"That's game over for me" says it all from the mouth of the guy that basically started the genre of game music. Deep respect for Dr. Rob Hubbard, my dear friend and absolute master and visionary in music for games.

Today the game music doesn't have not the same bright that it had before.. And the games of today don't give the same feeling of old games.

The problem with music in computer games now is its not its own thing.

I remeber the days when only one guy developed & programmed "all in one": gameplay, graphicroutine, music, etc. like paul norman (forbidden forest, atztec challenge) or Anthony Crowther (Suicide Express). I miss these days!

Game music became less interesting when they started to use entire pre-recorded songs. Before, each system had its own distinct sound. And after, well the difference was not bigger as between two random MP3 players.

Agreed, the golden days of hummable game tunes are largely gone. I think Ben Daglish talked about that in his answer to the same question. :) My brother always hums the tune from Bejeweled, though. :P

I filmed the whole thing just for Rob! :)

It was pretty much the same from where I was stood too! :) By the way, the subtitles are not because the audio quality is average, but for anyone outside of Yorkshire who can't understand Rob's accent. ;)

I like how that KZfaq link has an anime smiley in it. :) Pretty damn catchy, like a Kylie Minogue ditty. Satisfying like a Snickers (but not a Marathon).

Gaming has indeed turned big business lately. No more just some single guy writing a game alone in his moms attic.

Well, I guess it's for the better because we have the Call of Duty series... :P

It'll be online for all to see soon, hopefully. As you can hear, the audio isn't great and Rob doesn't say a lot, but it's better than a Vulcan Death Grip from Stella Box Head! :)

(Ben Daglish might be reading, got to be careful how I answer this...) No comment! :D

Dammit, if only I knew you were there... I would have filmed your good self instead. :D

It was nice of him to bring a microphone rancher with him. *Even though he looks surprisingly like he may do the interior decorating for Sauron at "Mordor Towers". The fantastically skeleton faced apparition. He's probably somebody in gaming but I do hope someone shouted out "when you filmed Come to Daddy as the Aphex Twin, where you scared?"

You might have noticed me, then! I was the muppet filming with the crummy camera on the left hand side of the seating area. :)

Which is why I have a jar of his nails here with me on my computer table. I kiss it before I go on stage to play the full version of Delta on me acoustic. :P
