I talked about Metallica in this series years ago, now it’s time to talk about the second most famous band of the Big 4 of thrash metal, Megadeth, who happen to be my favorite of the four as well as perhaps my favorite thrash metal band responsible for one of my favorite albums, “Rust In Peace”. In addition, this video covers issues ranging from the band’s inconsistent lineup, Dave Mustaine’s disagreeable beliefs, and the “rivalry” between Megadeth and Metallica.

Back in 2009, Megadeth was my first band of the big four that I got into. Peace Sells being my introduction to the band thanks to its inclusion in GTA: Vice City and soon after, I found Symphony Of Destruction on the first Guitar Hero. Those two along with Wake Up Dead and Tornado Of Souls were the few songs I had for a couple years before 2013, when I started to collect music more actively on iTunes. Now, their easily one of my favorite metal bands ever. (However, there's still a good chunk of their discography I have yet to purchase.) I also never had any issues with Dave's vocals. I always thought they sounded pretty damn cool and stood out from other metal vocalists. 🤘

People don't seem to realize Mechanix was on metallicas first Demo with james singing it . it's a song dave wrote in his previous band. The only dif being the intro added when done for megadeths first record But the dif between the metallica demo of mechanix and the four horseman would be 1. Lars said there should be a melodic part and dave played sweet home Alabama as a joke cause he rode to practice with cliff everyday and cliff would always play skynyrd . Lars didnt get the joke and loved it and they worked it in after dave left and Kirk created the solo but the later solo is just a copy of daves solo 2 . James added the riff where he sings TIME taking its toll on you .. 3 Dave had music he called the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse that James was writing lyrics for . after dave was gone the concept was moved to replace the org mechanix lyrics that dave wrote and Dave's horsemen music oddly enough ended up the 3 riffs after the intro on the song ride the lightning

Okay. Sorry I have not been part of the premeire, but I have come later to comment. And oh BOI this is gonna be an essay.... Megadeth out of the big IV along with Metallica were two I could just never get super into. Was just not that super invested. Anthrax, and Slayer were my two favorite, but you know me I love Exodus, Kreator, Testament, Sodom, and Destruction. YES! You brought up Dirk Verbruen of Soilwork. He is an absolute phenomenal drummer. Would def agree that Marty and Chris Broedrick are two phenomenal guitarists - Also JANET......MARTY!?!?!? Oh Fuck yeah I too saw Megadeth live at Mayhem 11. I would def say one of my favorite songs off of Megadeth would be the Right to go insane off of Endgame which was about the Mad Lad Shawn Nelson who did the Meth tank rampage. Rotting Christ is def a band I would recommend with everyone here. They're not you're typical Black Metal band, I would say that they're very unique where they do have a very tribal, Mediterranean vibe, as well as some Orthodox chants to their style of Black Metal since they're Greek. Sakis Tollis is def an amazing songwriter. His solo album dropped last month. Dave Mustaine has been a hit or miss, but does not mean that he is a talented artist plus the tip of the spear on Megadeth. Would also say Kreator was the Spearhead in influencing Death Metal going Death Thrash as CorpseGrinder has said. And Unibroue's A Tout Le Monde is a goddamn good refreshing 4% Alc vol Belgain style ale. So fruity and refreshing. Last but not least, its always a very good thing to bury the hatchet with Metallica. Cause you know....they BOTH brought out good material. Edit: *Shades claiming Metallica is the most well known Metal band of all time.* Black Sabbath/Iron Maiden/Motorhead/Judas Priest - AM I A FUCKING JOKE TO YOU!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

You were exposed to Symphony of Destruction through Gituar Hero at age 12? I was exposed to that song through Arch Enemy's cover back in my junior year of high school. I was in computer science class listening to it on my i-pod. Long story short, I loved it because of how well it fit a scenario I crafted in a three book series that I need to finish. >_> I then later learned that the song was originally a MegaDeth around 2009, which makes it my second MegaDeth song behind Angry Again. And Angry Again I know because the late KZfaqr Hellsing920/Emer Prevost(may he rest in peace...).

Dave had already hired Nick Menza. If he hadn't, he wouldve had Vinnie Paul and Dimebag. Thats the only reason Dime turned Dave down. Dimebag created his own drink called "The Black Tooth Grin" after Sweating Bullets, his favorite Megadeth song. I love Marty Friedman, but Chris Poland was and is now even better since he beat his heroin addiction. RIP Gar Samuelson and Nick Menza. Jeff Young is the only bad guitarist Dave has ever hired. Dave had to play lead and sing because Jeff could only play rhythm.

I always liked how British Megadeth sounded throughout their career with a lot of Mustaine's influences being British and European (Diamond Head, Motorhead, Venom, Judas Priest, The Sex Pistols and Iron Maiden) and quite honestly you can hear a lot of those bands in the twin leads, high vocals (which would not sound out of place on a Satan, Diamond Head or Raven album. I always liked that Megadeth were more technically brilliant than the other bands in the big 4... which was most pronounced during the Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland era.

If it wasn't for his voice, it wouldn't sound Megadeth. Period. And it was Metallica who continued to record and revive the song into The Four Horsemen even when Dave told them not to use his songs. 😎

I love Dave's music but lets be serious for the last 25 years or so Megadeth hasn't really been a "band" more of a solo project under the Megadeth banner. A couple more things in reference to your video: he didn't borrow anything from Four Horsemen, he literally wrote the song. Mechanix was a Metallica song (written by Mustaine) that they played at their live shows before KEA came out, then after they kicked him out they changed the lyrics and put it on KEA. Then when Megadeth put out their first album they had the original song but with the tempo sped up. I agree Dave's comments about Obama were totally inappropriate and he should be ashamed of himself for that. Dave was progressive when he was younger and even wrote a song about the PMRC and was the MTV host for the Democrat convention, but as he got into his mid 40s and older he has gone more in the "fox news" direction and it would be fair to say the man has become a loon that is past his prime. But he still plays guitar really well when taking his age and health problems into consideration (though he definitely still does not sing really well lol). Also its been pretty much confirmed that the bassist that played on the new record (Digiorgio) is not actually going to be a member of the band he is just on the record, hence why Lomenzo is still on tour with them. It's very likely that Megadeth will never have an official bassist ever again.

Add Tommy Vext to the cringey political music pile. He started a new project called The Lone Wolf and his first single was called "Trust The Science", an anti-vax "anthem".

You know what science also told us was true?.. That leeches and blood letting is healthy. Science of the day isn't always right and the militant following of it over the last 2 years frankly came across as indoctrination.. "Trust the Science" is a slogan... Same as "Masks work" or "Most secure election ever".. These are political slogans.. Not facts.. The framing of something being "Anti-Vax" is also a false one.. Questioning science and expecting clear and understandable studies is what science is... Yet you and others have allowed science to become a political tool and not a independent metric.. That's what his song is about also.. Have vaccines caused harm over the years? Yes provable fact they have.. Now with that knowledge at hand should you blindly trust something you don't fully know?.. Would you walk on a sheet of ice if everyone around you told you to trust the ice?... Its this lack of deeper thought that now characterises the left and the disengaged minds today.. Which is why populations were being referred to as cattle not human beings... But hey its just a conspiracy right?

As a Christian I'm somewhat shocked that Dave Mustaine is a born again one. But my first hint was Washington Is Next with the chorus referencing the Book of Revelation and has the lines "the word predicts the future and tells the truth about the past," "attack the church dynamic," and "eighth world power of modern Rome." But I second guessed my suspicions, because that idiotic and false notion of metal/rock n' roll of being devil music plagues my mind. And it's sad because I'm not the only Christian who's created secular media. So this shouldn't surprise me as much as it has.
