There's no such thing as a "perfect Christian"
@RB-bd5tz
@RB-bd5tz 3 жыл бұрын
According to the Bible, there is. We should define "perfect" from how it's used in the Bible to describe people. From the verses below (and there are more than this) it would seem to mean: attempting to follow the example of Jesus as best you can, being forgiven of your sins (having them erased from your record) and repenting (abandoning sinful habits), doing good works, and being united with other Christians. Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Luke 6:40 "The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master." John 17:23 (Jesus praying regarding His disciples) "I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one [i.e. unity of mind and purpose] ..." 2 Timothy 3:17 "That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." James 1:4 "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." James 3:2 " ... If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body."

thing is no one can read the true bible. it's been corrupted by hateful people. translations aren't accurate. The most accurate is the King James Versions of the bible. The other versions are far gone. The truest Bible is the bible in its original language. People can't just take any bible, read it, and make their thoughts because that Bible was man-altered

Then he wasn't Jewish. The modern Jewish Hebrew language was developed long after Moses and the flood, about 400BC. Their version of Hebrew has no similarity to the Paleo-Hebrew language in use by the writers of the Old Testament. If the people who identify as the Jewish racial groups today were the Hebrews of ancient biblical script, they would not have developed their own language and call it Hebrew. They would have simply improved upon their original Hebrew language and we would find the Paleo-Hebrew roots within their version and this does not exist. The racial group of the Paleo-Hebrew language would be the genetic lineage of Israel. Did the people who call themselves Jews reinvent themselves in 400BC?

Now, there *are* translations that come out a little different than the King James, but, to the extent that this is a result if using different sources, these simply privilege different manuscripts *of the same language.* There is no version that relies on "the original Aramaic," because, even if such manuscripts ever existed (and we don't know that they did), there are certainly no copies of these around today.

Aramaic, Greek, Hebrews, Italian, and likely many others were the languages spoken in scripture. Someone translated them at some point in time using understanding from their time and context into Latin. It is retranslated, updated, etc by people over time using their best judgement from their historic contexts. That people would be willing to condemn a whole group of people based on a very few passages that may or may not apply to that group and which has been translated and retranslated over time by various peoples from various contexts without even entertaining the POSSIBILITY they could have less than clear understanding is insane.

To my fellow “Christians” who are leaving hateful comments on this video: Matthew 22: 36-40 [36] Master, which is the great commandment in the law? [37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 1 John 2:9-11 9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. Basically. One thing is needed to get into the kingdom of God. Belief in Jesus as his son, and that he’s taken your sins. The fact that you are using God’s word to hate on pastors that share their interpretations on scripture (which, by the way, i can assure you that all of you read interpretations of the Bible allegedly “every day”) and to hate on people because of who they love is the real blasphemy here. Love God, Love Your Neighbor. Since y’all are “so direct”, let me just point out that there is no “unless” after that scripture. So, if you hate people so much for who they are, there is no need to talk about it, ESPECIALLY in Jesus’s name. That’s blasphemous. Bigots like you people are the reason so many people turn away from or refuse to associate with Christianity. Though we, as Christians should be loving, all we seem to send towards other is judgement and hate. Who do you think you are? Signed, -A 15 Year Old Christian.

I like how the two ministers talk about not twisting scripture, and look at the entire context, then they go ahead and twist scripture and not look at the entire context. The bible is supposed to be a book that teaches righteousness and love, yet when people accept sin and corruption as okay and acceptable just to please some political agenda, you're not loving people - you're misguiding them. Sin is a sin, and we're all sinners. We come before God and thank Jesus for his sacrifice to deliver us from sin. We don't go ahead and say well now we're saved, it is okay to keep sinning. Instead, we study the scripture to know right from wrong and we discipline ourselves to prevent our sinful nature from taking control. Likewise, we shouldn't tell people that what they're doing is okay, just to make them feel better about themselves. When people say homosexuality is not a sin and is okay, they're only going to trip these people from following God. You should love them because we're all children of God, but instead of saying what they're doing is okay, you need to guide them and make them better. A good example is mental disorders such as depression. You shouldn't threaten, mock, or seclude people with depression and other mental disorders, nor should you say that feel depressed and suicidal is normal and they're totally okay. Instead, you need to show them love and support and help them get better.

Lt. Nan , sin is sin. What is sin? Think about Jesus and the whole cross scenario. Why did God forsake Jesus that day? What was put upon Jesus that made God look the other way? God could have saved him. Why didn't he? Isn't it not stated, 'flesh is to sin?' God is not about saving flesh. Flesh equates to sin. That's why we ARE sinners. This flesh; this corruptible shell we reside in. God is seeking that which resides in that shell, that fleshy house; The Spirt. As long as we live on earth, we will always be separated from God. We must move away from, "your "sin" is worse than mine." Your flesh is not worse than mine because it is ALL SIN in HIS eyes. The sooner we can realize that, we can really work on what God intended; that Holy Spirit filled relationship with HIM. You can only serve God in spirit and in truth.

First off, the Bible does say a lot about who God is. Secondly, the Bible does have one definition of marriage. Thirdly, I find it funny that they took the story of Sodom out of context. It wasn't just two men that went into the town. It was two angels in the form of men. Fourthly(?), the Galatians scripture CANNOT be used for a counterpoint for gender identity. The "bathroom" issue is over a physical presence, not a spiritual issue. "There's no man or woman" is meant to reflect on the fact that the soul is what is being saved and redeemed, not the social status.

For example, many people in the Old Testament married family members, which we wouldn’t dream of doing nowadays. Joe, you are lacking faith, and I have to admit that a lot of times I do too. But don’t give up. And you sound very committed if you read the whole Bible. God sees your effort and will reward you. Ask with faith, and you shall receive. I’ll be praying for you my friend:). It's a good talk, but they sadly left 5 of the 6 texts/scripture parts about homosexuality out :/ The same Paul that was mentioned condemns the act of gay sex. (1Cor 6 somewhere around the 10th verse I think) So there really isn't a way where it is allowed. Note: The bible never condemns being gay, just the act... But then again, if you say: "Who even cares about what the bible says, stories of thousands of years ago" why should you care about what the bible says about anything???

David Rutgers Sure, but it will be long winded. I also don't pretend to be an expert in theology in any way, I have found this argument in articles and interviews with experts in theology, and I'll try to reply with sources, but I basically have committed this to memory. Ok so essentially what is important to remember with the letters written by Paul, is that they are letters written usually to a specific people. The letter he wrote to the Romans is different than the letter he wrote to the Corinthians. They have the same theme and message, essentially, but Paul was actually really good at paying attention to his audience. The different groups he wrote to all had different perceptions of Christianity, they all had different traditions, ideologies, histories, etc. For example, the letter to the Ephesians talks about acceptance of Gentiles into Christianity more than some other letters, because they was a larger issue in that group. There was a lot of sentiment that Gentiles had no place, as they were not Jewish before Jesus came, and they weren't circumcised, and so on. On to your verse. I Cor 6 v9 lists all these unrighteous traits that shall not inherit the kingdom of God. It lists adulterers, thieves, the greedy, etc. It also says "abusers of themselves with mankind," which is the part most commonly interpreted as about male on male intercourse. Here is the context with verses like these. We see similar ones in other letters (there is another example in Romans), and what I have found really important is that the people that Paul is writing to here have NO history of Christianity, and to some extent, little history of Judaism. Very similar to the teachings on circumcision, these people knew little about what was the baseline in a moral Christian life. The traditions or practices of each group were interfering spiritually, and they did not realize it. Paul used his letters to emphasize the spirit that a Christian should have. For each group, he had to explain what practices in each group were in violation to the morality of a christian. he used examples of people and practices, not to point out inherit sin, but to point out how easily these can lead to sin. it would seem, through Scripture, that being a tax collector is a sin, but in reality, tax collectors were just a really good example of greed. Paul pointed out tax collectors to show a person that everyone knew who might be corrupted with greed. In the "abusers" example above, and through the original Hebrew translation, he was pointing out the only practice of gay sex that was commonly know and reported at that time. Within the Corinthians, and also with the Romans, it was really common for highly ranked men, in politics or in military, to rape young male servants, mostly young teenagers. This was no secret, but it wasn't really addressed as a problem. Paul pointed out that this practice was ungodly, violent, and wrong. He could not have been talking about a modern, consenting gay couple, as these did not exist at this time. The form of gay sex that he was condemning was essentially institutionalized rape of young men by their older masters. many modern Christian leaders interpret now, that an adult, consenting gay couple essentially should follow the same moral restrictions as a straight couple, and that both relationships would be recognized equally by God it would be really easy to discount this explanation with "but Paul just meant that all gay sex is wrong," but all examples of sex being talked about as sinful in the New testament are examples of extramarital sex, (a breach of trust with your spouse), or violent rape of a slave.

+Mr Edison Not necessarily. The most common version of the bible in the US is the King James version. How can there be multiple, and sometimes contradictory, versions of what is supposedly infallible, holy truth? The king James version is a translation, and a rushed translation at that, of scriptures that were already a bit old and confusing in the King James era. That particular translation was ordered by King James so that the general interpretation could be controlled to favor him. The KJ bible was later re-written again to be more poetic. And even at the time, some of the words and passages were confusing, or simply forgotten and the meaning was guessed. Not to mention, the bible had parts taken out and locked away during the council of Nicea/Nicaea. The Vatican has thousands of treasures and volumes locked away. The version of the bible you're most likely familiar with is as much ancient propaganda as it is actual scripture. The bible has always been a political tool. At least this time, no one is forcing the bible to be edited and killing translators and printers who disagree.

God did not dictate the Bible. God guided what people wrote with their human minds so that it would contain the message he wanted to give us. While there is one underlying Spirit, his word comes to us through different voices. Moses the lawgiver to the Israelites, Ezekiel speaking to the people of Judah in exile, John the Baptist preparing the way, Paul writing to the gentiles. @@MusicalRaichu Jesus came at a specific time in history for a purpose. This is why his word has lasted longer than every civilization, social construct, ideology, worldview or technological advancement. I have heard countless pastors interpret the Bible to fit their agenda. I have watched denominations that are prevalent say perversions such as , "Jesus is Lucifer's brother," and history has proven the wickedness of warping the word of God. You can dismiss his words, or give yourself context to make yourself feel how you want. No follower of Christ with any curated fellowship in the spirit will agree with this message. Mixing some truth with the lie will not make it better. You are actually passively defending him and that's what the most upsetting part. This is how these people turn the hearts of Christians away from God. We all sin, and the Bible has addressed all sin in the same manner. It doesn't matter what time in history it occurs or what the social structure is or what the sin is. God bless you.

@@TheWorldisInfinite By all means I don't agree twisting what the Bible says to fit one's own ideas. I have always sought to follow what it teaches. But every commentary I've looked at seeks to understand its message by following these people's method: note what it says and what it doesn't say (i.e. read it carefully without presuppositions) and take it the way the original readers would have taken it. That means learning the cultural and historical context and seeing how that helps you understand the message. This video then applies that principle to the example of the story of Lot's rescue and shows that it teaches the exact opposite of how some people choose to misuse it. However you choose to interpret the Bible, I have studied God's word carefully and I agree with these people's conclusions: there is no evidence that same secs relationships are wrong. That's a man-made tradition that nullifies the word of God, that pushes people away from the gospel of grace, and has done so much harm that the church has blood on its hands and has brought the way of Christ into disrepute. Please don't confuse fellowship with the Spirit with feeding your instinctive bias against minorities that are different to you. And I have been hearing more of this belief in infallibility lately. Can you believe some guy in my church claimed that the Spirit led him to believe that the creation story was a historical account!? The protestant belief is that the church can err. You can err. Sorry to be blunt but falling back on a claim that God himself has revealed the right interpretation to you is a crutch to save you from admitting that you can and have made a mistake.

When he is going over the Ezekiel reference about Sodom, he neglect the last phrase... 'and did detestable things before me'. These 'detestable things' are defined all over the Bible... some include "Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God” (I Cor. 6:9-10)."

FYI if you look up what the word is used to refer to throughout the old testament, it's most common use is in reference to idolatrous practices. it's second most common use (mostly in Proverbs) is unjust hurtful behaviour. In a few cases in the latter prophets, the two are linked.

Actually one of the "detestable things" was seafood (Deut 14.10). So I don't think God wiped them because of their callous disregard for people's welfare but because of their diet. Maybe those towns had a chain of seafood restaurants.

@@mr.chicken.186 i know. i was poking fun at the idea that when Ezekiel said the town was doing "toevah" it meant they were doing one particular toevah when there is no evidence for it. You could just as easily say it was because of toevah food. Rather, the word is primarily associated with idolatry and secondarily with unjust behaviour like what Ezekial had just described. It makes more sense that toevah refers in this case to this callous disregard for people's welfare.

The skit is there to support people who are close to Christians like this, and (probs in poor taste) welcome the audience. It is simply trying to support those in the LGBTQ community in saying that they can still believe in their religion, not all LGBT people are atheists

The woman speaker also said, The Bible has no agenda, which is an erroneous statement. The Bible has an agenda of bringing salvation to sinful man through Jesus Christ. Bringing man reconciliation to God through sanctification, propitiation, forgiveness of one's sins, by accepting Christ as ones Savior, and having a relationship with God through Christ. It also has a message of bringing God's kingdom to Earth. Their message is one of Universal inclusion, which is contradictory to what the Bible teaches. The Bible also talks about a narrow gate that leads to life, and there are few who find it, and turning away from one's sins. You're also a new creation in Christ. You can't bring practicing sins from your carnal self into the Christian life to get through the gate.
