I'm Turkish and you cannot find toilet seats without a bidet in them. You literally can't because they're all sold with one. Although not as sophisticated as a Japanese one, it does the job. In Italy, Spain, Portugal, some Muslim countries and some South American countries (not France, where it has been invented) in every single bathroom you find a bidet bowl, connected to in/out water via plumbing, next to the toilet bowl. It's not an electronic integration to the toilet bowl like the Japanese one and it's used with soap and water and you regulate the hot/cold water with tap. Bidet is not optional, it is part of the bathroom as much as the toilet bowl itself.
@lacdirk
@lacdirk 3 жыл бұрын
And since you don't actually poop or pee in the bowl, it's a lot more sanitary, especially if there's more than one person actually using the facility.

@@lacdirk Yes! And considering that Italian moms are in general cleaning freaks, they'll probably be cleaning it every day or so (I'm Italian and that is the only experience I have with bidets). One objection many have is that they don't want to share a bidet with strangers, but as far as I remember it is really hard to find bidets in public toilets. So much so that I have many friends you don't want to poop in public toilets because there are no bidets. I miss my bidet :)

Yes! :) Looking at properties, I was shocked to find bidets everywhere. It's an old school bidet-- separate from the toilet-- but you'll find it in some of the oldest, cheapest, most rural farm properties. If it has a roof on it, and the bathroom has a toilet, even if it's in a separate building (outhouse!), it almost always has a bidet.
@NanaSevers
@NanaSevers 2 жыл бұрын
How do you deal with separate ones? You take a massive dump in one and then squat waddle over to the bidet? Doesn’t it kinda squish around? Do you use any toilet paper to get rid of the chunks first then go to the bidet? How do you dry off after the bidet? Asking for a friend 🤔

I grew up in Puerto Rico where all master bathrooms have a bidet next to the toilet. It was awesome. Moved to California and all of a sudden, no bidets. Just toilet paper 😭. We lived in England for 3 years from 2001 to 2004 and I had a bidet. It was amazing. When we moved back, I bought a bidet attachment for my bathroom that also hooks up to hot water. Heavenly. Last year during the great toilet paper shortage, I was happily spraying away myself clean.

I don't even use TP anymore. I found cheap wash cloths. I dry with one for a few days, then switch to a fresh one. When it's time to wash towels, those "butt towels" go in with them.

I have a Tushy Spa bidet at home and LOVE IT. It does require you to dry off a little with toilet paper, which made me shocked and jealous to hear your comment about not needing to dry off in Japan. Maybe it's a water pressure thing? The lowest functional pressure on the Tushy is kind of high-- the simplicity of the thing means it's really just dependent on your toilet line's pressure.

Okay, 2 things: 1.) I'm a little disappointed you didn't include a clip from the super-old video you made with a song about how a bunch of famous people from other countries squirt water in their butts, and I watched to the end of the video before commenting so I could be sure you didn't do it at the end, and 2.) I got one back when there were toilet paper shortages, and honestly I kind of dislike the way it feels, but it takes less time and uses less paper so I endure the 2 seconds of discomfort for the sake of efficiency.

Do you know thos handhels showers that a lot of people have with the shower? Here in Brazil, we have small versions of those attached to the toilet and use it to clean ourselfs. Of course, it's not as good as a bidet, but it's A LOT cheaper.

New bidet owner here - I am a HUGE convert!!!! Put a cold water bidet in the back bathroom, loved it so much immediately that I installed another one with a warm water option in the front bathroom. I am just mad that it took me until my age to realize that a bidet is the ONLY way to "go"!!! Both front and back washing is just wonderful and hygenic, beats plain TP all to hell. Plus you will save tons of money on TP, as well. Anyway, I love them both and they have changed my life completely. No wonder Europeans think Americans are barbarians! GET A BIDET - you will LOVE it!

38 year old male here. I bought a bidet a few months back and have been too lazy to install it. Today it's raining non-stop, and I figured I would get some overdue chores out of the way. I just had my first bidet experience a few minutes ago, and besides the initial setup where I didn't realize the spray was set to on when I turned the water back on and promptly hosed down myself, my walk in closet, my cat, and anything else within a 5 mile radius, it was absolutely amazing. I've had a mild fissure going on almost 3 years now, and after wiping with paper, I've basically just learned to live with discomfort. This is the first time in years where I walked away from the toilet both feeling clean and more comfortable, but also slightly violated, and I'm starting to question my existence. The only downside is the spray on mine is so hard that it's basically a carwash for my balls every time I use it, but hey...they probably needed cleaning also.

A cheaper alternative to installing an expensive bidet is to make a sort-of manual bidet. Took some getting used to (and a few occasional misfires and wet bathroom floors) but works as well as most bidets. And if you really need a play music function, doesn't everyone have a smartphone?

I'm also a bidet convert after having plenty of opportunity to try them out, make mistakes, learn, finesse the process to suit my preference when i was living in Korea. I have bought a new house and certainly plan to replace the loos with expensive bidet-style loos. Cleanliness and environmental friendliness is my reason. I also want one with a hand basin on the cistern that fills the cistern with the grey water from washing your hands after using the toilet (another delightful discovery while I was in Japan)

Electronic ones are called Washlet's. I live in Japan and the Washlete is my favorite thing. Ours have heated seat and water option, and a massage function that moves it around in a small circle. Ours cost a little over 20,000¥ or $200, and the spray has a bubble spray that isn't too strong even on the strongest mode. Make sure to wipe after a no2 first to get the bulk off or the spray will drop 💩 onto the spray nozzle. Then dry with more tissue. That's how I was taught to do it by my Japanese hubby.

I've been in the Philippines for over 5 years. While I've not seen any bidets, lots of places have a bum gun and it's great too. Would be cheap to setup anywhere. They put a T joint above the water cutoff value. Off the side part of the T they attach a standard dish washer sprayer, usually they also sell them with a plastic wall mount to hold the sprayer. Effective and cheap.

I've used one for several years now. It does take a couple times to aclimate or get used to it, but it's fantastic, and plenty of companies make attachments that don't require electricity (probably another reason why the fancy ones aren't more available here). I will say though, the attachment ones will change temperature throughout the seasons. It's QUITE brisk in the winter time here in Denver. It's not uncomfortable though.
