I have watched a few of these videos, and I know this is not an earth shattering comment, but MAN prison sounds fucked up. Being deprived of your freedom, being fed dogshit, etc is bad enough. But what would really suck is how so many of the knuckleheads in there seem to be determined to make the environment as petty, drama-filled, full of conflict, and jacked up as they possibly can. I guess if they have proven themselves unable to go with the program in the free world, we have to expect them to be toxic in prison as well. Major props Big Herc, for telling it like it is and not glamorizing this shit.

I met someone during my Master degree in psychology 4 years back and I met someone who was released from jail and somehow was smart enough to enter the same university as me (Columbia University). I won't deny that he's actually a genius and he studied medical science for his course. During a project work for my mid term thesis, he became my target of interest about mentality of prison life. He told me that he was busted for theft in 2006 and was sentenced for 2 years in Rikers Island and he said everyone there has a own group sect. However, none are as fearful as the Russian Bratvas in there. He even said that in his community (He's a Colombian descendant), Latin Kings ruled the streets but in Rikers Island, no one could mess with the Russians. He even mentioned that only in Rikers Island, MS13 could rival the Russians in brutality and also prison economics as the Russians themselves had mostly already went through prison back in Russia and their build up is the same as MS13 where they're all built up in prison to go out and rule the street thus whatever they say, rules. However, getting protection from either of these two groups are hard if you're weak OR someone of a different race with them. However, he did get the Russians to be his protectorate as he helped them with their food stash that his cellmate kept (His cellmate consists of himself, 2 Russian mobsters and 1 normal civilian caught for battery. he said he was in the cell with the Russians because he was not in any gang) and somehow gained their trust. For the Latin side, he said things are different as they're constantly trying to outbeat each other even in prison while the Russians from different sects sought out their differences in there and work together unlike the Latinos who whacked anyone that isn't affiliated to them. To him, the Russians were crazy as they commit murders constantly in Rikers Island many other things against the Latinos constantly whose always against them in prison but they're more poised and organised like the Guidos (The Commission members shared the same prison complex as them all) and the guidos are more laidback and only fended for themselves unlike the Russians who works with anyone who works with them or the Latinos who attacks anyone that's not under their own flags and in this case, gang color.
