but I shall respond to both xD 1) Their soup wouldn't split 'cause it's soup but had there been soup in the great hall I'm gonna assume the bowls would split and the death eaters would be sliding around trying to fight on the slippery floors :P 2) I don't think their souls would be split because if that was the case wouldn't Harry's soul also be split after having fought Voldemort at the end? I thought the whole point was that Harry's soul remained intact because he used defensive magic although to me it was always more of an intent than anything else. The idea of defending yourself or others wouldn't split your soul but being the aggressor would. I guess you could also argue that the use of specifically Avada Kadavra would always split your soul but I also don't think anyone on the good side used it.

Mundungus would ABSOLUTELY be replaced by Serius before Hagrid. A loyal/willing Hagrid (even magicless) is 1,000% more valuable than Dung and I’m pretty confident everybody in the Order would agree. Other than this, killer video as always!! The Harry Potter what-if’s are the best thing on KZfaq in months.

There are 3 things I would really like them to go into: 1. If disarming someone makes you the new owner of the wand, how do you explain the training they did in Dumbledore’s Army? 2. Why can some spells be cast just by saying the incantation but some require more intention and thought? 3. Why does dark magic destroy horcruxes instead of good magic?

I think the intention behind the disarming is the thing. They weren't really intending to remove the wands from their owners, just to make it fly out of their hands. Where as in a true duel, you'd want to remove that wizard source of attack/ danger

@@crawdaddy2004 they planned his death, but I don't know if they planned his disarmament. It didn't seem like Dumbledore was stressed when Draco took the wand, since he still had Snape finish the job. It's the only reason I can think that taking Draco's wand by force, not disarming him would transfer ownership. Harry's intention was to take away Draco's source of danger, and it's the wizard that does the magic, not the wand.

Protego can't block crucio... unforgivable curses can't be blocked (except by physical objects like Dumbledore's use of the statue). And if you ask how Snape blocked Harry's crucio at the end of HBP, well he didn't let him finish casting the spell.

The only other way to block an unforgivable curse is if you have twin wand cores (such as Voldy and Harry).

We were so close to having Sirius live. I don’t think Sirius would have died in the 7 Potters. The Death Eaters didn’t give the killing curse incase they would get Harry. They killed Moddy cause his Harry disapperated so there was no need for him. Even so, I don’t see why Sirius couldn’t fight of Bellatrix, he’s clearly capable. I just don’t think Sirius would have died here.

What else should they do with a fandom like Harry Potter? I feel so old saying this, but the last book came out 16 years ago, the main movies 11 years ago. They need to fill the time until that new series comes out.

This brings up something that always bothered me about the movies. We never see Harry get the mirror until he suddenly has it in Deathly Hallows Part 1. It would have been so easy to film Sirius giving it to him in Order, but nope. That would be like if we never saw Harry get the Cloak until he first uses it in the library.

I love your what if videos! Can you do one on what if James potter survived? Maybe Lily still has to die for the prophecy to work but what would happen if James raised harry? Would Sirius still go to Azkaban? Would they even survive the war?? Edit: Yeah James normally dies first but what if Voldy was just feeling nice at the time(yes unlikely but still)? What if he just stupefied James as he's not in the prophecy and not a threat due to being unarmed? He then still goes upstairs, tells Lily to move, kills her, half dies after attacking harry so the prophecy and mothers love protection still happens. But... James wakes up the next day..?

I think this scenario would be unlikely because James was killed before Lily. He died delaying Voldemort getting to Lily and Harry. I'd be more for a "what would happen if Dumbledore made the Dursleys keep Lupin as a live-in nanny for Harry". 1. Harry still gets his mother's protection by technically living with his aunt 2. Lupin gets a long-term career 3. Harry gets regular care from his parent's closest friend that is not in prison 4. The Dursley's ability to abuse Harry is limited by the threat of werewolf bites.

With Bellatrix Dead does that mean that Tonks and Lupin Survive the Battle of Hogwarts because if its the two of them vs Dolohov he doesnt stand a chance. also Moody and Dobby being alive adds power and resorsiveness to Harry's Side.

In the battle of 7 potters, wouldn’t Sirius just replace Mundungus to be Moody’s partner or be a misdirect for Voldemort like he was for the secret keeper of the potters?

An alternate idea I had for Deathly Hallows: Sirius replaces Mondungus (or however it’s spelled), the idea being to take advantage of the assumption that Moody would be escorting the real Harry to set a sort of trap for the Death Eaters. From here, you could have either one or both live/die, though I think it’s more likely that they either die together, having taken out some powerful but non plot relevant Death Eaters, or they both live, having fought them off until Harry used Expelliarmus and alerted the Death Eaters to which Harry was the real one.

I would like to say that Sirius probably wouldn't insist on taking harry in the battle, or, he would, but they would convince him otherwise. This is the guy who suggested Peter as a secret keeper because it was less predictable, this is the man who handed Harry to Hagrid because Dumbledore had a home for him, even though Sirius definetly wanted to keep him with him.

I don’t think he would have replaced Hagrid either, for one thing Hagrid would never stand for not taking part either and being not-so magically capable has never stopped him before, he’d probably ride Buckbeak or something if he didn’t have the motorcycle. Sirius would replace Mundungus who never wanted to be there in the first place obviously and it’s kind of ridiculous he was ever included at all

I could make the case for Sirius being scatterbrained after 12 years in Azkaban, his "nice one James" even if just in the movie, is evidence he's not "fully there" any more. Perhaps he figured Harry knew about two way mirrors, never called Harry because he might be somewhere that could be bad to have that done, and just figured he never tried (busy or what have you,) but that's a VERY hard case to make more than the above. He knew Harry was raised by muggles and spent his summers with them, so should have known no one would have told him about the mirrors. i think they liked voldemort being busy with how to enter the ministry since it was easier to know about what he is up to. if the ministry was out of questions it would be harder to know what he was doing

Honestly, my favorite thing to think about with Sirius surviving to the 6th book is whole Tonks liking Sirius vs. her liking Remus. He probably would've helped Harry see her real crush sooner and it would've been fun to see Sirius poking fun at Remus or helping him through his conflicted feelings for her. Honestly, I could see both as a possibility.

You could have had Pettigrew check if harry was alive at the end and die to the silver hand then. Since you're altering the events at Malfoy manor anyway. Also, I think the fact that harry being master of the elder wand is still a factor in the final confrontation in the original story, so having that not in play anymore might bring about a different end. I think all would be the same but Harry would die as well, since the elder wand had no allegiance to him

10:42 This always baffled me as well. Like, Voldemort, the most powerful wizard after Dumbledore, won’t come to the Ministry himself to get a prophecy, an errand that might take like 2 minutes, and no one can recognize him if he disguises himself(as Harry so people think he took it), but he’s okay with positioning over 10 Death Eaters in the Hall of Prophecy, 10 of whom have recently broken out of Azkaban?! Like, if he gets caught, he can escape with his eyes closed and hands tied. But, if his Death Eaters get caught, he loses the most powerful of his followers. Always seemed a dumb plan to me, but I know Voldemort isn’t dumb. Thanks for explaining!

tbh i personally don’t see them doing this unfortunately. and it’s bc the difference between this and the other “what ifs” is that those are realistic; they didn’t happen, but they could’ve because they make sense logically and character-wise. this just…doesn’t at all. it kinda falls apart when you consider harry and dumbledore’s conversation after sirius’ death - when he finally tells him the truth. he literally admits that he believed eleven - harry’s age at the time - was way too young for the burdens of the prophecy. it’s an intriguing plot switch, but it would also require book dumbledore’s character to do a complete 180 in two seconds, which would never happen imo. still cool tho :)

At the part in Malfoy Manor I literally got CHILLS when you explained it! Just like when I was reading the original books but even better because Draco is one of my favourite characters (he’s very misunderstood) and he never gets a redemption arc in the books. I love this version!!

Yay. another Draco Redemption arc. He really is one of my fave character from the books. So much to can do with him. Many layers and just ripe for a brilliant redemption arc. I always felt like Draco was never meant to be fully bad or evil. He was just arrogant and a product of his surroundings and upbringing. I always feel like it would have only take one traumatic experience or one out of character moment from Draco for him to do a full 180 as a character.

Great video as always, but I have to disagree on a very important point: There is no universe where Harry tells Sirius about the Death Eaters at the Ministry and then sits at Hogwarts like a good little boy, knowing the Order is on the mission. Harry will 100% certainly still find a way to get to the Ministry. Very probable that they still try to use Umbridge's fireplace to travel by Floo Network with the DA acting as lookouts, all of them get caught by the Wicked Witch and her Inquisitorial Squad, and the rest of it plays out as it did originally. Maybe Harry even grabs the Prophesy, thinking it will help, given that he doesn't actually know what it is and only that it's the weapon Voldemort has been trying to get his hands on. Harry and Sirius still ultimately end up fighting side-by-side, and Bellatrix catches him with an Avada Kedavra. Nothing significantly changes all-in-all.

The power/loyalty of a wand can't die. The wand chooses the wizard. Just because some random character mentioned once that the elder wand went from one victor to the next, doesn't mean it always has to make that choice. The wand CHOOSES the wizard.

More than simply his concern for the power of the Elder Wand, Dumbledore would not want to die from either the cursed ring or the potion as it would give away too early that he had been hunting Horcruxes. Dying by Snape's hand covers for this, even though it was never made explicit; he never confided in Snape the real reason, giving him two plausible ones instead -- saving an old man from an agonizing death and to save Draco's soul. Those may be true, but Dumbledore put a lot of effort into hiding the fact that he had discovered Tom's secret and this act was his final attempt to preserve that for Harry and buy as much time as he could for the quest. This would still hold whether Draco was given the assassination mission or not.

I love Draco's part in this so I see why you would chose for Aberforth to not get the mirror, but why wouldn't he? He usually buys it from Mundungus who stole it from Sirius's house after he died. If Sirius is going to be with Harry during the Battle of the 7 Potters, there would be no need for him to bring it with him that night so he probably left it at home. So I think it's entirely possible that Dung still would have stolen it and Aberforth still ends up with it. The only difference is that Albus is normally the one that tells him what it is and he's already dead, but I'm sure Lupin or one of the other order members could tell him just as easily.

Hey, I love your guy content, has really rekindled my love for the Harry Potter Universe. If you are taking suggestions, one idea that would fascinate me is "What If Fudge Believed Voldemort was back after the Goblet of Fire?" Id imagine it would complete change the story onwards. Would Dumbledore have an extra year searching Horcruxes? Is there any motivation for Harry to form the DA? etc Have a great one

I think that Hagrid being the least capable member was exactly the plan. Moody deemed that Voldemort would think that Harry is the most magically powerful guardian (first Moody, then Kingsly), and never he and his Death Eaters would think that Order will entrust Harry to a Half-Giant

I have a theory idea! What if you make a series in parallel with What if harry was in sythiren... And do what if draco was the chosen one / sorted into gryffindor this could work because you could imagine narcissa and luscious getting bribed by dumbledore to spy, this is something that is actively going against voldmort during the dark days. Thus making it possible for draco to be the chosen one And if you wanted to add a little flavor Draco's parents could have been killed by voldomort and he ended up going to some relatives who are just way more open about how much they hate Muggles and their pure blood status giving Draco a culture shock and character arc when he gets the hogwarts. That was always such a big frustration because Siriuses death was so tragic. And I never understood why wizards would rather stick their heads into fire than use this “mirror face time”? (Does anyone know if they made a video on how new spells are created? It never made sense to me, like what do you have to do? And also why some spells were described as hard ones. What did it take to produce a ”hard” spell, aside of focusing, saying the words and waving the wand right?

Yup, I've always been so annoyed at the mirror and how it effects the ending of the fifth book. Why does Sirius think Molly would disagree to him giving Harry the mirror? If anything she would be happy as she also would have a way to contact the kids without Umbridge knowing. And why does Sirius phrase it as if it's an emergency beacon if it's just wizard face time? And, like you pointed out, why doesn't Sirius bring it up the first time Harry is in the fire? And, not really related to the mirror, but why doesn't Harry just step through the fire to Grimauld Place when he goes to check if Sirius is there? Then he could have searched the entire house and there would be no risk of getting caught. And if Sirius actually wasn't there, there would be a decent chance Lupin, who also lives there, or any other Order member, were there, that he could seek help from, and he would then already be in London, where the Ministry is just a few Underground stops away?
