Thanks for clearing up the mystery of mechanical compound and polish. I have had numerous muscle cars over the years and was super intimidated by machine as opposed to hand buffing. With your knowledge I can now say I am ordering my first buffer, pads, compound and polish. You have given me the confidence I need to improve my 1967 GTX to showroom condition. I can’t wait to get started. Thanks again!

This is information that I am grateful to review. I'm just outside of being a noob I've used my polisher about five or six times. This is information I can add to my arsenal and I value it very much. I have gotten really great results using ultimate compound and polish duo with lake country orange and white pads. Using those leave the finish very deep and rich on my dark colors. It's very gratifying to see the paint come alive! Thanks Scott for your contribution!

Great as always, thank you. I am a beginner, but I have come to the same conclusion and do for the most use soft and medium pads. You can`t do much wrong then. Just began to try to learn agressive cutting with a rotary machine and the tougher pads.

Thanks, Scott, for the interesting and informative videos. I used to use Megs 105/205 and indeed found the 105 difficult to work with, especially if it got dry and hard. I now use the Megs 110/210 with Menzerna SF 3800 as a jeweling polish.

When it comes down to what pads go with what creams I use pretty much what you have mentioned! The orange pad really does good work as an all around pad! When it comes to a 2 or 3 stage process then I will use a little different selection like MF, Orange then red or black! I wish I did some of my own vids on KZfaq that may possibly help begginers, but guys like you do a great job! Thanks for your time and effort Scott!

I got some light scratches, swirls and water spots out using Maguire’s ultimate polish using orange/white hexlogic pads. On my car, I’m going to use ultimate compound with an orange hexlogic pad, follow up with ultimate polish and a white pad. I may go all-out and finish with Maguire’s gold class carnuba wax/black hexlogic pad combo. I also just ordered a 5 & 3” backing plates with pads for my polisher. Your vids have helped a ton Scott, thank you!

A great vid for beginners. I use lake country orange for compound, white for polish and blue for wax. All Mequires ultimate, which I know is a little weaker so the average person doesn't kill the paint but I'm OK with that, I still get good results. I would rather under correct and have clear left than over detail and need to repaint my car.
