what bothers me the most is the whole glasses thing I keep seeing “glow ups” on tiktok where most the people start out with glasses and transition into not wearing them and it’s made me super self conscious about mine. It’s stupid I know but I feel embarrassed to wear mine in public, glasses are not a flaw but yet social media is portraying it that way :/

I don't get people's beef with glasses...They're so cute! **Story Time** This was not great of me to do, but when I was nine, I wanted glasses so bad (I think they are so cute, and I still want them) that when I went to the eye doctor for the first time, I was able to trick them into prescribing me reading glasses. They gave me headaches, and I couldn't see out of them, but I didn't care. I wore those reading glasses EVERYWHERE. I finally stopped when I was eleven (I'm fifteen now) and my mom convinced me that I was going to destroy my vision. So, rock those glasses!!! You look freakin adorable, and nobody can tell you otherwise 😊

I honestly want a glo up but my definition isn’t the same as everyone else, mine is more of, taking care of my self, I want my hair to be longer and more healthy, make my eyebrows fill into its shape, grow my eyelashes, become more motivated into everything. I also need to start to figure out what hairstyles, styles, and outfits that will fit my look, make myself pop, make some of my features pop out and look good. I just want to feel good inside and out! Also something I don’t want is a temporary glo up I want it to be permanent ☺️

I hate how its all become a visual thing, A real glow up should be someone coming to terms and finally being 100% happy with who they are, being confident. You can look pretty and still be depressed or having a hard time. I really hate how its all "lets wear this" or "lets make my hair this colour or way" which if thats how you feel yourself, 100% go for it. but i hate how thats the only thing it has become.

I do 10k steps per day. Sometimes less, since last year, I’ve noticed I’ve been getting skinny, my shorts are loose, pants I couldn’t wear before because they were so tight and I wouldn’t fit. Now those pants are loose. It’s been actually less than a year, I feel pretty, I don’t need to wear oversized hoodies or sweaters to hide my body. I don’t even workout other than my 10k steps, which is around 230 calories burnt. I’ve been feeling happy about my body, I wear bright colors, I eat what I want, I don’t just stay sleeping or gaming all day. I had friends that hated me because I wasn’t pretty, they are not my friends now. My only friends are my neighbor and his mom, they are amazing. I don’t cry a lot, but when I do, I realize I’ve been through so much. My dad leaving, social and normal anxiety, failing PE and maths because I got sick. My cousin’s death, almost being touched by mom’s ex and her not believing it? But then I realize that I have already survived all the bad days I had. Why can’t I survive more? I’m strong.

I feel like mental and emotional glow ups are more necessary than a physical one. Society also pushes us to be more attentive to our physical appearance/ glow up more than our mental health and a mental glow up. I spent my whole summer between Sophomore and Junior year, working on my mental health and my trauma. My physical glow up didn't happen until I started my Senior year this year. It just sucks that people get so caught up in their appearance. Like its more important than who we really are.

As someone who had their "glow up" , I'd just like to say that you're not in a constant state of beauty. I still wake up with a giant pimple on my forehead sometimes. Just because you have a glow up doesnt mean you're gonna look conventionally attractive every second of the day.

I know I’m late to this, but something I’ve noticed is that you tend to have a natural glow up when you aren’t trying to glow up. When I stopped focusing on other people’s perspective of me and started focusing on my quality of life I ended up making changes that were a million times harder than before. I lost a bit of weight, I kept my house cleaner, my art improved, I had fewer panic attacks, my skin cleared up, and I started wearing clothes that made me feel comfortable and happy instead of ones I felt were “flattering” or trendy. I feel like our surroundings make us so insecure so when you take a moment to reflect on yourself and how you personally feel it’s extremely healthy and helps you attain your goals. I’ve never felt more beautiful than when I stopped focusing on people’s opinions and started focusing on my health and happiness.

Before, I wanted to lose weight, get skinnier, have clearer skin, to get my glow up, because I thought "then I will be beautiful". But the only thing this caused me was an eating disorder. It was when I decided to take care of my body, to take care of myself, eat and be happy that I truly got my glow up. I kind of look the same as before, but the way that I view myself is what's changed, and I've realized what a wonderful and beautiful person I actually am. You are strong, you are beautiful, and you are worthy all of your dreams, no matter who you are

One of the reasons I love this video is that this gives us another perspective on how hard glowing up mentally and physically is. Not everyone has the same advantages or privileges as others and so when some glow-up videos only show the "positives" of changing yourself is diminishing to one's mental, physical, and emotional health. Glowing up is being who you actually want, not fitting into societal standards as they are just opinions of others and won't make you any more/less of a person.

Things young people need to understand with 'glow ups' is that it'll come when you get a healthier lifestyle. You can't 'buy' glow ups. It'll only be temporarily. Glow ups take confidence, time and effort for better health, both mentally and physically. Only then you'll truly be able to grow and start the glow up ❤💫 . Besides, The glow up won't stop until you stop paying attention and effort to your own health. So keep on it everyone and be your beautiful self! . Thank you for your great video! I've seen this problem around but never really thought of it this deeply, but i'm glad you adressed it so well💕

I scare myself sometimes with my obsession with being ‘the perfect pretty girl’. A while ago I developed an eating disorder trying to lose weight. I started starving myself but around 2 in the morning I would wake up in pain and eat a bunch of food then force myself to through up and go back to bed. I ended up covering all of my mirrors just so I wouldn’t have to look at myself because every time I would I just saw a shell of my past, happier self. Please don’t stop eating, but don’t over eat either. I started following the serving size recommendations and that’s working incredibly.

“It’s unhealthy bottling up your emotions” this is so true. I am the youngest in my family and I always feel like I have to put on a brave face. A smile to cover the tears. I know it’s great to be brave and happy, but sometimes... it’s so hard. Recently, I got a basketball trophy and metal for 2nd place, I was so happy and proud of myself! We won this bc we had 3 games, we won two and lost one. The reason we won the first one was bc the other team forfeited. After we lost our rematch with that team, all of my emotions I had been bottling up came pouring out. I cried bc I knew if that team hadn’t forfeited, we would’ve have gotten the trophy. I didn’t feel worthy. Sometimes it seems like if you put on a brave face, if you are the pillar that everyone can lean on, you will be accepted. And it’s sad that that’s not true. Still, i am the pillar I am the place, everyone can pour into everyone can cry on, they can sit and lean. But I’m not allowed to break. The pillar is not allowed to break. And when I do, I am “weak” I am a “cry baby”. But the truth is... I’m human.

I'm going through my mental glow-up right now - starting with accepting that I have bipolar disorder and getting treated for it and learning that I don't need to be ashamed of that or my severe GAD and social anxiety. I need to work on my mind before I can work on my body, or I'll never be pretty enough or skinny enough or funny enough or likeable enough. It will never be enough if your head's not in the right spot.

Sleep and exercise play EQUAL roles in your over all heath. That's right, having a regular and fulfilling sleep schedule can be just as beneficial as doing a half hour chloe ting workout. However, for the most significant amount of change, eating a more healthier diet is best. You don't have to cut out any of your favorite foods, in fact you may have to eat more! A typical diet should be Grains, dairy and fruit at breakfast. A snack mid morning (this can be the fruit or grain you didn't eat, or another item) Lunch, protein, oil/fats, vegetable/fruit and complex grains (this can be a chicken stir fry, or sandwich) Another snack, fats or carbs (nuts or crackers) Dinner- protein, veggtables, complex grain Another snack- dairy, fruit/veggie That sounds like a lot of food, but this came like directly from my nutritionist. She also said that butter and oil is also good and important. She put alot of emphasis that a half to a whole cup of rice is good. And that if you're eating less than a cup of grains per serving, it really doesn't matter if it is whole or white!

You can never be satisfied with your “physical glow up” if you don’t have a mental glow up. This is clear as day to see when it comes out people with plastic surgery for example, those who have had their mental glow up and know what they want go and do it, I.e nose job, fillers, etc whatever the procedure because it’s just something they want to fix then they move on, they don’t obsess over it cause it’s not the root of their happiness/livelihood. Those who have not had their mental glow up and can’t understand that their physical imperfections are not what is causing them their unhappiness take it to extremes, either to try to overdo/ fix a problem that isn’t there, or if they were temporarily satisfied with whatever procedure they’ve done, continue to repeat that to feed off the same high, such as multiple nose jobs when the most required is 1 or 2, or continually getting fillers or injections on top of “fresh” ones before they’re supposed to/before they’ve had the adequate time to wear off

The reason why I want a glow up is so that I can finally feel confident of myself. I want to be able to wear clothes that I want to wear outside and look good for myself and actually make myself FEEL good and feel comfortable in my own body, thankfully I never went through a toxic mindset that caused me to lose weight through eating disorders or damage my mental health (aside from Low-self esteem, but im gaining more confidence every week!). I started exercising and going on diets to lose weight and this was the best decision I've ever made. To all of you who want a glow-up, work for it and never make others' satisfaction your reason. To live up to other people's standards is difficult, you can't make everyone happy so focus on yourself and what makes you happy, because satisfying ourselves is an actual possible goal. Good luck to everyone else! (Sorry If i don't make sense, it's difficult for me to think and listen to this at the same time while feeling very sleepy)

I’m so happy I found your channel your words are truly an eye-opener for me as well as others who watched it. Because nowadays everyone is so obsessed with beauty that one had to feel so stressed and anxious comparing oneself to others who had already their gloups based on what they usually portray on social medias. I realised that beauty standard is such a bs since they constantly changing. Everyone is different that’s why it makes us beautiful in our own ways. I hope that people don’t misunderstand the concept of gloup as a big transformation from “being ugly” to “beautiful” because that’s not what it is. You are always beautiful as you are even from the beginning but the thing with gloups is that you have better confidence, more self-care, much more happier in your life because you are finally in the state of the best version of yourself when you start to love yourself even more

My notes from this video if anyone wanted them! 1. Get dressed everyday, being ready to take on the day will help you succeed! Dress for success, e;g putting on exercise clothes first thing so you’re already ready to exercise! 2. BE CONSISTENT!!! consistency IS key. 3. Don’t jump right into goals too fast, it’s hard especially for me when I just want to change my life in one day, however the point she mad was that it is unrealistic to do 2 hours of exercise after never exercising before that. Which is just one example where you could apply that, I really enjoyed that! (I’m going to use this by shortening 1hours time periods on my schedule to just 30 minutes :D) She made the point that permanent changes do not happen over night. Instead of short-lived bursts of happiness, attempt to develop long lasting habits in replace of bad ones! She also recommended ATOMIC HABITS - James Clear (I loved what I read of it, I 100% agree) 4. Learn that you are in control of your emotions, people just want to get a rise out of you.. Learning to change you responses, or even not react will help you out a lot in the long run and hep you take back control over your life! 5. Allow yourself to feel your emotions, let them be released from crying and other outlets. One thing I remember hearing (I believe on Aliva D’Andreas channel, I hope I’m spelling that right) Is that connecting those negative emotions to a positive thing such as, running, writing, really any hobby, instead of negative things, like stress eating, laying in bed, and taking it out on others! This really stuck with me 6. DON’T PONDER OVER NEGATIVE THOUGHTS. wasting time and energy on should and shouldn’t haves is super easy to do. A more productive and positive way to do things is to think about it in a healthy way, figuring out how you can learn from that mistake and do things differently in the future! That said I REALLY enjoyed this video and immediately subscribed! 🤍✨
