8:30 There's the word "malér" in colloquial czech, which translates nicely as "a pickle" (to be in)🙂

I am Mexican, so I learnt a US/New York City type of English, with awful pronuntiation on my own and, TBH, I am not always a fan of UK accents. Some of them are really hard for me, but I find your voice soothing... I really enjoy hearing and/or watching your videos...

("J'en suis coi!") 🙀ETA: I'm also shocked about the cruelty in Les Malheurs de Sophie which was originally published in 1858, so yes it's an old classic of children litterature, but thar makes it also quite very dated! (Also careful how to pronunce "Malheurs" btw as the "h" and the "s" are both silent, so it's rather similar to "Mahler" actually!)

as french, le compte de monte cristo is what you can read, i think you don't lost many things in english because it's just for the story, not the style like Proust. And it's one of the most famous book in France. But read the book, not a manga. it's a huge book like 1500 pages but so great. Or read it in french 😇

sometimes it is necessary for the book to be read at the right time, for the first time I read the little prince at the age of 14 and apparently this age was very appropriate, because the book made a very strong impression on me. subsequently, I reread it several times as an adult and understood if it was the first time I would not have understood it as I understood it at 14. Another confirmation of this idea is the memory of the overwhelming influence that Oscar Wilde's work had on me, the portrait of Dorian Gray, which came into my hands at 30, just when there was a clear understanding that youth was gone forever. Salut, lire des Bandes dessinées( Comics) en Français est un très bon moyen d'apprendre le Français pour les débutants, car ça allie l'utile à l'agréable. j'aime bien cette langue, il en est de même pour l'Anglais.( Both great Languages!)😊
