I felt so bad for the guy who was kept from his own house because the woman who has been arrested numerous times for DV filed a TPO. Im grateful Judge Manning took all that extra time to be sure she wasn't allowed there, but I feel she should've been given 1 hour to gtfo so he could go home. He said he had nowhere else to go.

Happens more often than you think. Girlfriend moves in with her kids, the house is in his name and he’s paying the mortgage. Theres a fight, cops are called, she claims abuse, and while he’s locked up for the night she’s filing a TPO using the arrest and is given the right to live there for months while he is forced to continue to pay the mortgage and bills on a house that he cannot set foot at without being arrested

Why are some people unable to handle their business? It’s crazy….it’s so simple. People don’t listen….and then act like they don’t have any idea what’s going on. And I’m pretty sure she got her bond conditions. They want to do what they want when they want how they want.

Many that get involved with the law routinely are struggling with Mental Health and Social Functioning issues. Commonly, in poor neighborhoods, there are absolutely terrible schools where the incidence of high school drop outs are high. It can be like talking to a 12 year old when it's a grown person. I worked with this population for nearly half-a-century. We had to teach them how to keep a small file box full of important documents, how to manage time, manage money, how to get a job, how to keep a job, etc., etc. They are often profoundly impaired, obvious to anyone that spends time with them. To you and I, it's so simple and it's hard to imagine where the problem is. I would add that this population is also good at "playing dumb," pretending to be more confused than they are. For example, the male defendant above (with the hat that says "security") might not have the paperwork he is supposed to email, and so he could be pretending to not be able to use email.

Sucks for her. People don’t find themselves in that position overnight, it’s a result of a series of bad choices. Most adults have a friend or two if not family to help them out in tough situations. It’s very sad for her if a shelter is her only option but you can’t just take over someone else’s house kicking them out to live on the streets

Maybe you're watching too much Clown Court Featuring Judge Manning. The vast majority of Zoom court works just fine -- but we should dispense with this technology because some minority of users can't do it or some people don't know how to act? No, judges can reset cases and require in-person appearance when needed. (While you're at it, let's call for the take down of the entire internet ... because some bad people do bad things on it. Sheesh.)

I like being able to see legal proceedings on KZfaq, but Zoom needs to end. Between poor connections, people being late to login, people not understanding how to use Zoom, and multiple other issues, using Zoom is very inefficient & aggravating to all concerned. Dump it.
@-HeyLyd-
@-HeyLyd- Жыл бұрын
I watch many courts across the country where Zoom works just fine the vast majority of the time. You don't stop using modern-day technology that saves time and money just because a fraction of overall users are clueless. Judges can order in-person appearance where necessary. I guess we should discontinue tele-health because some people can't use it? Foolishness.

@@Kthb80 I’ve seen slip ups too, hell everyone isn’t crazy perfect lol. But I will say compared to other judges who deal with less drama and stressful cases than she does, she does run a moderately tight ship. Could you imagine dealing with TPO and contempt cases in FULTON COUNTY?!? Lol I live in Baltimore so I can only imagine how crazy Atlanta people are daily too. TPO and contempt cases are notoriously insane, tons of pro se people and tons of outright insane craziness or loud outright lies. And I’ve noticed her softer side to women definitely. I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s due to 1 her being gay so she’s naturally a legitimate woman lover lol (I meant that as a pun/corny joke. I don’t want someone responding saying I’m a -phobe or hater of anything. I truly meant it as a joke for a moment). And 2 I could only imagine the amount of actually bad TPO cases she sees where there are tons of battered women has kind of shifted her sensitivity if you get me? Sadly men don’t report abuse as much as they should or even go after TPO’s. So we tend to see more women getting TPO’s against violent or stalking men and sadly not nearly enough men reporting for themselves. So I’m sure after I think 8-9 years of hearing horror stories has swayed her sensitivity. The type of cases she handles essentially are people who don’t listen to whatever previous court order and are in contempt or for TPO’s meaning they doing something bad to the other party. But I agree with you mostly as I have seen her be lax sometimes but for the most part she is stern and out of all the judges I watch she is one of the few that thankfully will kind of put the person in their place more than just saying “I’m the judge don’t speak to me that way” etc etc. But you’re right, I’ve seen it from time to time too.
