Go with 716 dimple rods it's a good steel rod you don't have to get crazy with your rods and oval Port closed chamber.

I would forget about the big rectangular merlin heads. Oval port heads on an engine up to 500 cid is the way to go. Especially if it’s not an all out race deal! And for that matter guys are going really fast with mild peanut port headed combos as well!

I applaud your efforts with sticking with olds. But it’s a race car and when you have hit your ceiling you have to change paths. I have a Pontiac 400, and I also have thought about switching. Based on cost, availability, and power potential. But glad to see you going with the old school big block and not the LS route. Keep up the good work, good luck. Car looks awesome.

I think it’s cool to try a big block Chevy. Nothing says one day you don’t put a BBO in there too one day. Enjoy and have fun. I’ve seen a 427, 396 BBC run 10:80s all day on pump gas at TnT. Little lighter though
