The defendant is not stable. Her inability to control herself tells volumes and I think the judge saw that.

So her mental health made her participate in a home invasion with deadly weapon. This is the affects of drugs and bad choices.

Her meltdown does not bode well for indicating stable mental health.

Poor attorney Ward, the number of "tells" he is exhibiting just tells me the stress that this defendant is putting him on. I have seen him in other defendants, and for a PDA, he is competent. At 3,5 minutes I already see she is going to screw the hearing completely.

Funny thing is, is Judge Simpson is reasonable. She had a good shot of getting a more favorable outcome if she just had the ability to keep her mouth shut.

She already has a guardian and a payee, which means she’s been formally ruled to have a disability severe enough that she can’t care for herself. The process takes a while, so she’s been in this situation for a long time. Guardianship is uncommon, even for severely mentally ill people. Based on my limited experience with people under guardianship, I suspect her mother got guardianship when Ms. Friday was in her late teens or early 20’s. It’s easier to get guardianship then, probably because it’s easier to show that someone is incapable when they haven’t had much of a chance to live an adult life, and when they’re at an age when people act irresponsible anyways. (I’m not saying it was a bad idea in this case. She’s clearly out of it.)

I hope she gets help. It worries me that she has kids.

She’s certainly unusual. She’s very articulate and at the same time she seems quite naive and totally unaware of how to interact in this setting. And maybe in other situations too. She’s very open and confident but could be quite vulnerable out in the community. Yes, her poor attorney is unsurprisingly finding working with her very challenging, to say the least!

They have NO SAY WHATSOEVER in who they get to represent. Now with that being said: They sure as heck will put in a "withdrawal motion" and STILL the court, the JUDGE, has the final say. I just feel for this first PD. Wow!!!

Really hope they get her the mental help she needs. Really feel bad for her and if she gets the help she desperately needs and deserves think she’ll do better. It’s really sad when people with mental issues don’t get the help they need and end up in jail. This country really needs to step it up on mental health issues for the people that need help with it.

I feel for her, the poor girl is mentally ill and needs the right medical attention. Having been a mental health counselor in the past I see hat she is going through and it is sad because it really is not her fault she is like this and needs the right medicine to stabilize her chemical imbalance. She was very polite here at least which is a nice change. I hope she gets out soon and gets the right help and becomes a good part of the community soon.
