Lol, this was hilarious. My middle name isn't peer reviewed, but it'd be cool as heck to take part in a lucid dreaming study. I haven't found many videos like this one, but I found it funny. I'll take a crack at roasting. SSILD. You'd try WILD, but you just don't have the patience for it. You live a fast paced life and find yourself bouncing back and forth from one thing to another to another with rapidity, rarely stopping long enough to take note of what you're doing. On those occasions where you are aware of what you are doing, you quickly grow bored and shift to doing something else. Your dream journal is nearly empty because you spend your first moments out of bed trying to right down as much as possible, only to wake up for real and forget it all. You get lucid, but you're still not exactly sure how or why, you just know SSILD works so you keep on doing it. Maybe not the best, but it's one you didn't cover.

FILD: You over enthusiastically binge watch too many lucid dream KZfaq videos on the daily, you expect quick and easy results in life and always leave everything till the last minute. IK you already did this one but it's too relatable for me to not mention it Also, Matt, genuine question, most studies I find on meditation and it's effect on sleep relate to vipassana meditation (a less concentrative style of meditation then the one you mention on your channel). Have you ever experimented with this type of meditation before bed and noticed varying results relative to a simple nose breathing meditation? I ask cause I'm unsure of which meditation practice I want to commit to long term and obviously want optimal results when it comes to maximising sleep and lucid dreaming potential.

There are quite a few separate practices labelled as Vipassana meditation, the ones I personally have experience with were similar to other forms of mindfulness meditation - with attention on the breath or on different parts of the body, or with repeated body scanning (something I do as a warm up for my regular meditation sessions anyway). I wonder if you're perhaps referring specifically to the style of Vipassana that involves noting. If that's the case, I think it can be just as valuable as mindfulness of the breath. I find with mindfulness of the breath I am able to quickly perceive my mind from the position of an observer, while with noting I often feel more attached to and identified with my thoughts, but I do still do it from time to time, along with mantra meditation which I've started doing on those days where the mind is not as quiet.

@@Tipharot That's true, it can be a bit confusing trying to categorize all the meditation techniques as often times they overlap and or multiple practices are involved in one sitting, Ie: breath focus and body scan (as is the case with some vipassana meditations), but also labelling/noting any and all sensations and thoughts, as you mentioned, is another practice under the label of vipassana. I might have to start experimenting with TM or mantra meditation too, some days my mind is so scattered I can barely focus on my breath for more then 15 seconds without getting lost in a 5 minute thought loop haha.

I've been trying to lucid dream for about a week now using MILD and my dreams have been alot more vivid but last night i had the scariest nightmare ever and it was so vivid, so let me explain it. So we were at like a hockey game or somethin and then there are these horrific screams of a like 17 year old boy and my parents said go investigate and i did, but when i got in there the muffled screams were coming from the stall and i opened it up and there were two parts of the stall for some reason there was the first part and then you open the second stall door and there's the toilet and then a big fat tall black guy came outta the stall and i tried to run but the stall door was locked now and then he threatened to do sexual things to me 🤣 it was one of those dreams where you lie in your bed quivering for a good five minutes after it's over
